It’s really not that unrealistic, either. Roe was largely overruled because the current Supreme Court is quite unfriendly to “substantive due process” rights, which aren’t in the Constitution but are essentially seen as enough of the country’s history to warrant protection. Same-sex marriage is protected under the same idea, so the Supreme Court very well could overrule Obergefell v. Hodges in the coming years.

I'm from Spain and this scene is quite accurate in some aspects but not in others.
There is a leftist tendence in our country since 2011 and the Indignados Movement (similar to Occupy Wall Street, but in Madrid's Puerta del Sol) BUT there is NO way that Catalonia gets independence or the whole parliamentary system goes to hell so easily. In fact most of the military are kinda right-wing, so there would be a civil war before letting an extreme-left party to govern Spain and expel the Royal Family.
Also, if Spain and/or Italy leaves the euro (and the EU) it would collapse. It would be much worse than this.

    • @ThyFacelessOne
      @ThyFacelessOne Před rokem

I' m from Hungary, it will not happen here.
      Reasons:
      - people who are young and healthy and good at what they do are going abroad, the ones left here are sick, feeble, elderly, those not wishing to work, just to get money after giving birth to children (gypsies and Hungarian mothers) and those who are allied with the current system and benefitting from it as people in leading positions per country regions and those citizens who also serve them unquestioningly
      - people are inherently afraid of anything new and not conservative, even despite LGBTQ people is in high numbers amongst 2/3 majority parliamentary party
      - lots of scandals came out, like one of the politicians did drug parties from public revenues, other one was in LGBTQ orgies in Brussels, third one used public money to have an over-the-top expensive yacht party with lots of supermodels, by cheating his wife - and the most important part is anti-EU, anti-LGBTQ, moral and nice living
      - the ruling party changing its colours well, and a nice populist one - it had been liberal in the beginning, then they became right-wing extremist, and now Putin-supporters
      - they do use the principle divide and conquer well: they always find a target group whom they demonize: liberals, teachers, LGBTQ, illegal migrants, all sorts of non-white Hungarians, list goes on
      - not many changes happened during their reign, they merely made themselves richer and did some things which was met with the approval of lots of people in the country: fence against illegal migrants, made a law in which they made LGBTQ synonymous with pedophilia, if there are any problems there are 3 culprits for it: European Union, Brussels, Gyurcsány Ferenc
      - we had a leftist politician (on paper he is that, in reality neo-liberal) between 2005 to 2010, he is called Gyurcsány Ferenc, who said on a closed session, which was later came to light: We f*cked up, not a little, a lot
      - it happened during the first economic recession of 21st century, people had it hard
      - he resigned at end of 2008, and in 2009 a team of economic specialists handled the solving of crisis
      - here you can be fired from your job on a whim, there are no trade unions whom you can protect you, or funds would be immediately withdrawn from them
      - all key positions and almost all positions altogether in courts, politics, associations, companies is in the hands of government' s friends and also majority of media
      - if anyone is speaking against them, they will be fired from job, ridiculed, had a campaign against the person, demonized
      - in 2010 the fidesz came into power with 2/3 majority, ever since they can and will hold it for a number reasons:
Reason 1: they overwrote the Hungarian Constitution, and changed it to something called the Book of Basic Laws, that Book of Basic Laws ever since has been modified 10 times yearly
Reason 2: they are giving lots of support and dole for those who give birth to children - so much, those people do not have to work at all
Reason 3: they create menial jobs in countryside for people who are not really good at anything
Reason 4: starting from 1920 Hungary has have had 3 major leaders, Orbán Viktor, Horthy Miklós and Kádár János, who ruled for most parts during this period to this day (ages when others ruled merely counts as 25 years). Hungarian people has a mindset that they love to be told what to do, a lot of them, they need a leader figure who kinda feels like a safe conservative father figure (they also prefer the father figure to endorse religion, so Orbán did made ethics/morality OR religious studies compulsory in school)
      - ordinary citizens, unless corrupt to the core or friends with them, need to work a lot, and barely makes a living

Also, in the extremely unlikely event that the USA cut all of their funding towards the UN, American corporations (especially those not aligned with Trump and the far-right) would most likely compensate for it - the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation already donates $300 million a year to the UN, and if the USA cut funding I would expect that figure alone to go up significantly.
