Emilie Autumn Liddell was born in Los Angeles, California, better known by her stage name Emilie Autumn, is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and violinist. Autumn draws influence for her music-the style of which she has alternatively labeled as "Victoriandustrial" and glam rock-from plays, novels, and history, particularly the Victorian era. Performing with her all-female backing band The Bloody Crumpets, Autumn incorporates elements of classical music, cabaret, electronica, and glam rock with theatrics, burlesque, and "flamboyant" outfits. Outspoken about bipolar disorder and her experience in a modern-day psychiatric ward, she has written an autobiographical novel, 2010's The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls.
Her music encompasses a wide range of styles. Autumn's vocal range registers from contralto to dramatic soprano, and her vocal work has been compared to Tori Amos, Kate Bush, and The Creatures. She has released two instrumental albums (On a Day... and Laced/Unlaced), and three which feature her vocals: Enchant, Opheliac, and A Bit o' This & That. The 2003 album Enchant drew on "new age chamber music, trip-hop baroque, and experimental space pop". Autumn layers her voice frequently, and incorporates electronics and electronic effects into her work on Enchant; she also combines strings and piano for some songs, while others feature mainly the piano or violin. The 2006 release Opheliac featured "cabaret, electronic, symphonic, new age, and good ol' rock & roll (and heavy on the theatrical bombast)."

Everyone's like "Oh, she's so out of breath, is she ok?" Have any of you ever tried to sing this song without missing a word all the way through? xD
as someone who used to study musical artistry i can absolutely say that yes, you might be able to sing a crazy song but try sing, move around, being in a lot of heat and little air-condition, prob smoke machines (which are soon drying for your vocal chords, fucking hate them) and character while at the same time belting it out there and remember the lyrics under mental stress from tour life... its a whole different story xD emilie is amazing and she has great technique to save the whole shebang hahah love this lady
I can do everything but the refrain at the end. But while dancing? In a corset? Nah. She's doing really well.
Lots of artists write more lyrics than they can realistically handle and dub it over in the studio, after which they get into trouble in the live performance because they cannot physically sing it like that.
Emilie doesnt give a f*ck if she loses her breath, she's there to entertain her little rats and we love her for it!

Been a fan of her since about 2004... Twenty years and yet she somehow ever got the break she deserved.... What an absolute blast it would have been to see her live.

sad as it may be I feel this is down to her management and Emilie is not to blame, also she's done so many shows I'm surprised she hasn't collapsed from exhaustion bless her heart and soul, It's very difficult for any musicians at all these days and it's inspirational that she's still able to keep going , it's all work so that she will be able to put on the giant eccentric show we all know she deserves, It may suck but the end project will probably be worth it for all of us :)
Well her overall goal is to make it to Broadway. She is incredibly talented and she's certainly got the moxy to do a show like that. The catch is that it takes money to do a show like she's wanting to do. If it means asking her dedicated fans to help her with her dream, then that's what it's going to take.

I don't know any Emilie fan who pay for listening her music or buy her things, not because they don't what to, but to Brazil (where I live) the price became a lot more expensive. Yes, but she has plenty of fans. She can make money without charging so much. I understand the super expensive VIP tickets, but she also fairly recently released fight like a girl, which went on to be sold at Hot topic. Hot Topic. No doubt, that boosted sales quite a bit for her. Keep in mind, I am an EA fan. I'm also just poor, which makes being a fan hard if I want to actually participate in fandom-related things. I would love to help support EA, I just don't want to break the bank.

It kind of makes me sad.. I saw EA in boston last february and though i thoroughly enjoyed the show, i felt like it was no more than an advertisement for fight like a girl. I get that it was the fight like a girl show, but i still feel like she's focusing more on the money now than anything. I mean, come on, $100 to join her fan club? It's not even about the music anymore it seems.

I understand that she needs the money, (excuse me, not needs, but wants) but there are a lot of artists who are a lot less popular and do a lot more for their fans who dont require a fee. I get that she has to pay fees and whatnot for venues, she needs money for costumes and sets, all that stuff. I just think she goes overboard with making her fans pay a ton just to enjoy something beyond not paying anything to enjoy her music online.
From my understanding of what EA does is that she also produces her music via her own record label. In live performences from my understanding a lot of artiest make their money and keep it, I can't be sure that EA makes that much at the end of the day.
If she is her own label she doesn't have anyone backing her up and money is just that much more tighter than the multibillion dollar labels.
