I’ve been in Tampa since 2017 and still never saw an alligator. I moved for the weather. I hate the winter with a passion. I would take a HOT summer heat every day over ONE frigid day of winter. I love the fact that by the time March rolls around it’s consistently warm. In Ohio it doesn’t warm up until late May or June.

@@roostercogburn7243 I remember watching a documentary on the coldest human habitation on planet earth - Oymyakon in the Yakutia/Sakha region in of Russia's Far east by the Arctic Ocean. The temperature in the winter in Oymyakon can dip to below 50 [-58 F] in January. The residents of the village when asked about the frigid cold in winter said that they are the luckiest people on the planet and would never want to live elsewhere!
So yes, its possible that Europeans like you may love to get their a$$ frozen by the winter. Though, going by the number of Canadians who flock to Florida in winter, I don't think the Canadians share your passion to get their a$$ frozen by the frigid cold. Well, each to their own. Good luck getting your a$$ frozen solid in the European winter

Homeowner insurance is VERY expensive, and can double in a year. Insurance companies force you to replace your roof every 15 years or so regardless of condition.

Just got back from SW Florida after not being able to visit since 2019. Oh wow, when they say EVERYONE is moving there...its true. One of the most stressful vacations I have taken as the traffic was 3x worse then what I experienced a few years ago. Many locals were frustrated too with how many people are there now. It was just TOO much. Very beautiful, but way way too many people. How the heck would they even be able to flee from a hurricane if the population keeps growing like it is.

We used to be beach baby, chill, bonfire in the woods, driving on the beach. There are too many people here crowding us. No sunset views because of high rises and condos. There is no more "southern hospitality" because there are no more natives, they've moved away. This is home, WAS...I can't wait to leave now. When my mom goes, I'm vacating. The other 5% is hurricanes.

I lived here my whole life. I'm 26 now and looking to move.
I'm getting married and want to start a family but the wages and cost of living is just too high now.
For the last 4 years my rent has gone up 10-15% houses that were 250,000 just 5 years ago are now 500,000 homeowners insurance has tripled.
I have eight years of professional experience and a degree and can't get a job offer for more than $20hr.
I recently went on an interview for an accounting manager in a company that does 20 million in sales a year. with a straight face they offered me $14 an hour.
I had another interview where they offered me $20 as a director. when I told them that's lower than I was previously making and it's a 45 minute commute the exact words from HR were "That's okay, This is great pay. I just moved here from New York and you need to realize Florida doesn't pay that much you should really consider this opportunity."
I lost my job a month ago due to budget cuts. I have applied to over 300 businesses I cannot find decent work.
What future do I have when a job paying $22hr gets 400 applicants in 1 day?

    1. Rain; it usually starts out of nowhere, pretty unpredictable. Also, it rains almost everyday during Summer 😭
    2. Reptiles EVERYWHERE. I don’t know if it’s the section I live in, but Florida is FULL of iguanas and snakes! (I literally see 2 iguanas outside right now

Thanks for watching and commenting. Miami does have terirble and aggressive /defensive drivers. I don't see iguanas/snakes as often as you do, but you're right, we have our own variety od wildlife. The rain wasn't as bad this past summer, and the humidity wasn't as bad either, but it does rain ALOT in the summer :)

In Miami people honk as soon as the light turns green. No waiting. Plus, it’s an absolute free for all. I’ve seen luxury sports cars drive on the freeway shoulder in order to bypass traffic, and nobody uses turn signals. Even the pedestrians never bother to use crosswalks, they just cross busy roads like US1 at will. :)

Omg I thought this video was going to be BS, everything in this video is SPOT ON. Everything in this video has happened to us! We moved to FL two years ago from CA/NY. I had already purchased a Miami condo 4 years before and was hoping to buy a house but that plan quickly changed and I haven’t had luck in this market. I’ve had trouble finding contractors to do any work. The drivers are horrible! I was also hit by a student driver, my husband was even hit by a car and required major surgery. The traffic is terrible here. I’m coming down with terrible allergies living here, my symptoms are horrible. I’ve been stung by a jellyfish. It’s like you’re speaking to me about my last two years here, but I still do love Florida!!! 😆

One of my biggest fears is insects, and specifically roaches. It’s like a phobia. Debilitating fear. I cannot stand them. As a New Yorker they mean your house is dirty, but I guess in Florida they’re a given. The sight of even a picture of one makes my head tingle in a bad way and gives me major anxiety. Can pest control do anything to make sure none get into a house I’d potentially get? Or will I have to deal with them no matter what? If not, then I’m gonna have to pass reluctantly on Florida.

I am retired now and am still here and wish to move back to NH, I was having a hard time finding anything because of covid because I retired in March 2020. I think that the worst of living in FL is the weather. People think that it is sunny all the time and it isn't. We have winter here, too. Gators hang out in my backyard. I live in a crowded golf-course area. Potage sized yards. It is weird you never see them but I see them most days. They get real grumpy around mating season too. They even hung out inside my neighbors garage trying to eat her small dog. Scaring an 80 year old women half to death. The small dog wanted to chase it. One blocked my side of the road. They are loud when looking for love and weird looking when they walk tall on their legs instead of just low. They eat small dogs and cats. Retrievers will jump in the water, one got bit but managed to get free. That dog did live.

Also yes, life here is a lot slower. I notice it when I travel to other places, such as NYC. If you move here, you need to adapt. If you want a pubsub it will take 20+ minutes and be NICE to the workers. It’s just slower here, and that’s the way I like it :)

You can find workers and trades workers here in Florida. You just have to understand that quality comes at a cost. Builders pay the trades pennies. That's why I own my own finish carpentry business in the Hillsborough country area. And surrounding areas. You can't want $1000 work for $400. Builders charge $7000 for crown molding and pay the installer $300. I know this because 83.5% of my clients refuse to pay $7k when I give them quality for half the price. I build custom wood products, too. I have zero issue finding clients by word of mouth.
