It's amazing how many people are commenting that this was their childhood as well. I miss when games were this simple, yet still stand out as some of the best experiences of our lives.
the nostalgia is strong, but looking back this game is actually super solid. Where else can you build your own car and then race it? When I look back at some other games from my childhood i can tell they weren't nearly this good
Bro the other day i was thinking about this game from my childhood. It came to mind that i have never been a mario kart guy and this was my alternative.
Crash team racing is way better with its powersliding system. This one doesn't have anything else than "go for green brick and use tunnel" there is nothing but a boring straight forward driving.

Even so, I technically think she should've been the final boss tbh instead of Rocket Racer since he was always so piss easy to defeat, especially since there's so many white and green bricks littered throughout Rocket Racer Run, meaning you always get plenty of chances to use the Doctor Who feature (I.e. time vortex), and plus there's obviously the hidden vortex behind the door.

I don't think it's possible to beat him by just conventional racing. You have to collect the green go-fast powerups, and have them maxed by collecting the white bricks which allows you to warp ahead. Keep doing that and it's easy.

This game was my childhood man, imo the older lego sets were better than the ones we have today maybe it's just nostalgia but they did seem a lot more original and awesome. Damn I miss the 90's, the days where I could just play with my lego's all day and not have a care in the world
me too, I was stuck on the first level a lot and then one day I beat that level and when on beating all the levels and for the most part, beating the game.
I remember as a kid I had a personal goal of making sure the governor Lego guy would always come in second place in the standings with me in first place.Which meant sabotaging the race for whoever the frontrunner was... Goodtimes. goodtimes
When I go back and play this game I always try and make it so Governor or one of the other non-hosting drivers wins the championship, since beating the game myself is so easy now

I recently heard an essay about movies, that if you feel that something happens outside of that you see in the movie, then it has great world building. I don't know how, but Lego Racers has always given me that feeling, even now 20 years later.

This game! It was the only racing video game I played before discovering Mario Kart. Every music composition, every sound, every voice... This brings many memories from many years ago. I remember the times when I used to be first place in a race and not. It has possibly been 13 years.
I played a lot of kart racing games as a kid, but this really was something different. It was so fast paced didn't make you feel frustrated and it was just such a fun time.

Installed this and Lego Racers 2 along with Polaris Snocross on my PC. Now on the new Windows it won't let me run these games anymore. Finally time to put the nostalgia away, but these games by far provided so much more fun than any game nowadays. Thanks for the upload

Hands down, Pirate Skull Pass and Ice Planet Pathway are the HARDEST time trials. I noticed you cut it so close at 1:33:55 that Veronica actually disappeared at the end of the race, but you still won.
I for one appreciated that you used the warp sparingly. Not only would abusing it make the gameplay incredibly boring, but it feels a lot closer to how I played as a kid. Twelve years on CZcams and this video is still drawing people in!
This game will be lost to time, sadly. This game was SO good, especially for its day. As a kid, each level offered such a unique adventure, with the different classic lego themes, with different secrets to explore, different random gems to find. The car creator tool was incredible.. I spent hours and hours on this. Graphics were great for the time too.
