  • On today's edition of the Locked on FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Florida Panthers Historian Francisco Oporta(@fjojr and @FLACatsHistory) to break down the Panthers' 3-2 comeback win in Boston to take a 3-1 series lead. The Bruins got up to a 2-0 lead, but despite that, the game never felt out of reach for the Panthers with the amount of high danger chances they had on Jeremy Swayman. Florida was winning their battles around the boards and with their fast puck movement, helped get to the net front where two out their three goals on the night came from. One of those goals included a very controversial goal on special teams thanks to Sam Bennett. The narrative prior to game 4 was about what Bennett did or didn't do to forward Brad Marchand in game three that had him as a scratch for Sunday's game. It made Bennett a huge target going into game 4. The two chat about what Bruins Head Coach Jim Montgomery said postgame on the Bennett's goal standing as Charlie Coyle collided with Swayman in the blue paint and Bennett converted to tie the game at 2 3:41 of the third period. Florida finished the game without Sam Reinhart and Kyle Okposo was inserted on the top line and on power play two, and was a big contributor to the Panthers' third goal to take the lead and control. The third period also found the Bruins shooting themselves in the foot multiple times with interference calls that had the puck more on the Bruins end, making it hard to mount any type of effort to force overtime. The guys discuss their three stars of the game, when they thought the game was won, and a little bit of Mother's Day History. We discuss this and more on today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast: Your Team, Every Day.

I said last game we were in their heads whether it is because we beat them in the playoffs last season or we have more talent than they do

with the exception of game one when Florida hadn't played for a week. They've dominated most of the periods giving Boston signal digit shots on goal. And physically pushing them around. Something Boston is not used to. Florida is the high bar of the east . Expect to see them in the finals again

Coyle was already well in the crease in front of swayman moments before Bennett touched him, the only question is did Sam’s push fully cause the blockage, was Charlie far enough away that the push was the thing that caused swayman to not be able to slide? No, Charlie was already well into the blue/crease in the literal exact location swayman had to be to make that play just moments before Sam touched him, so without the push swayman still most likely can’t make that save with Coyle right in the way, or at least taking the goal away is very hard and it should be a hard call since it’s difficult to make the argument it was Sam’s fault when Charlie was already in the exact space Jeremy had to be before the push.

Paul Maurice is my star of that game. After the Cats fell behind 0-2 early on, Maurice stayed calm, focused and confident (because they were playing well). His steady attitude & presence sets the tone for the team and seems to filter down to the players. Even after Boston targeted Reinhart early on, the Cats did not take their bait and avoided needless penalties. Quite a departure from the Boston coach who often seems emotionally unstable with his constant crying to the refs.

      1) Look more closely. It’s not a marlins hat.
      2) the Panthers were basically at the same level of the Marlins 5 years ago, with uncertainty, relocation, wondering if the team is ever gonna come out of mediocrity, etc.
      3) if the Marlins ever become a contender again. I better not see you cheer for them. 😉

There’s been missed calls on both sides all series, but it’s especially hard to win a game when your team puts the same amount of shots on net the entire series as the other team does in one single game. Womp womp stay mad 🤣

The Bruins gave the panthers the game on a silver platter when they recorded as many shots this entire series as the panthers have in one single game. The cope is real and it’s here 🤣🤣, officiating is always spotty there have been bad calls not called on both sides, but playing like pure garbage at this point isn’t going to save a few missed calls that aren’t even close calls
