Thank you for this video. I was always afraid of crossing roads, but now I can cross properly. Thanks to you ❤
You explained so simple, that is “less work/more work concept.”
It is simple to understand, that’s why you are different from other videos”. 👍
This is exactly what I need as I have been daunted by crossroads and junctions when I'm turning right. Great job and God bless u! Kind regards 👍🏼
Hi dane,I passed my driving test today.Thank you so much. All your videos have so much information with clear instructions.Really helpful. Thanks a lot.
If every instructor would be so clear about the rules - giving you a perfect explanation like you Dane - failure rate would be so much smaller on tests.
Many thanks sir, you just cleared my confusion at a rate of a 100%.
You are fantastic, Dane. All your videos are very helpful and you have explained very clearly. Thanks a lot
Sathya Mohan thank you very much Sathya, you are very welcome, glad to hear you are enjoying them. I hope to make plenty more. The aim is to make one or two per week if time permits ☺️
This was the most helpful video I've watched in regards to right of way.
Thank you so much! Very informative & thorough
Brianna Jean-Mary Great to hear you enjoyed it and benefited from it, your very welcome, best of luck with your driving 😊
This helped me - even though I've been driving for 30 years. I've never turned with the opposing driver but there's always a first. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the upload Dane. Clear and precise. Much appreciated!
thanks so much. this was wrecking my head when preparing for the test.
someone today flashed his headlights to give me way when he was doing "less work" on turning left and i was turning right...
was weird this is why I am here! nicely explained 👍
Sometimes that can happen, you can go but make sure you are safe to do so.
So helpful thank you
the only video to explain it so easily that it’s totally cleared up any confusion I had 👍🏻
Great explanation! Think I owe someone an apology after my drive home today!!
Cheers Dane mate... Well explained and in detail. How come i aint see a detailed one like this. Got my teat Feb 4th
Very informative as always. Please, tell us about mini roundabouts and who has priority when approaching them, if possible. Thanks a lot for your time and effort.
Thank you so much for this video, I am still a little nervous for when the opportunity arises that I turn right at the same time as a car opposite me
So good presentation. Perfect clear. Unfortunately didnt watch before my first drive test. Failed. After got lot more information which helpful in future and in next drive test. Thanks for your dedication. You truely impressed. 😍
+Rita Raj Sorry to hear about your test, but keep trying amd you'll do better next time. Best wishes with your driving.
Thank u makes sence people keep telling me that it is about whos on your right side. But it dose not make sence to me. Lots of roads are different with different situations on them..
Giving way to the right is important on roundabouts but this is a Crossroads - very different situation.
Great video as always dane! Just one question.. Who goes first if both are going straight on? Does the same rule apply as when both are turning right? Just want to be sure, thanks ps could you make video about stopping before those lines where you are obliged to yield to pedestrians? Thanks
If both are going straight then both vehicles should be able to go at the same time.
So basically..whoever is fastest and takes the least amount of time, lol. Boy-racers are going to love this.
Hi Dane, if you are going straight from the minor to minor (through the major) and the car opposite is turning right into the major but they get to the stop line a fraction before you do, would you give them right of way as they got to the line first?
Hi, What about turning right in the same scenario? Thanks for your videos :)
I don't know what you mean, I've discussed turning right in the video and I give a practical demonstration of a right turn at the end of the video 🤔
@@DaneTygheletsdrive my bad, i guess watching too many driving lessons videos. Thanks again for your videos.
Also, as you're supposed to give way to cars on the right, in the even of a diagram that has cars on all sides of the road, as each car will have a car to their right, which order are you going in or whose right is more important?
Does ease of turning take priority over the rules
What if the person on the top side turning left and the person turning right? The person on the top side has right of way as I understand. Is that correct?
Why do you say that? If both cars are doing the same amount of work it could come down to who has actually started their turn. But in reality both can turn at the same time if safe.
Can i aslo ask you a queshtion on roundabouts.a roundabout that has no lane marking to go left right or straight ahead.to go straight ahead how do u know what lane to be into go ahead at a roundabout?
Keep left if going straight (12 o clock) anything to the right of 12 o clock then you should be in the right lane
@@safcforme3475 no need to be rude and i have come across on my lessons on mini roundabouts where they are no arrows on the road for going straight ahead as i was new to driving but i do understand now.i would get confused on what side i should place my car on going straight ahead
Do you always have major and minor roads? In mainland Europe, if both roads are of same priority, then the vehicle from the right has right of way. But no one knew a situation of both roads having same priority when I visited Ireland. Sort of made me apprehensive of driving there.
In mainland Europe if both roads are of the same priority the vehicle from the right has right of way? That simply makes zero sense.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive I found a Australian CZcams video which explained the situation. But the confusing part is that the vehicle from the right has right of way even in Australia despite driving on the other side.
Nevertheless, the term they used is unsigned crossroad. Do you have unsigned crossroads in Ireland?
That simply makes zero sense. -- That is one of the basic/beginner rules you learn here in Austria and Germany at least. As far as I know, it is same in all other ones in mainland as well. It is called the "rechts vor links" ie right before left rule. It is used when you drive in a township where all roads have equal priority. I found a Wikipedia article called "priority to the right".
Maybe I misinterpreted your question, in Ireland if the crossroads is unmarked and it's not clear who has priority then traffic on the right and traffic already turning has priority.
As far as I know they drive on the same side of the road in Australia - the left. So what do you mean by despite driving on the other side?
This may seem like the silliest question, but how can you tell from a diagram which is the main road? In the even that no yield road markings are present
Which diagram are you referring to? The stop line and white yield triangle indicates stopping or yielding is necessary
@@DaneTygheletsdrive oh i mean as you say the main road has priority, as you're driving in this video you can tell you're on the main road because you're on the road. But i had a paper with practice questions and no yield signs on the crossroad diagrams, so im wondering if theres a general rule to know which rooad has priority or is the major one
Thank you for your detailed video by the way, hoping to pass soon :P
On an unmarked crossroads give way to traffic on the right or traffic already turning. Glad you like the videos 👍
If a driver on the main road is waiting to enter a junction on the opposite side of the road and there is a car waiting to exit that same junction turning right, who has right of way?
Typing it out has pretty much confirmed to me the driver on the main road has prority. A lot of the time in these situations the main road driver is hesistant to turn in and gaps in traffic are not taken.
It sounds like the driver on the main road has right of way because the other driver should have a yield or stop sign to deal with. That essentially means that he must yield or stop to the other road users who have priority.
Its weird how i was turning left on a crossroads and ar opposite was coming in my road on left and instructor said they had a right of way.my ledt turn was their right
At a Crossroads the important question to ask is who is doing more work (or who has turned first) , and that depends on who is crossing two lanes. Crossroads are not roundabouts, its not about who's on the right. If we applied that logic it would make absolutely no sense because everybody is on the right when a driver looks across the road on a Crossroads at the waiting traffic.
Sounds like your driving Instructor could be a little confused.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive yh i was confused myself because i was turning left at a traffic light crossroads.and she showed me a booklet which had a diagram that i should be looking opposite at whos turning right in my left turn.and that i could fail like this
Is it bad im watching this having been driving for 5+ years and have been getting this wrong :/ It is awkward though if you reached the crossroads slightly before the person turning left and you wish to turn right, I feel like they should let you go first lol
Gosh. I'm german. I could cause trafic troubles if I come in England 🏴!
Anyone could, but as long as you don't cause traffic trouble in Ireland then I'd be reasonably satisfied 🙂
Beannachtaí agus go n-éirí leat.
I can't understand why there's no right-hand rule as in any normal country.
Are we to assume that these rules are universal across the globe? I don't think that's a wise assumption, although it would be good if that was the case.
I think it's better for these rule videos to state the country that there rules apply to or just say in the video that the rules are universal. If not then state which country (countries) in the title below the video. I've now stopped listening to this after 12 seconds and I'm not going to assume this video is for Ireland. I just gave a thumbs down too.
There is a little Irish flag on all my thumbnails so I daresay this might be a slight hint that this video refers to Ireland, and the UK is very similar so it would apply for both Ireland and the UK.
It would be great if there was universal rules of the road all over the world but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
May I ask where you are from?
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Thanks for the reply. I wrote that quite a while back. I was reading the video explanation, but didn't see where the rules applied. I was initially thinking Ireland. I can see now that all the videos have the intro screen for a second at the beginning with the little Irish flag at the top left corner.
I'm from England, so I'll watch the video again. I removed the thumbs down now. It was a frustrating day that day and I couldn't find anything better than the book I had.
Perfectly explained, cleared up some concerns I had about right of way. Many thanks!
My pleasure, best wishes
