i greatly appreciate that jj was given so much liberty to make such a beautiful song for pedri. please protect him (jj) at all costs. maram too, been loving her statistical analyses in the last bunch of episodes. please protect the entire tifo irl team at all costs.
Hope Joe doesn't fire JJ after that song (or even direct a fire marshal towards him)

When is the Pedri song available on Spotify and iTunes?
Holy crap, the Pedri song is unbelievably brilliant. 🔥
@@ThereAndBenAgain haha I was literally about to write the same. Seriously gold, right up my alley. It’s sort of Weird Al meets JJ.
Question: Will there ever be a second Sergio Busquets? If no then how do you replace him?
There's literally just no player like him, even in the academy lol.
I have a feeling next season Xavi will change his tactics and use a double pivot, instead of moving one of the full backs into that slot. I can see Kessie and De Jong playing that position well together since both did/do it for their previous teams. Then there's Nico who suits that formation well also and even Gavi could play well there.
Idk, do they need it anymore? I think Barca could get by with Frenkie in that position
You know it's gonna be Pedri, you know it's gonna be Pedri!!
Rodri’s quite similar in style but there’s no way they get him
@@dmur. Thing is Rodri won't be able to directly replace Busquets because no one can do what Busquets does at his level.
Cracking football analysis along with the fever dream of the Pedri song. Never change
Honestly, Joe would be a good wrestlers. Works very well with gimmicks and he has a physical humor along with a extremely funny ingenuity. And he's a great Improviser. Never seen the body though, so who knows if a Ultimate Warrior 8 pack is hiding under there.
Yeah; off with that hooded sweater!
@@richteffekt Now that I think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen Joe without the hooded sweater..
Kinda strange that a physical, emotional, tough as nails player like Xhaka is not appreciated in the supposedly very tough, very physical Premier League
He’s not physical, he can’t use it within the framework of the rules. He can’t win a header and he just puts in I’ll advised tackles.

Wonder when the official release of JJ's Pedri album's coming out. A single song just doesn't do him justice, we need more of it for sure.
Woo, they answered my question! Special thanks to Alex for all the immense level of detail & time spent to come up with the answer... 'sort of'. ;)
Emotional player. I think that is his general perception here in Switzerland too
Great leader and captain because he can bring in the motivation and belief that we can win as underdogs
He's an old school leader. Aresnal look ponderous without him. Also, a great distributer given time and space. Ideal for competions slower than EPL, where he is frequently overwhelmed by top midfielders
Captains should lead by example. He gets sent off far too often

I love JJ's slow descent into madness more than life itself. The Pedri song is a straight-up banger.
I like how they get straight to the question in the title
Wow..PEDRI song was awesome!!
Question: What's happened to Houssem Aouar? Burst into the limelight big-time couple seasons ago but seems to have now fallen off the radar
they already answered this in a previous video: he is not the type of player to carry the team when Lyon are not playing well and they also brought in lucas paqueta (supposed to be a replacement for auour) who plays much the same role and is currently playing better
Follow up question: what happened to nabil fekir?
@@bernardosullivan2703 nothing 'happened' to fekir: he is playing for the 5th place team in la liga having been directly involved in nearly a quarter of their goals so far this season. maybe you only watch the prem so let me put it in those terms: fekir = james maddison, Betis = Leicester. he's exactly where he's supposed to be.
thats spot on
@@benhebbby love the simplification ahahaha
Glad to see Xhaka getting the recognition and respect he deserves, far too misunderstood and underrated by most. Obviously not without his flaws but he's crucial to his team
He’s shite
Not crucial to his team at all and if he was replaced by someone who fits the LCM 8 role better the team would have a higher ceiling

@@thierryhenry674 Xhaka isn't close to any of those players 🤣 we watch him every week unfortunately. Never mention him with all time PL great midfielders 🤦🏻♂️ wow 😂
The Pedri song NEEDS to be on Spotify!
Question:
Historically teams haven’t had a huge amount of success just stockpiling the best players in the world, PSG being a great example. (There are some obvious exceptions to this rule).
Why doesn’t this method work? And what’s the best team of the best players that could actually work tactically ?
Because when a team of world class players play in a league levels below them so that they don't even have to break a sweat to win matches and the whole league, then those guys will get used to winning easily.
But no team can be that much better than all the teams in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
And if PSG never needed to be extremely motivated, work hard and concentrate for 90 minutes to win Ligue 1, then how could they suddenly learn those skills?
@@andrew7taylor Decent idea, but I think it goes further than that. If you've been brought to a team because you're a superstar, you have certain expectations about how you'll play. When _everyone_ is a superstar, those expectations are impossible to meet because they will inevitably create conflict through the squad.
So, either players don't get what they want and are unhappy so play badly or they play badly because they're not playing the way they prefer. In either case they will generally underperform. That might be enough to beat most domestic sides (and even that's not a given; Lille are the current Ligue 1 champions, after all), but it's definitely going to get found out at the top level. Look at the sides doing the best in Europe right now and it's not all superstars by any stretch. Most of Liverpool's players are canny acquisitions bought to fulfil a specific purpose. Many didn't really flourish at all in their former teams. Even Man City, more superstar-oriented than Liverpool for sure, have a few players who, despite being exceptional, are very level-headed along with it (De Bruyne being the primary example).
I like this question- I add the addendum is the galactico way a philosophy that can work in modern football, and who’d be the best manager to make it work? I reckon Roy Keane.
@@hellow326 keane as a manager did not work lol. i get what you're saying in terms of the required personality to manage galacticos, but someone like Klopp or Flick could do it while also being tactically good enough
@@jacklee469 The players both of those managers managed as well as the clubs they managed at were big factors for both of those managers. They sign professional players willing to work with and for the club and manager.
This is the best series y'all ever did. Looking forward to every week!
14:10 Alexander-Arnold is just on another planet when it comes to attacking full back play. As the scatter shows, there’s him, then there’s Robertson, and then there’s everyone else
Looks like they had to make the graph bigger just to fit Trent on he's that good
TAA is clearly the best in the prem right now, but I'm interested in why Reece James isn't on that graph. According to the website I'm looking at, he has 0.32 xA per 90 and 1.2 chances created per 90 so far this season.
terrific content, love the mention of xhaka(as an arsenal fan) blown away by how serious the stat analysis was conducted on the world cup successes and temp, the Pedri song Im still singing a 20 mins from hearing it!

The Pedri track was unbelievable scenes
Question: what tactic has been most successful at getting a team promoted from the Championship into the Premier League?
As a statistician, i was so happy when Alex talked about significance. Its like tifo has entered and replicated my life. Football and Statistics
Absolutely incredible song at the end about Pedri I think it was. Will be looking for it on Spotify
Question: With Klopp's contract running out in two years, who do you think should be Liverpool's next manager if he doesn't re-sign? Are there any manager that plays similar football like Klopp in Europe?
I knew JJ would say Pedri for that last question but I didn’t expect a whole rock song😂😂😂
James is a legend, love the Tifo/Gunnerblog crossovers
From what I heard of your Come On Eileen cover I was severely impressed.
Question: If the Champions, Europa, and Conference league this year were all to be won by Premier League teams, how would spots in Europe for next year be assigned?
I love this series and hope you all continue to do it for a long time.
Question: Will Fulham stay up this time? Can they keep relying on Mitro?

I’m waiting for “Pedri” by JJ Bull to be launched on Spotify
These videos are the highlight of my week
Simply amazing
Holy Sh... that song was damn funny. And the dryness at the end is superb. Great job.
Man I love JJ songs
Hi I’ve got a question. What have Leicester done and what else can they do to replace Vardy’s importance?
jj so talented i cant lie
Can you release all of JJ’s songs on a playlist?
Q. Is there a correlation between certain football leagues/divisions and the players being brought from them being able to evolve to Premier League football quicker than others? And how do teams go about comparing performances between different leagues/competitions?
It depends on the team and the player
Is a CB who plays in a high line for a bundesliga team (which a lot of them do) going to translate well to playing for Burnley? Probs not. What about for a team like Liverpool who play a high line? Probs
That’s a real simple example but that’s how it goes Imo
@@MikeHunt117 yes an no, in general the PL is very high paced, whereas the Serie A, is very slow paced. A player also has to adjust to the opposing teams as well as it’s own. A player may be too slow for the PL, or may try to rush things in the Serie A. So it’s kind of difficult to tell how a player will do being transferred between the leagues. This isn’t too mention the fact that weather plays a part too. Going from sunny Spain and Italy, to cold and gloomy Manchester or Newcastle can have massive effects on the players performance, as the saying goes “but can they do it on a cold windy night in stoke”.
It does seem like players from the Portuguese league seem to fit into the Prem pretty quickly - luis Diaz, Ruben Dias, 80% of wolves’ team, Bruno Fernandes.
I think that's more on the scouting done by man City.
@@kiweping5 I just used a simple example to ilustrate the exact same thing you were without waffling for quite as long haha
You know a show is funny when you can see everyone struggle to not break character. Alex was trying his hardest not to laugh after the video segment on Pedri. Another great vid guys
The whole Tifo IRL Team are great, that Perdri song is a classic, made my day!
you guys are the best
With 5 subs now being the norm, is is possible to have a tactical combination on the bench and send them out as a unit. for example starting the game with a fluid front three and if that is not working sending out a big powerful tall striker with a great crosser of the ball to change the complexion of the game? Will that realistically happen?
I feel like that would only be a strategy able to be properly used by big teams with the budgets for large squads. The only issue with that is that these big teams will be looking so sign technically excellent players who’ve got a bit of versatility to their game. So I’d imagine that a tactical change with just one substitution would be the norm.
For your proposed scenario, perhaps just that tall striker would come off the bench, but wide players that would be talented at crossing would be already on the pitch, and would have practiced crosses in training.
Well "You know it's going to be Pedri" will be stuck in my head all day... That bangs 🙌
A high bar this week, surely that song will in the charts soon
This is so funny and educational
Shouldve gone with the pedri topic in the title! Loved it 😀❤️
On weather at the world cup affecting outcome, there's one element that would likely would have an effect but hasn't been considered (probably because it would be a massive pain). Weather in the country the players play their league football in (a lot of them in thr last 20 years will be spread around the world)
Question:
I have noticed that certain teams have started to play a sort of: 5 at the back without the ball, 4 at the back with the ball.
Most notably Chelsea, so much so that Thomas Tuchel played Reece James (commonly played as a right wing back) as the right sided centre back of the 3 against Crystal Palace.
Could you please go into detail about how teams can shift between shapes and how it gives them a tactical advantage?
the graphic for underlapping was hilarious!
That is quite possibly the greatest song I’ve ever heard about potential future balon d’or winners.
Also, if Ten Hag can coach AWB as a RCB in a back 3 then he’ll be fantastic.
I think there’s a class of players who the “what do they do” question can apply and they all keep playing. I think
Rodri,
Tielemans
Henderson (Liverpool) all have this quality where they get lots of games but their main attribute seems to be passing neatly as far as I can tell.
You don’t understand football if you can’t see what Rodri does for City just at a quick glance
Alex talking about statistical significance pleases me greatly
What do Villa (Aston) need to do to get back into European football?
I want another version of it now
I love that JJ stays objective, in spite of his love for Pedri. Kudos!
Could the pedri song be released on itunes??
showing love for Alex's spreadsheet deep dive
“Pedri” is second only to transfer hawk in my mind. Well done JJ.
Question for the team: would Edson Alvarez solve Manchester United’s defensive midfield woes?
I listened to the song at 1.5x speed and it sounded like a very aggressive speed metal song. I liked it.
i love how musical tifo is
Really good analysis of Xhaka. Also I can see why the impersonation of the Tifo IRL podcast did eagle noises for JJ 😂😂 PEDRI
JJ Bull's songs are getting increasingly Hat Films and I am very here for it
My weekly dose of happiness ♥️
Cant wait to hear that song being sung around the Nou Camp.
I really enjoyed the song
I usually listen to these on 2x speed and let me tell you that that takes the Pedri song to a different dimension.
Question: how should teams play when up or down a man?
It’s an extremely high bar. But I really think the Pedri song is the best Tifo song yet. We need a Tifo Spotify
I love this
Thank you Alex for using the word "data" accurately.
Question: why is it, that the left-sided CB in big teams almost always seems to be the more reliable one (e.g. VVD, Dias, Ramos, Maguire 😂,...)
simple because they can use their left foot better
@@akmalrodzi4633 makes sense
@@akmalrodzi4633 the players I mentioned are all right-footed - which makes perfectly sense because most of them hit great diagonals over the pitch with their right. Still, many of the corresponding right-sided CBs are right-footed as well. So why is the well known pro player that everybody talks about so often on the left? You shall explain, Tifo guys.
@@MrTaucher007 efficiency, VVD plays of the left because Matip /Konate is less efficient with their weaker foot, so they play of the right. Dias plays RCB with Laporte as LCB but if Stones plays Dias with play LCB.
There are more right footed players than there are left footers, and defenders naturally being less comfortable with the ball compared to midfielders / attackers, the better ones (if a natural left footer isn't available) will play of the left.
maguire 🤣🤣
Another always sunny connection with the golden man musical, similar to night man! 🤣
Question: what kind of tactical systems prefer underlapping fullbacks over overlapping fullbacks? I see a lot of underlapping fullbacks from the top premier league teams and I'm wondering if it's going to be a mainstream thing.
This show needs a complete revamp. I want to see Alex Stewart singing and JJ Bull doing a spreadsheet.
I can't wait for the special-release deluxe CD compilation of Tifo IRL songs.
that music used in the xhaka section made me check in haste if I was getting a call on teams
QUESTION: How is a player's match rating calculated and, with the introduction of newer stats such as XG, is a player's match rating still an accurate measurement of how a player performed?
Best song ever. Now Pedri is growing on me too.
Question: looking at past players (specifically pre 90’s) who do you think, if anyone, would still have the same impact today as they did in their prime?
Completely disagree, Özil’s form & production massively dipped when we replaced Cazorla with Xhaka and now we are seeing the same when we have no Partey in midfield, Xhaka’s ball progression is overrated. Great as passing it to the leftback though
Ozil thrives around intelligent players and makes those players better too. When replaces with worse players around him he dropped off.
@@jawwadkhan6146 agreed.

Question: How good has Smalling been at Roma and would United have benefitted from keeping him?
Cul-de-Sac’s also make me nervous when it comes to urban planning, but what is the Corridor of Uncertainty?
How good was Steve McManaman he won champions league’s and La Liga’s but is rarely mentioned when discussing best English player of that era
