He also admitted he was working as Trumps lawyer while he got those checks were marked as legal fees by a employee that testified he makes that decision himself and Trump gave him no indtructions to. This isn’t television and it’s not a civil case. The former President clearly doesn’t understand just how much is at stake and how serious this really is for him. Neither do his proxies.
They fail to realise what even just a conviction without any jail time means. That result won’t change the mind of any Democrats or Trumpists, but it very probably will affect the votes of Independents, and in a close race that will be crucial. Remember the Biden campaign can be pushing the “are you really going to elect a convicted felon” line for months.

If they do something wrong and you confront them, they will immediately get defensive and try and turn it around on YOU; "you're making ME feel upset, you're making ME feel bad, you're attacking ME." (It's exactly his behavior right now. "I didn't do anything wrong, in fact the PROSECUTORS should be prosecuted" lol)
That's why his playbook is so predictable. This is the first time in his life he's facing consequences and he's not going to be able to handle it. Assuming a guilty verdict, he'll appeal and all the way to the day he goes to jail say he is innocent.
Even two E. Jean Carrol verdicts later and he STILL claims he didn't even know her. His opening defense in this trial is that "everyone is lying and I don't know Stormy." It's why the defense has been so abysmal. Defending someone guilty is difficult, defending someone who is guilty that refuses to follow advice of council is basically impossible.
