  • Trainers at the California National Primate Research Center use dried papaya and other treats for positive reinforcement training with rhesus macaque monkeys. Rewarding the animals with treats after they exhibit appropriate actions, such as staying put or moving to where the trainer wants them to go, has shown to have numerous benefits for the animal and staff at the CNPRC.

I would love to work somewhere like this. Could I apply for a job here with a medical lab technician degree?

You can teach them a lot , but they refuse to be potty trained. Even a Cat can be potty trained!

You can't potty train a monkey because the action of going to the bathroom has zero meaning a cat for example will hide there feces from predators or to keep there den clean and sanitary so they already have the concept of going to the bathroom or using the litterbox a monkey has evolved to live in trees they don't need to hide it from predators or worry about hygiene because they go and it just drops to the ground they don't sleep on the ground so it doesn't matter and that's why they cannot be toilet trained I have heard of some having success with baby monkeys once they reach adulthood they immediately stop doing

Also I didn't make it clear on a few things I actually own two macaques you can potty train them in a sense my animals know to go to there cage or enclosure if they have to go instead of the house I have had them ten years now and they will even signal if they have to go
