I'm sorry it came out kinda boring but i realized I couldn't film all the cool stuff I get to do and see because of all the confidential information i work with.

Hopefully you answer but do you need to know math a lot of it and is it difficult and is it hard to get into?

nope! no math! it helps to know when you're working with cases that deal with child support and spousal support but we used a database that would give us the numbers we needed based on their information.
For this particular program, yes. It is very competitive depending on which site you're applying too and which counties you're working in. But it's worth it! it's a great experience.

Did they pay you for your internship? If not how did you make money working full time

Yes, it's paid but you don't get the money until after you've finished the required hours. I was not working full time at the court and I had another job at a tax firm and then a retail store while interning. So I had other forms of income while working at the court.

What do you usually do as a family law intern? Im planning to go into the family courts but will go thru a paralegal program first before and during law school. What is there to except and is it does it really take an emotional toll like how ive heard

as a family law intern I got to work hands on with clients. Here is a typical scenario of what a day at work was like:
Once I get to the office I log into one of the computer stations and then check in with the receptionist to see who they have signed up. At the SD county courts, people wait in line and are signed up to be seen by us and then from that list, interns, paralegals, and attorneys work their way down the list.
As an intern, there were a few things we were not allowed to take on such as finalizing/starting divorces and judgments. Other than that, interns can start custody cases, modify them, do emergency orders (depending on the circumstances), and much more. It just depended on what the client was coming for.
Once you take a client, you gather the necessary forms they were given, input their info on a database, and begin to fill out all the required legal documents they need to proceed with their case.
Once finished, you have it reviewed by an attorney to ensure everything is done absolutely correct and once they sign it off, you go to your client and review it with them and have them sign.
Usually after that, you just answer any questions they may have and let them know about any court fees they may have to pay.
Emotionally, yes. it can and sometimes will take a toll. But I find that it helps to remember why you've chosen this field and the big impact you're making in the client's life and their families.
