A few things; It's a short flight from LAX to Vegas. That's about an hour total. Alaska Airlines has a few airports that are considered "Early Sit" destinations (which the flight attendant stated). These early sit destinations mean that flight attendants MUST be seated early for landing. Typically they sit around the 10,000 ft point on descent, an early sit, they will be seated by 18,000 ft, which is approximately 20-25 minutes before landing. So that 1 hr flight, means the flight attendants are seated the last half of the flight. To start, the flight attendants have to be seated after takeoff. That's about 10-20 minutes seated at the start of the flight. In total, to do a "full service", that leaves the F/A's 20 minutes to do a full service and clean up. That's not a lot of time. If turbulence is forecasted for the flight, the safety of the flight crew trumps a guest getting their morning coffee, which was offered BEFORE door closure.
Second point, Alaska Airlines and most airlines in the US do not control TSA. Some airlines will have priority TSA, but that's not the case in LAX. Get TSA pre-check or CLEAR.
Also it's LAX-LAS. I wouldn't expect much on ANY flight that short.

Probably could've driven to Vegas from L.A. in the same time it took to get to the airport, find parking, check in baggage, go through security, wait for the plane to take off and then land, collect luggage, get a rental car.

That's what I do, drive to LAS. A simple 4.5 hour drive with pit stops and food at Baker along the I-15, coming from southern LA area. Once you get near the CA/NV state line, follow the speed limit before and after the border line. =)

@@babetravelling Thinking back. Perhaps the Pilot had a severe turbulence warning from pilots flying ahead of your plane. I'm giving the aircrew a benefit of a doubt. Overall, I absolutely trust the cabin and flight crew to get me where I want to go in one piece as I'm sure they want to get there in the same condition. Customer/passenger service is another story.
Never flown Alaska Airlines but recently signed up for their credit card for bonus miles in anticipation of their merger with Hawaiian Air to merge my HIair and AKair miles in the future.

if the captain has some forecast that major turbulence could happen, he/she has to be mindful of the safety of crew. Turbulence is able to come on super fast and hit you out of no where, and you can hit the ceiling with a cart and coffee on it and really hurt yourself, or even die. I had a flight attendant friend who hit the ceiling in undetected turbulence that injured her neck very badly.

It's an hour flight. Flight attendants are seated the first 10-20 minutes at the start and because it's an early sit, they MUST be seated the last 20-30 minutes of the flight. "Early sit" destination is one that has predicted turbulence and high altitude airport.
An hour flight and the flight attendants are seated over half of the flight time, there's no time for service. Especially if there's turbulence forecasted.

@@babetravelling No flights are the same. I'm sure if you re-did the flight on Alaska on a different day, you'd have a different experience. Other airlines have similar procedures and go through the same thing.
(I'm an airline pilot). Once did a flight that was 50 minutes long. We had flight attendants suspend service because there was SEVERE turbulence reported above us AND below us. Earlier in the trip, we encountered severe turbulence on another flight and didn't want a repeat, so for safety, we sat the flight attendants down the entire 45 minute flight. Fortunately we planned perfectly and didn't feel any turbulence during the flight.
Passengers were informed of this prior to departure but because we had no turbulence, people complained about the lack of service.
I will ALWAYS put people's safety before the need for a coca cola.

That's unfortunate that you didn't get to enjoy their service. IMO they have the best service out of all of the major US carriers.
I have flown them twice on First from JFK-SAN and SEA-ORD. Both times, the crew were amazing and so was the selection of food and beverages. I got good deals on both and totally thought it was worth it
Hoping you get to experience that another time!
Also, to my knowledge, in the US/Canada, FastTrack security with a first/business class ticket isn't common - I've seen that more in Europe and the Middle East.

You only get preferential treatment in Asia because of your skin color. For other people, because race is not in play, the service provided in North America is way ahead of Asia. And service is not just about being fawning and servile but that’s clearly the definition you have in mind.
