- The Spectral is Canyons do it all, any day, any trail weapon. The Spectral has been in Canyons line up for well over a decade. This new model brings it back to its roots of a short travel ripper ready for anything. Canyon’s goal here was to make it ready to take on all types of terrain under many different levels of riders. While the previous generation sort of blended into the Enduro bike spectrum, the 2024 model has seen a reduction in travel to emphasize its all around trail bike persona.

Wow, a mountain manufacturer going down in travel for once, usually bigger is better is one of the marketing terms they use to sell more bikes, owning a 120 rear 130 front bike myself I know how capable and fun short travel bikes are.
Could this bike support a heavier rider with 140 mm travel? I’m about 230 lbs kitted and very skeptical of blowing right through that shock. The presenter is 170 lbs and using 3 volume spacers. Wish I could test one. What do you guys think?
Great overview, looks like a great all a rounder trail bike. Great spec and cool that you can remove the KIS system if you prefer not to use it
Heck yeah, thank you! I think they nailed the spec with the CF 9
So, Jeffsy or Spectral?
I am 6 foot- 200lbs and was looking at large frame… would I be closer to medium
I would have to say so. The 475mm reach is super comfortable for me at 6’ 1”. If you wanted a bet more room you could always bump up the stem. I think “mid” travel bikes like this are often better on the smaller side, really helps it keep its playful feel
Will depend on your proportions. If you're average or long-bodied, large may suit. Medium for sure if you've got long legs or prefer a more agile handling.
Kinda funny that a 140/150 29’er is now considered “short travel.”
Fair enough point! To me it’s short travel! Having rode mostly 160+ rears 140 feels short. It I think you are right, this is more “mid” travel. Noted! Thanks for watching
I know right, that used to be an all mountain bike back in the day, and 120 used to be a trail bike, now 120 is classed as a cross country bike, but its good to see a manufacturer not using the usual more is better marketing for once.
It's all due to how well suspension is managed nowadays! Far less of the downsides so it's just more beneficial in more cases to have some extra stroke
With 1,83 and 87 cm which size can i go M or L
Looks like a nice generational upgrade.
Just bummed they went for a 210x55 shock instead of sticking with a 230 or 205 x60 or even 62.5, as I feel this is what makes me more comfortable on longer travel bikes, because I can set up the shock a lot better at a rather high body weight.
I'm guessing this is for the spectral 125 that will use a 210x47.5 or x50
Great input thanks for sharing.
You could get the larger negative air can to retain more off the top suppleness while getting that ramp up. Or the HBO option I think would work really well on this frame!
I absolutely love mine and this color
Huge weight diference betwen CF8 and CF8 '24
is the bike coil compatable?
Yes, the CF8 CLLCTV build comes standard with one.
Kinda bummed about the 10mm shorter travel. Although this is very understandable, as the "enduro" category had 3 bikes.
It’s interesting since just about every brand is releasing their updated bikes with more travel and intention getting more aggressive every year. We’re not mad at it!
Looks good on paper but that seat tube kink is just not good for someone with stringy legs like me. Need a post I can slam😂
Haha. Cole is also very critical of dropped post lengths at 6’ with long legs. It’s rare he doesn’t point out a dropped isn’t long enough.
The post I was running is 240mm. There was still room for it to drop even lower. I know how you feel trust me. But with that said I never hit my boys on the seat. I have a 36.5” inseam
Thought I just watched a Canyon commercial.
Heck yeah, best compliment ever!
@@fullpullmtb lol. If you want us all to know who owns you. Sure.
I see what you’re saying, I was just talking in terms of quality. But no money was exchanged for this video. I am a fan of the bike what can I say
Hey thanks for the feedback on the video. We're always looking for notes on ways to improve. This video was not sponsored or paid for in any way, so we'd love to know what part of the presentation came across as a commercial? As we said, always looking to approve and we pride ourselves on being honest and truthful in our product reviews.
This being a first look on a brand new product, we felt it pertinent to share the different models and specs and what was updated compared to the outgoing bike, but perhaps we should skip all that and just focus on the riding characteristics?
Thanks for any further feedback.
Damn so the spectral 125 enjoyed a good 2 year life then
I bought a Canyon Spectral CF 8.0 a couple years ago. It was missing parts. I contacted their support and they told me they wouldn't send me the missing parts. I contacted fox, and they told me to contact Canyon. Finally I wrote a Twitter post and the folks at Fox sent me the missing parts. Canyon who built the bike, lost the parts, and sold me the bike with missing parts REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. Do not buy bikes from Canyon.
Canyon were absolutely brilliant with my warranty claim
Canyon calling it an everyday bike but size large basically has size XL enduro bike reach...
Which really only means taller people now have an option too. Stick to your preferred reach, no need to care about the name of the size
Big changes 🤣
Aside from the other changes, you don't think the travel reduction alone is a pretty significant change? We'd consider that a pretty notable difference.
@@TheLoamWolf I'd call them incremental, evolutionary - not revolutional
150/140 is best
No thanks Canyon.
KIS ruin this bike😂
We disagree! If you don't like it, it's removable.
Take it off brother.
Canyon has the worst colors. 🤦
