  • As I am getting Project "Come And Take It" closer to completion, of course the most rewarding part of the project is hearing the motor fire up for the first time. In this case some unknown and unfamiliar wiring has me chasing down some gremlins in order to get the car to fire up! See how I fixed the no-fuel pump power issue by going through all of the possible wiring points.

    Always great to hear 5.0l fire off , nothing like that sound, she sounds great. Looking so sweet under the hood, can't wait to see the first burnout Chris.

    Just wondering if when you were going thro this were you “Holding” fuel pressure or put key on before you got to the connector fix? You heard the relay clicking but did you get fuel pressure at all on the gauge?

      It's behind the climate controls. You can can your hand up there from under the dash on the driver's side and unplug the one side of the module and it will kill the chime

      @@TheInfamousProject appreciate the quick response.
      My upper intake gasket was broken near the fuel rails, so maybe that’s the cause of my white smoke?
      Then for my oil I think it’s the rear main seal.
      But no coolant in my oil or vice versa!
      Thanks again!

    I just did a 4cyl to v8 swap and I am running into a no start issue. My car cranks and acts like it wants to start. I swapped everything from a wrecked car that ran before I tore it apart. The only difference is the wrecked car has the black and grey harness connectors coming through the firewall on the driver side behind the strut tower, and the new car has the orange colored connector like your car. So I ordered a used harness that has the same orange connector as my new cars dash harness, but It’s still not starting. The pump primes, and it’s getting spark so idk what to do next. Any advice?

    • @TheInfamousProject
      @TheInfamousProject  Před 2 lety

      Does it start with brake clean? Have you confirmed fuel at the rail? Injector pulse? Timing is set correctly?

    Can anyone help me? I have a 1990 4 cylinder and bought a rotted out 1990 donor V8 car. I put literally everything in the 4 cylinder, ecu, harness.. everything. Both ran great before the swap. Now when I turn the key, the fuel pump doesn’t turn on and it doesn’t crank. Any idea where I should look. I spent a full day trying to find anything disconnected.
    Edit: I’ll check that connection by the kick panel. But will that cause it to not crank as well?

    • @TheInfamousProject
      @TheInfamousProject  Před 7 dny

      Does the coil get power with the key on? If so you probably have a neutral safety issue at the transmission harness coming out of the trans tunnel. Fuel pump could be the inertia switch or relay. Did you swap complete body harnesses or only the engine harnesses?

    • @DjDestinyChicago
      @DjDestinyChicago Před 7 dny

      @@TheInfamousProject the coil does get power. I immediately checked the inertia switch and made sure all connections were connected including the transmission. I just did the the engine harness, I still have every wire from the donor car though. Should I change the front harness that goes to the alternator, headlights and coil? Also I see that there’s a fuel pump relay under the driver seat and the V8 car had one under the hood on the passenger side

    • @TheInfamousProject
      @TheInfamousProject  Před 7 dny

      Your V8 car did not have a 1990 harness if the fuel pump relay was under the hood. In this case you need to swap the whole body harness including the dash etc from the donor.

    • @DjDestinyChicago
      @DjDestinyChicago Před 7 dny

      @@TheInfamousProject hmm the vin matches the title and it says 1990 🤷🏻‍♂️ I might be wrong about that being the fuel pump relay. There was one relay under the MAF. I see the 92-93 have 2 relays there. Let me see if I can find out what that is if it’s not for the fuel pump. Ha I just looked it up and that’s the A/C relay. The donor car is definitely a completely unmodified stock 1990.

    • @TheInfamousProject
      @TheInfamousProject  Před 7 dny

      @@DjDestinyChicago ok then turn the key forward spray brake clean in the throttle body and jump the solenoid and see if it runs. If so then sounds like you just need to figure out your fuel issue. If not then there is more to the equation...
