    This is something I still struggle with. That's why I am kind off a hybrid player between Tongue Blocking and Puckering. Thanks, Liam!

    Thanks for the tips! I've been dominantly using the tongue block embouchure since one of the first laces I watched videos from low-key condemned it, but I'd been puckering in order to work on bending. I'll probably keep doing it that way until I get the basics down, but it's good to know that there is a way to bend while tongue blocking

    Thanks a lot for this demo but it's not easy to accomplish for an old beginner as me but who knows after a while of practicing :-)

    Thanks Liam! This topic is not covered very often - so I appreciate it much!
    When tongue-block bending, do you also do a sideways motion with the middle part of the tongue, or is the movement only perpendicular to the harp?

    I can easily bend lower notes TB, but on those bends, which I get (lip pursing) with the tip of my tongue, I have a problem.

  • @pi19rimx

    i use curled tongue blocking, because it is easy for me to get clear clean notes that way. i can bend fine when puckering, but not at hitting clean notes. I can't seem to bend at all when using tongue curling though. I'm still fairly new though. should I just retrain myself to use puckering, or are there good techniques for bending using tongue curling?

    Here’s a question about tongue blocking: what do you do for holes 1 and 2? Tongue blocking makes sense for holes 4 and up (and to some degree 3) but I feel like my whole mouth is off of the harp trying to tongue block on hole 1 and hole 2 isn’t much better and also terribly inaccurate and I end up drawing on hole 3 instead. Do people tongue block on the lower holes or switch to pursing?

    • @Learntheharmonica
      @Learntheharmonica  Před 3 měsíci +1

      This is a great question! Different players have their own approach - some switch to pursing, some do a narrowed block, and some even do a reverse block (switching the tongue to block the higher notes). I do a mix of all of them depending on context!

    Fuuuuck. I’ve been trying to do this for years. I could aways do the low notes but not higher ones. Just did the 4 note on a D for the first time ever. You broke through to my larynx. Watched loads of lessons before. Still can’t bend it far as far as puckering but it’s still a breakthrough. Does it take loads of practice too to get the muscle strength?

    • @user-sl8jl2kw2s
      @user-sl8jl2kw2s Před 4 měsíci

      I also need to push the harmonica further into my mouth and to the side for it to work deeper.

    • @user-sl8jl2kw2s
      @user-sl8jl2kw2s Před 4 měsíci

      On the 3rd I can get 4 notes out it puckering but blocking is so much harder, but it’s coming. It must be muscle strength too. Now I’ve had this breakthrough I’ll want to play loads more again. Nice one fella. Thanks!
