    Who is a person in the history of your country that you are grateful for?

      I am grateful to my grandparents for defeating Nazi Germany in World War II and allowing me the opportunity to live freely, rather than in a German concentration camp.

      I have to search for historical women in my country because I do not know much about them. I just know their names, so I can not introduce about her to others. Anyway thanks for giving me a opportunity to research this issue.

    Clara was born in 1886, as you said. But at that time, there was no independent Ukrainian state. And the name "Ukraine" didn't exist either. Part of the territory of modern Ukraine was in the Russian Empire, part in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and a small part in Romania. She was born in one of these three countries.

    • @ryzhokhina
      @ryzhokhina Před měsícem +1

      @Regnumv “Ukrainian” has been mentioned in 1187 in historical chronicles and earlier. And think it does not worth to emphasize where if Ukraine exists or not in that time. The main idea, I think, was to explain in which land this woman was born.

      @@ryzhokhina Dear friend, this is not the place to engage in political debates. It's enough to know what's written in Clara's birth certificate. And it says: Clara Lemlich Shavelson; March 28, 1886, Gorodok, Kamenets-Podolsky Uyezd, Podolsk Governorate, Russian Empire. That's all we need to know.

    • @EnglishCoach3Ts
      @EnglishCoach3Ts  Před měsícem +2

      Yes. You are right. I could have said, "She was born in what is not Ukraine."

    • @EnglishCoach3Ts
      @EnglishCoach3Ts  Před měsícem +1

      @ryzhokhina Thank you for adding to the conversation. Yes, the main idea was to give an idea of where she came from.

    Tanya, you're scaring me! It's a relief that in the latest short video demonstrating new words, you used paper towels instead of a baseball. That was very dangerous. For the next video, it looks like I'll need to buy you a helmet and knee pads!😄

    It's interesting that in the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century, there was a very serious revolutionary situation. The empire was boiling. All the political parties advocating for an armed state coup (or revolution) were led by Jews. It's strange that Clara didn't become a revolutionary in Russia but instead went to the United States to foment uprising there.

      I doubt that she had a choice as she was a minor and came because her parents brought her.
