    The point helper option is taken from blender empty. also the extrude option is somewhat taken from extrude manifold and push pull option of sketchup and i like this idea of inheriting the thing from one software by another.

    • @martincoven
      @martincoven Před 3 lety +5

      It’s just making a process that was possible before easier. Before you could instance a transform of any object to a gizmo transform.

    • @MelbourneArchviz
      @MelbourneArchviz Před 3 lety +4

      push pull in sketchup creates double faces which caused me immeasurable pain for the last 10 years as I get these nightmarish fucked up sketchup models from my clients and have to work my ass off cleaning them which many times they are uncleanable in 3dsmax. at least the max option is clean.

    • @chadvoller
      @chadvoller Před 3 lety

      You could do it previously with wiring, which is a bit tedious for multiple objects. Now it’s a simple pick of an object. How many ideas has Blender “taken” from other software? All software takes ideas from others. And you’re right, it’s a good thing. Competition drives innovation and improvement of similar features.

    a question... I always used Proboolean, don't know exactly why, I thought because was better than regular boolean? When became boolean better? When use one or another?

    • @andvfx
      @andvfx  Před 2 lety +1

      Before max 2018 Boolean was really bad, and proboolean was better overall. But after 2018 "Boolean" was totally rewrited, making it much better. There are maybe some functions that proboolean can do and the new booleans not... but overall, I never use proboolean anymore. This new boolean, is faster, works better, and have very interesting options as you can see.

  • @Owin0
    @Owin0 Před 3 lety +2

    Love the new features, but probably I still won't do much modelling in 3ds. Whole software still feels obsolete and clanky. Imprecise geometry selecting, random camera sensitive while navigating in scene; a lot of clicking on tool icons instead of using intuitive, default shortcuts... Necessity of clicking on gizmo everytime when I want to move/rotate/scale something, while in blender I can press G to move object and then definie axis by clicking x/y/z. Much faster solution.
    I really like 3ds max, it has tons of features, modifiers and plugins, but it feels like software from 2005.

    • @joelaguilarfuentes8758
      @joelaguilarfuentes8758 Před 3 lety

      I agree with you but I can also notice that there is a lot you don't know about Max. Do you use the Selection Toggle, for example?

    • @joelaguilarfuentes8758
      @joelaguilarfuentes8758 Před 3 lety

      If you press Spacebar (I think they changed the hotkey) you lock the selection so now you can drag anywhere in viewport without clicking the gizmo and transform your locked selection in the constraint axis, that you can change with F5-F8 (x, y, z, XY/YZ/XY planes) and you can also assign custom hotkeys. Not as fancy or intuitive as Blender but pretty useful.
