I moved to Florida from cold Maine. Found out I have osteoarthritis. Need the warmth of Florida. đ love it !!
Thanks for watching and for commenting!
I love the warmth of Florida as I sit inside with the Air Conditioner running all year...đ
None of these negatives deter me from moving there; Iâve lived in many different parts of the world and the surviving factor to living under various conditions is called âadaptationâ Iâm 72 and continuously adaptingâŠ..routine life is too boring for me!
You must be a Fascist if you want to live there.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
LOL thats the point of these lists, to not mention anything truly bad that would deter you from calling the real estate angent.
Iâve been in Tampa since 2017 and still never saw an alligator. I moved for the weather. I hate the winter with a passion. I would take a HOT summer heat every day over ONE frigid day of winter. I love the fact that by the time March rolls around itâs consistently warm. In Ohio it doesnât warm up until late May or June.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
'In Ohio it doesnât warm up until late May or June.' And starts getting cold by mid September
@@samanthamccormick1505 I would love it there. Europeans love the cold by nature. âđ»
U r right... NY is the same...
@@roostercogburn7243 I remember watching a documentary on the coldest human habitation on planet earth - Oymyakon in the Yakutia/Sakha region in of Russia's Far east by the Arctic Ocean. The temperature in the winter in Oymyakon can dip to below 50 [-58 F] in January. The residents of the village when asked about the frigid cold in winter said that they are the luckiest people on the planet and would never want to live elsewhere!
So yes, its possible that Europeans like you may love to get their a$$ frozen by the winter. Though, going by the number of Canadians who flock to Florida in winter, I don't think the Canadians share your passion to get their a$$ frozen by the frigid cold. Well, each to their own. Good luck getting your a$$ frozen solid in the European winter
Iâve lived in Florida for 30 years and Iâve lived in Miami, Orlando and currently in Jacksonville and Iâve never had any complaints. I love Florida and want to live here all my life.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Same here! Lived all over the US but been in FL 11 years ...love it!
Florida has a shortage of contractors & tradesman because their pay is horrible! We are trying to move to Florida and my husband is a senior superintendent for a commercial roofing company and the jobs down there do not pay anywhere near what he makes here in Ohio. You get what you pay for. Crap pay equals crap workers.
Red States don't pay worker well
Most make their money then move to Florida...Florida is not a place to make money....nobody was born here...nobody I know....
Same with healthcare jobs. Florida jobs underpay.
Florida is a vacation/retirement place...
You get paid in sunshine đđđ
The dude with the learner's permit that rear ended you was surely distracted ON HIS PHONE.
Yes he was!đ Exactly my point! Thank you for watching and commenting!
The beach and my air conditioned hotel is all I need. âïž
Cold winters in DC / NY is starting to become unforgiving. I paid my dues, I donât deserve this, lol.đ„¶
Florida is not the only option...
Climate change? Oops I forgot it didn't exist!
Iâm ready also MN is getting disrespectful with the below zero weathers
Very informative I am grateful to have someone who knows the ins and outs so we stay very well informed about everything possible before moving any place. You are the greatest Iâve heard yet! Keep it up and I thank youđ

Homeowner insurance is VERY expensive, and can double in a year. Insurance companies force you to replace your roof every 15 years or so regardless of condition.
Auto policies are VERY expensive even compared to the northeast. I had three cars in PA that had the same premium as one in FL. Many uninsured.
Truth telling!!! It depends on the type of roof, but yes, home insurance is very high and strict right now. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Ron the governor is corrupted and in cahoot with the insurance companies.đ°đ°đ°đ°đ°đ°it is such a crime. He needs to go to jail.
Thanks for this, I was thinking of moving there but I negatively checked off too many items on this list that I don't like or won't be able to handle. Thanks for saving me from making a bad decision!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good on you! I moved here before all this information was available. Been here 11 years and itâs never felt like home
Just got back from SW Florida after not being able to visit since 2019. Oh wow, when they say EVERYONE is moving there...its true. One of the most stressful vacations I have taken as the traffic was 3x worse then what I experienced a few years ago. Many locals were frustrated too with how many people are there now. It was just TOO much. Very beautiful, but way way too many people. How the heck would they even be able to flee from a hurricane if the population keeps growing like it is.
Love your take on it. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
You travel north...đ
I've lived here my entire life. North, central and both coasts. I'm 61 and 95% of the "negatives" are from the invasion of transplants from the north. We used to be beach baby, chill, bonfire in the woods, driving on the beach. There are too many people here crowding us. No sunset views because of high rises and condos. There is no more "southern hospitality" because there are no more natives, they've moved away. This is home, WAS...I can't wait to leave now. When my mom goes, I'm vacating. The other 5% is hurricanes.
Stop complaining! And the people is good for the revenue of the state!
Alot have already left tho too. Thank goodness
I lived in Florida in the mid 80âs. The humidity, incessant biting insects and transient population drove me away. Hurricanes were also an issue. Only thing I missed was the great Miami Herald.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thanks a lot for your honest way of preventing issues before traveling to Florida.
Honestly if I came across this video before I moved , I would have moved elsewhereâŠ. So glad I didnât because we love it hereâŠwe did decide on home not on a canal to cut down on seeing critters etcâŠand we have pest control and we are very happy.
Good for you! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Just bought here in Jacksonville Florida. Love my new condo. Canât wait to finally get into it next week sometime.
Congrats!! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
If you want to live in a sauna bath, south FL is for you. I was born and raised in the Houston TX area, which is hot and humid during the summer, but Miami is much worse. I went there once on business and was shocked; I did not know that such a place existed anywhere in the continental US.
Thanks for watching and commenting. It sounds like a terrible one time experience!
What do you mean, that you didnât know such a place existed, đ€ is that a good or bad thing.. just curious .. thanks for your feedback.. Tony from Indiana đ

Itâs called a sub tropical climate -
People, attitudes, and entitlement are literally a negative EVERYWHERE. đ There will also always be a clash of personalities, no matter where you are. As someone who is from the northeast, laid back/chill attitudes are refreshing.
So true! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Geez......would you like to hear the 1000 reasons not to move to NY?
Crime and the economy?
I lived most of my adult life in NYC. left 10 years ago. Wouldn't go back. Quality of life has really deteriorated.
Only need one âđŒ itâs New York đ€ - Never been and never desire to go. đ
New York my home state. Florida has become very expensive Rents donât have reasonable increases. Minimum is $100. I had a neighbor who had to move due to a $300 increase. Itâs just ridiculous. Yes, my biggest allergies are mold and dust n in Broward have had a lot of allergy days needing medication n contact lenses to keep a barrier. When I was in Miami it wasnât as bad yrs ago. So thatâs been a surprise.
Seriously , ive been living in ny for 29 yrs and honestly im over it. Im 31 yrs old and ready for a nee place with beautiful scenes and great weather. Florida it is !!!
I live in The Villages, and we see alligators all the time. They are almost never a problem here, as they tent to keep to themselves.
Thanks for watching and for commenting!
They should divide these videos into different FL areas, because N FL, and NW FL are completely different from S FL and Central FL. Miami and FT Lauderdale very fast paced. Then you have the inland towns, which are totally a different world. The northern part of the state is more like GA and AL.
You're right! Florida is a huge state and very different depending on the region you are in. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So true. Fort Lauderdale and Miami are indeed fast paced. Tampa, St Petersburg, Naples, Fort Myers etc can feel like sleepy towns. Even Tampa gets awfully quiet and desolate at night. Especially when compared to Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Gainsville, Tallahassee are all very quiet and slow paced cities.
@@samanthamccormick1505 Yes, it is all relative to the kind of lifestyle your looking for!
TRUE. I am moving to Gainesville outside of Gainesville! Farm and rural for me. NO urban areas for me!! The houses are affordable and falling in price. The counties I am looking at have the lowest poroperty taxes of FL, prices for food and insurance all reasonable and comparable to East Mountains of N.M. (East of Albuquerque) where I am at now.
â@@samanthamccormick1505 what about Port St Lucie. My cousin is trying to get me to leave Cali lolđ
Highly informative, thank you!
2015 Purchased a high rise condo on the beach We expected to spend the rest of our lives in Hollywood âŠ.2021 sold⊠hated the traffic, crime, red tide, entitled âreligiousâ folks, homeless, HOA fees $3,000/per month, always rising âŠ.Taxes, health care atrocious ,Insurance, need I share moreâŠ.? Happy we returned home lucky we didnât sell our established homestead âŠ.đđŒ
Very happy for you! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Shouldn't have moved into one of the crowded FL cities. Plenty of spots not that way in FL.
Could never live there. I find myself saying that anytime I go to visit. The lack of seasons would be depressing. Humidity is ridiculous. A soup bowl unless you are literally on the beach. Walk one block off the beach and it is disgustingly hot.
Winter can be a surprising challenge. When the temperature is below 70 you will feel cold. 50 degrees here feels like 30 up north.
Good to know, I am thinking to move to West Palm. Great insights
Thanks for watching and commenting. Let me know if I can help you with the move!
We've had lots of people move to Arizona and we face the same issues. They leave the state for a reason but bring their home state with them.
OK Thanks. You convinced me by 2:56. Iâll stay where I am. Enjoy!

Living in Miami especially when you live close to a lake I remember seeing iguanas most of the time and our bipolar weather one minute itâs sunny and then a few minutes later it rains out of no where
Great insight so on point
Thank you!
I'm giving your info to my 22 yr old son who wants to move to FL from Michigan after he graduates from college in December 2023.
I hoping to move down there. Right now I'm studying the area that best fits my budget and lifestyle. I was born in NJ all my life.
Florida is not the same anymore. The entire country is moving down here. The traffic is terrible.....aff!
Yes, there is a huge influx! Thanks for your comments!
If you move to Florida with money, youâre OK. You can live in your walled community safe from the outside world. If you move to Florida and need to work for a living, good luck balancing the 3 jobs you need!Unless youâre one of those skilled tradesmen from the Northeast, that does good work and is on time. Florida is one big plantation!
Great honest information, thank you
Thanks for watching and for commenting!
I guess parts of it is the hot and humid weather which affects people attitudes.
Thanks. Really informative

Think i will make up my mind appreciate ur opinion thank U.
I lived here my whole life. I'm 26 now and looking to move.
I'm getting married and want to start a family but the wages and cost of living is just too high now.
For the last 4 years my rent has gone up 10-15% houses that were 250,000 just 5 years ago are now 500,000 homeowners insurance has tripled.
I have eight years of professional experience and a degree and can't get a job offer for more than $20hr.
I recently went on an interview for an accounting manager in a company that does 20 million in sales a year. with a straight face they offered me $14 an hour.
I had another interview where they offered me $20 as a director. when I told them that's lower than I was previously making and it's a 45 minute commute the exact words from HR were "That's okay, This is great pay. I just moved here from New York and you need to realize Florida doesn't pay that much you should really consider this opportunity."
I lost my job a month ago due to budget cuts. I have applied to over 300 businesses I cannot find decent work.
What future do I have when a job paying $22hr gets 400 applicants in 1 day?
Move up north it pays so much better. You're young so get out while you can
I live in Southern Arizona (Sonoran Desert). All the negatives you are mentioning sound like where I live, minus the alligators, iguanas and hurricanes. Iâm looking at moving to Jacksonville next year. I canât wait to become a Floridian. â€
People rarely pick up poop after their dogs. Just out of control in my area of SOFLO.
I do but no allergyâs here ⊠I breathe better here than anywhere âŠno red tide here in lee county now⊠it comes and goes
I have allergies, have not that much income, hate warm humid weather and donât like overpopulated places so thank you
Florida is not for you.
As a Floridian, the biggest problems for me are:
1. Rain; it usually starts out of nowhere, pretty unpredictable. Also, it rains almost everyday during Summer đ
2. Reptiles EVERYWHERE. I donât know if itâs the section I live in, but Florida is FULL of iguanas and snakes! (I literally see 2 iguanas outside right now⊠đ)
3. The people who drive here are crazy. Again, I donât know if itâs because I live in Miami, but people are so impatient and you canât go a day without hearing a car horn.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Miami does have terirble and aggressive /defensive drivers. I don't see iguanas/snakes as often as you do, but you're right, we have our own variety od wildlife. The rain wasn't as bad this past summer, and the humidity wasn't as bad either, but it does rain ALOT in the summer :)
Thsts humans everywhere driving like mad.
In Miami people honk as soon as the light turns green. No waiting. Plus, itâs an absolute free for all. Iâve seen luxury sports cars drive on the freeway shoulder in order to bypass traffic, and nobody uses turn signals. Even the pedestrians never bother to use crosswalks, they just cross busy roads like US1 at will. :)
@@Bicyclechris scary how extremely true this comment is.

Omg I thought this video was going to be BS, everything in this video is SPOT ON. Everything in this video has happened to us! We moved to FL two years ago from CA/NY. I had already purchased a Miami condo 4 years before and was hoping to buy a house but that plan quickly changed and I havenât had luck in this market. Iâve had trouble finding contractors to do any work. The drivers are horrible! I was also hit by a student driver, my husband was even hit by a car and required major surgery. The traffic is terrible here. Iâm coming down with terrible allergies living here, my symptoms are horrible. Iâve been stung by a jellyfish. Itâs like youâre speaking to me about my last two years here, but I still do love Florida!!! đ
Wow! Thatâs a lot! I sorry to hear that but Iâm glad you can see passed it all. Good luck to you. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Check out North Georgia, well worth a look for so many reasons. Forsyth County, Cherokee, Dawson and the Alpharetta part of Fulton County. Humidity is way less and 4 beautiful seasons.

Some of those arenât too bad. Iâm not an outgoing social person. Mostly stay home when Iâm off work. If I lived in Miami I wouldnât be phased by the nightlife. Not a party person. I built houses for 13 years, 10 of that was running a framing crew. In 2010 I got into maintenance and facility management. I have been considering moving to Florida to start a small company doing maintenance and small construction projects. Is this something that you think would be useful and in what area would you recommend?
I am a CPA. I have a 30 yo clients, 2nd year in maintenance small construction, netting 1 million this year and he subs out all the work.
A nice video with a beautiful woman host. Iâve been thinking about moving to FL for years. Iâve been there a few times. I live in MD but am considering NC too. I want to move to a safe, clean, mostly warm all year, conservative state on the southeast coast with lots of jobs. Each state has its pros and cons. đđ»
It doesn't lend to many different driving styles. It converges into ONE maniacal driving style that is practiced by about 1/3 of the population of drivers.

I would check out home insurance availability and premium cost before buying. Big insurance companies are leaving every month.

One of my biggest fears is insects, and specifically roaches. Itâs like a phobia. Debilitating fear. I cannot stand them. As a New Yorker they mean your house is dirty, but I guess in Florida theyâre a given. The sight of even a picture of one makes my head tingle in a bad way and gives me major anxiety. Can pest control do anything to make sure none get into a house Iâd potentially get? Or will I have to deal with them no matter what? If not, then Iâm gonna have to pass reluctantly on Florida.
Lol, in many homes, you will (maybe) never see insects/roaches. I would be lying to say we don't have them or you will never see them because we live in a subtropical climate. A newer constructed home, impact glass, constant maintenance and pest control will ensure little to no bugs in your home. Thank you for your comment and for watching!

I live in Jacksonville, FL for 7 years. I moved with my job in 2015. I am retired now and am still here and wish to move back to NH, I was having a hard time finding anything because of covid because I retired in March 2020. I think that the worst of living in FL is the weather. People think that it is sunny all the time and it isn't. We have winter here, too. Just because it doesn't snow doesn't mean that it doesn't get real cold because it does. You do have to use heat in the winter. I can get very, very cold.
In Jacksonville, it does get very cold, but not in the southern areas. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

â@@liveinfloridavlog does it get cold in Port St. Lucie? I'm coming from SoCal. It only rains here off and on for like 2 months and that's our winter đ
Thx for the info. Weâre considering a beach front property around Satellite beach. Is there any chance I find iguanas or alligators in front of those homes?
Iguanas, yes but not as many as further south. Alligators donât normally live in the ocean, youâll find them mostly in lakes, but you never know! Thanks for watching, and commenting!
Gators hang out in my backyard. I live in a crowded golf-course area. Potage sized yards. It is weird you never see them but I see them most days. They get real grumpy around mating season too. They even hung out inside my neighbors garage trying to eat her small dog. Scaring an 80 year old women half to death. The small dog wanted to chase it. One blocked my side of the road. They are loud when looking for love and weird looking when they walk tall on their legs instead of just low. They eat small dogs and cats. Retrievers will jump in the water, one got bit but managed to get free. That dog did live.
Wow, thank you for your comments! Just because I never see them, doesn't mean it is the same everywhere! I do not live on a lake and I do live further east, that might make a difference. Be careful out there and I appreciate your local knowledge and insight!
Number oneâŠ. Flood insurance / home owners insurance crisis !!!!! Of course a real estate agent would never tell you this âŠ.
Well texas has heat and humid
We have all seasons in one weeks I kid you not also the ozone in the summer is ridiculous it makes you itchy and irritated in the eyes skin in general I mean there is bad in all states weather it is cold hot air quality etc
Awesome video
Red tide definitely happens more on The west coast. They prefer the warmer water ! As a local I am more used to it, but if you are sensitive, please do NOT move here. You will be miserable because it will happen year after year.
Also yes, life here is a lot slower. I notice it when I travel to other places, such as NYC. If you move here, you need to adapt. If you want a pubsub it will take 20+ minutes and be NICE to the workers. Itâs just slower here, and thatâs the way I like it :)

You can find workers and trades workers here in Florida. You just have to understand that quality comes at a cost. Builders pay the trades pennies. That's why I own my own finish carpentry business in the Hillsborough country area. And surrounding areas. You can't want $1000 work for $400. Builders charge $7000 for crown molding and pay the installer $300. I know this because 83.5% of my clients refuse to pay $7k when I give them quality for half the price. I build custom wood products, too. I have zero issue finding clients by word of mouth.
