When I walked in for breakfast and perused the menu at this 60-year-old eatery located right opposite Ernakulam’s historic Siva temple, I couldn't help but wonder if there was a connection to Udupi. A fact that was corroborated by the owner, Mrs. Meena Mohan, whose husband’s family migrated from South Canara nearly a century ago to perform religious duties in Kochi. And Gokul Ooottupra, too, seems to cater to its patrons in the same attitude of service and tradition, I discovered over my leisurely meal here. From staple classics like the vada, dosae, kadla puttu curry, yelle adda to a few inspired creations like the peri peri idli, the vegetarian fare here is the sort that draws in customers by the hundreds each day. If you find yourself in Kochi and are craving a vegetarian meal, look no further. Hope you enjoy this watch. Take care, stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

that slow mo back shot is awesome. Feels like top brass of a corporate going into the kitchen.
Superb share

U r simpli awesome sir, I salute u.....
Good afternoon dear Kripal - I simply love your attire & Hat 🎩 ( Hat that matches with every outfit ) . Oh it’s Gokul Ootapura . Have been to this place with my family. Beautiful ambience & good quality 👍👍 Great way to start the breakfast with a hot glass of Coffee . Wow they have 5 branches . My favourite part of the vlog - Kitchen tour 👌 Loves the preparation of the Podi Masala Dosa 😋 One of my favourites is the Mini Idli soaked in sambhar and a dash of coconut chutney 👍 Ha ha ha time for the Ulundu Vada and glad that you enjoyed the UV as compared to the Idli . Wow Peri Peri Idli is something unique. Nai Masala Dosa looks yummy 🤤 Peri Peri Masala small idli . My daughter would enjoy it . Possibly this is more for the youngsters . Now for the traditional Puttu with Kadala curry ( my dad’s favourite ) . That looks to be an authentic KC with Puttu . Aah now it’s the proper way to eat the P with KC and smashed with a Papdam . The ellai ada is a perfect dessert post a savoury breakfast . Mrs Mohan is a sweet lady with lots of stories. Your interaction with Mrs Mohan was quite inspiring . The fact that they offer the staff with the same restaurant food ( no separate meals for them ) . That’s the hallmark of a Restaurant which is rich in its values & culture. Thoroughly enjoyed the vlog 👍👍👍 You take care and loads of love & respect 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
Most beautiful and delicate dosa. The Kula and Puttu look divine. This is my kind of breakfast.
Gokul Ootupura is excellent esp the one in Panampally Nagar & this one near the temple .My fav is Podi Dosa

@13:31 Boss gets up respectfully when she comes to his table to converse. Proud of our culture.
Very nice to see you reviewing different dishes in such detail. But if you are only tasting a little bit of the dishes, then you should ask for a miniature version of each so that the food does not get wasted.
Sambar recepi video upload pls sir
Super sir ji 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love food lover's Tv
Welcome to Kerala Gods own Country. Watching from California. You are very kind gentleman.
God's own country?😂😂. If it is God's country, why are you in California??😂. You should be close to God, shouldn't you??😊
God's own country- all faithfuls outside,,land of slogans
Of course, this is God's Own Country, but the people who are in power are really DEVILS👺👹👿, who spoil the state. They are third class GOONS, culture less.
This is pure foodgasm
Beautiful
Kripal sir, I am practicing as an advocate in district court, Ernakulam which is near to Shiva temple that u stood in the intro. Would have loved to meet u. Guess, i missed by a day.
My favourite hotel❤️
Please add the individual prices too
You should visit Rehmania...for non veg food when you are in Kochi specially...
Gokul Oottupura @kadavanthra is quite ok as well
Dose lover ❤👍
That red chutney reminds me of red chilly chutney which I have tasted in Andhra Pradesh
Thats true. You will get authentic Kerala food here. Try lunch once. They serve one of the best meals, with payasam ( gheer)
I hope to.
Kheer
Best Sambar in Kochi. Their Bullet idli, Cheese Chilli Dosa and gobi 65 my favorite.
Noticed the restaurant is very spacious
Sir, come to Trivandrum the CAPITAL of Kerala. You will find lots of veg options and that too at reasonable rate and good taste 😊.
Is this in BTH?
I was a regular in that place !!!
Please do visit Bimbis and post the video.
Good one, Manna - glad to see that you finally got to taste the real dosa - the Kerala dosa, which is absolutely delicious. Until the next time, take care, stay safe, stay strong …and happy eating Dosha 😂
Hence your theory of South canara connection proved 😅
Thanks Kripal, I went here, food was delicious , we went for lunch, unfortunately meals were over, we had to eat dosa and curd rice, which was delicious. Its testimony of their food taste that lunch was over by 2.00 pm
1:53 we call it as 'Boli'. The very famous item in our sadhya. Welcome to Kerala 👍
The real kerala dosa( as called), is not crisp, but soft and pale with slight brownish flecks. This is the home made and small eatery ,ones that can be had late evening, when hunger pangs strike or just because you want one. The coconut chutney is ground only with coconut and green chillies or with a little piece of onion or shallots and red chillies
. Tempered with curry leaves and mustard seeds. This is how we ( I, remember enjoying the subtle flavors, of dosa, during our childhood and as young adults). As years, roll by, textures and flavors are adapted to change and evolve for the younger generation . But, his presentation, and the food served are class.
In most of the hotels in Ernakulam, the dosas are so thin and small (but, unjustifiably expensive) that, if you are hungry, you need to take at least 4.
Brother its thin but at the same time large in size. The amount of batter is same when compared to other state dosas.
I am from Ernakulam and not a stranger to Karnataka.. With due respect, I would like to disagree.
Those thin dosas in Ernakulam are delicious. The one which you get in Karnataka are thick and tasteless.
But that's more delicious according to me
You should be thankful if you have to eat more than 1 dosa anywhere. That means they don't add cooking soda which bloats you. If you prepare dosa at home you end up having 3-4 as no soda is used for cooking
In kollam you can go to Guru Prasad hotel of Karnataka
GOOD morning all friends
Kerala meduwadas are bomb btw i can have anytime anywhere
Such a great thing to not put sugar in the batter. The crispyness and reddish colour of dose in Karnataka and elsewhere might look good but its not good for breakfast. Well done to these owners for keeping it natural and real.
Kripal surely didnt like the idli and the wada...
Surprising for a south veg restaurant.
Kripal, while in Ernakulam, don't miss Bharat Tourist Home (BTH), Woodlands hotel and Hotel Dwaraka. Also, Bimbis.
I am told Dwaraka closed some years ago.
Ya they are authentic typical Kerala food ..and very delicious ❤
👍
❤❤❤
Again in Udupi connection, your parents place.
Kerala food is very healthy and fresh .
❤
Mr Amana get n convey all the information briefly .
❤❤❤❤❤❤
The GOAT 🐐in Kochi - pls do visit Gujarati street and Mattancherry to try some authentic dishes of Gujarat, Konkani and much more - also visit Shantilal for sweets
Mouth watering 😂
The remark on your preference for the coffee to be a bit stronger, it seems In Kerala people prefer lighter coffee even though it is a filter coffee. On the flip side Kerala people find Karnataka coffee too strong. A light coffee by Karnataka standards it a strong coffee for most Keralites
Where Odisha in there. U Sir plz take some research on that. Who was the King & Rules and which was the place...
Sorry my grammar.
So i bought lunch once and was served cold
Highwayil എവിടാണ് , give me root map for all, gokul restaurant
