Lol, just found this video and I laughed so hard.
Not because of You, but because of me.
I bought a smaller battery for the rig but it has another plug.. So not a big deal I dig in to my stuff and found a nice matching plug with longer wires. Black to black red to red and everithyng works fine.
The other day I relocate my esc and battery tray and the wires were too short. Dig again found a matching plug, soldered and plugged in than YEEEKS. Smoke and glowing wires, quickly grab it to unplug, it burns and melted in my fingers...
I just blinked a few times and couldn't understand the situation. Soooo make another one with another plug and guess what, repeat the same stupid thing again. I think that's where I start to realize my fault. The first plug swap I made is from something else and correct but all the other plugs I have are reversed. Lucky thing is both my esc and battery are fine but it's just pure luck and maybe because just 2s. Yepp, always check polarity every side. Cheers and sorry for the long run!

So I’ve had my jeep wrangler Rubicon now for all eight months maybe. Yeah and when I had a brand new I took it into a creek up on the mountains where is a good place to go crawling gotten into water over its roof and Shorted out ESC.I was used to the red cat GEN seven which comes waterproof out of the box. So the first thing I had to do was buy a new ESC, then when I got it I waterproofed it thanks to Shen RC showing out a waterproof the electronics. I actually found a product you can spray right into the ESC called wire dryer. You can pick it up at a auto zone etc. I appreciate your admitting to your mistake. I’m very careful about what batteries I buy other than the stock ones from Axel.

Wow that's nuts . I'm not an expert by any means but here's a little info from researching my FY01. The vehicle was bought on banggood and comes stock with a Lilo battery. They sell an optional 2s Lipo battery that says it's a direct fit. I asked some questions on BG's question page for the Lipo battery and everyone says it's good to go on the FY01, whether or not it's accurate is another question.
From what I've researched all the brushed FY vehicles come stock with the Lilo and the brushless come with a 2s Lipo. The brushed motors have the Esc/Receiver combo and the brushless come with separate components.
Just wanted to share a little feedback on the Feiyue brand , wish I could confirm something more , especially with the Axial. Very informational video, I'm sure you saved many more some heartbreak on their SCX2s.

Brian, the Li-Ion Battery you used MIGHT have developed an internal short.... It happens in rare cases.
Now obviously when you TORCHED the ESC, you likely melted Solder on the PCB - causing Battery power to flow straight through the ESC - without any input - straight to the Motor. 😖
That whole thing seems like it was beyond your control.
When I get mine.... I'm probably bypassing all that integrated stuff, and fitting a standard Micro Reciever and Micro ESC, likely from one of my RC Aircraft. 😉

The voltage between lipo and li ion are really similar it should never hurt anything using one or the other.
Alot of electronic speed controller manufactures usually run the battery and motor circuits side by side and when you did your reverse polatity trick it fried and crossed those circuits. You might be able to see where it is and repair it if you wanted too. I have been lucky with that a few times. Other times it fries resisters and transistors and they need replaced.

The + - are reversed, so if you did plug it in you get instant lipo puff/ ignition.

your problem is your Positive & Negative were Reversed on your lilo battery which destroyed your ESC

    • @AMAZINGRC
      @AMAZINGRC  Před 2 lety

👍👍👍 that is exactly what happened.!! I had been soooo used to the standard wiring for 20+ years in RC. I never thought that I had to check. Especially due to the fact that this was not my first Axial. But I now check ALL battery wiring for EVERY car I receive.
But very good answer.! Most comments believe that I over volted the ESC with a 4S battery, or something in that nature. 😃

Super reversed.! In 20+ years I have never seen the polarity reversed from the factory. I am not sure about the SCX10III, mine is a kit. But the polarity to the stock SCX24 was backwards., and when I upgraded to a 2000mAh 2S lipo it hit the fan, and the car hit the wall.! lol.!
But you got it 100% correct.! Polarity definitely backwards. Many thanks for the great comment my friend.!

Same thing just happened to me... Everything turned off (remote & truck) I plugged in my 2s battery (not 3s) and the truck started to drive full throttle with smoke coming out of the ESC... The first thing I checked was the polarity of my battery (since I just soldered longer cables). Everything was correct except... I inverted the connector... so the polarity was reversed when I plugged it in. I've opened the ESC and there's 2 burnt chips (S3202 L020AE). And now, with the battery's connector correctly re-soldered, when I plug it in, although everything is turned off, it starts driving full throttle... If you still have that battery, I'd like to know if maybe the same thing happened to you, if the connector is reversed? Thanks!
