Mamamoo is high-key peak Coachella material, or any music festival for that matter. I feel like the audience will have a ton of fun with their song lineups. Their dance might not be as complicated as other Kpop idol groups, but I want to feel like I could dance and vibe with my idols' songs in a concert without feeling like I'm trying to audition for an agency, you know?
Why we don't see Mamamoo songs in survival show?
Because you need a power vocal like Solar, Hwasa's sultry voice, Moonbyuls swag and flow and Wheein's soft vocals and harmonies.
Not to mention in order to give justice to a Mamamoo song you need stage presence and live vocals. Not anyone can pull that off.
in my teenage girl, some contestants performed decalmonie and it was REALLY good. People said it was the best performance out of all of the performances in the survival show.

It's because their songs doesn't only require talent and mastery, there's also stage presence, connection as a group, individuality, and technique. They're beyond passion, professionalism, and friendship. They're THE Mamamoo, THE artists.

I think they should challenge trainees with a song from Mamamoo, see how well they can create harmonies together & sing live. I mean, MTG did it & it’s one of the more memorable performances (despite them removing the rap) & benefitted all of the trainees
RBW did that with Starry Night for Oneus before they debuted. Their version is still one of my favorite covers.

I watched that show too and that one made me anticipate because it was a MAMAMOO song. They really did a great job for 9 members. Hopefully I can watch a 4/5 member group perform MMM songs. That will really blow my mind. And got my respect hihi.

My teenage girl had Decalcomanie as a vocalist position battle song and they were good but sadly cut the rap parts out so it felt like something was missing.
3 out of 4 that sang Decalcomanie won and are now in class:y.

I've seen it maybe 2 times and before they were performed by whomever it was it was highly anticipated because, of course, their songs are vocally challenging. As well as it kind of was a way of seeing if you can really sing.
Yes, if they can cover Mamamoo, they most certainly really good vocalists! To much the original is really hard, so if they can reach it, then they must be really good candidates for the final lineup!
2 vocal bands were put into a concert with the living Legend Elton John. Killed both the vocal group's careers. The difference between vocal mastery and studio recording left those vocal groups wanting. MMM is the vocal equivalent of Elton John.

Their songs require A LOOOOT of different techniques that your average person can’t even pick up on by ear. They each have a big, powerful and unique vocal range that can go soft and light too.. lol trying to sing their songs live would backfire for most groups.. not only would it be extremely hard and damaging to vocal cords to record in the studio but then to sing it live while performing? Nah 😂 very few soloists have the vocal prowess to cover a mamamoo song and groups are even fewer
This is so true! It isn't only the high notes, it's those many different techniques hard to cover, that if the trainee or other artist aren't able of, will just have a really hard time to cover and it will not be a really good performance. But if they can, it's a great way to show their power as artists (but it's not really common to see them cover Mamamoo on survival shows, exactly because of this).
@@0nelink yep yep mamamoo from the high, chest, head, airy low tones ect. Not only do they have the vocals but they have an exceptional musical ear to be able to harmonize and execute and blend all their techniques consistently. Even in the US that shit is damn near unheard of in any group we’ve ever had. Most just sing their part and that’s it lol
I mean, I learned singing(not the western style though) and guitar, and I still couldn't pick up on many of the nuances until I tried singing along and actually heard myself. Even the ones that sound simple are delivered in a way that is VERY hard to imitate unless you are a decent vocalist

Their chemistry as friends who sing together is super hard to match. The confidence in their voices and stage presence isnt easy to achieve for trainees. someday they may break the stigma but now we just appreciate the original.
Songs require perfect harmony and strong vocal all around. Also the concept of Mamamoo is very unique and it’s hard to replicate.
theyre really good singers. u can see theyre singing live and they're really into singing. i see a lot of kpop groups just focus on dance but theyre true singers

I’ve seen a video of a survival show having them sing a MMM song. They sound good actually. But the thing is, MMM sing their songs in a powerful way. I think it’s called chesty(?). And that’s the reason why I stan them. Their vocal colors aren’t the typical korean/kpop way where they sound nasally or too soft. Imagine Mariah, Ariana, Rhianna and Moonbyul (cause I don’t know any rappers with the same style as her) in one group. Yep. That’s them.

It's also because their dancing is a little bit on the easier side to really highlight their vocals and make sure that they're not over stressing their bodies because their songs are already very difficult. They're not lacking in skill or anything, it's just sort of to balance it out. They're fully capable of doing difficult choreo too

Actuallly, Decalcomanie was performed in a survival show called “My teenage girls”, the song was sung by some of the members in a group called Classy
Because some girl groups participated in Queendom for several years and did not even reach the final, and Mamamoo won by their first and last time and easily .. there is no girl group that can compete with them.
They were the only group singing live too.. ontil the last song ^^

Seriously though. Mamamoo is one of the most skillful girl groups when it comes to vocals. And they are one of the best when it comes to performance. So asking others to reach their standard would be hard.

My Teenage Girl did a Décalcomanie cover, and they actually cut it to only the vocal parts! It was a stunning performance, and 3/4 who preformed it debuted in Class:y. Certainly hard to sing Mamamoo, but those who can are amazing.
If any trainee, manage to successfully cover mamamoo song, I will immediately be impressed and might stan them as the successor of Mamamoo. Their harmony, vocal, skills, and knowledge is just beauty

Mamamoo has a reputation to win every shows they were on (in Queendom, other girl groups picked them as winner from the start and ask why were they not the judges instead).
Also it’s very hard for other girls to cover a mamamoo song since all the belting, layering, rapping, harmonizing of their song are very hard to perform live.
It’s not that they can’t it’s just that it wouldn’t be a challenge and most groups get shook with the very idea of competing against mamamoo. We saw how MMM wasn’t even trying until in queendom and still placing high then when they actually tried they won lol immortal songs they won just about every time back when they were rookies and that’s a hard competition.
I’m still holding out hope that one day we will get a vocal unit on a show that will do Mamamoo. (I’d love Paint Me personally)

It's not that they can't... They just have a really good track record and win persistently in their past survival shows. They scare most idol groups (ie during queendom, there were many groups who picked mamamoo as the winner from the start or outright wished to never have to face them in a challenge). They are actually really competitive (particularly solar), and like shows but they often don't get invited to it bc of this.

Thier songs usually have a lot of high notes (no high pitch but high notes) specially the ones from early years where they have a oldies retro concept (50's to 80's type of songs), so vocal line members need a more training time or a good singing technic to don't end up screwin up the whole song.
