    I just bought some of the more complicated patterned stencils but after this I realize; of COURSE I can make my own simple ones! I used to cut rubber stamps all the time and the technique is very similar, cutting a stencil would be easier than that so I'm looking forward to making some unique stencils for the kids :-) Thanks for opening my eyes!

    Hi Sophie I love all your videos as they are very informative and interesting. I wanted to ask what you use to attach to your stencils to get them to hang in your kit? I plan on getting a craft n go paint station and would like to hang the stencils across the top so that I can see them more easily and not have to sort them before I use them. Of course the inside of the craft n go is magnetic. Would you recommend attaching small magnets to each stencil? Thank you in advance for your time to answer this question.

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 8 lety

      I will post a video of my face painting kit in a couple of months and you will see how I do it. It's kind of hard to describe it here but basically I use some hook & look velcro tape. The soft side goes on one little corner of the stencil and the scratchy side is taped to the side of my table. I align the stencils I use throughout my event next to one another. The others stay in a pocket nearby. This works really great for me. I haven't tried it with magnets but I would assume that they might be hard to attach to the stencil - and would possibly fall off when you wash them...

    Hi Sophie, i wonder if i can use projector transparency sheets to make stencil because i got lots of it n I'd love to create own stencils..

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 7 lety +1

      No, I think that they would be too thin and it would therefore be difficult to cut the design through them without ripping them apart. It would be also hard to then place them on the face flat enough and prevent the paint to get underneath and ruin the whole thing. But if you already have the plastic sheet at home, go ahead and try with one simple simple design. You might be able to make it work. Good luck!

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 8 lety

      +Federica Gardini I will explain this in detail in my next video but here are a few hints for you 😉 Yes, they are laminated pictures. The plastic is very smooth, yes, but it works OK. Not great, but a decent and cheap alternative when no willing kids are around. Nothing replaces real skin though. Another little tip for you: look for "Natalie Portman bold" on Google images and you will find lots of good suitable images to print and practice on. She is so pretty and has a very regular face. Good luck for this weekend!

    I have high density sponge. It works well except on the rainbow split cake. What is the other kind? What brand /type of sponge do you use for rainbow split cakes? Having trouble with high density sponges using rainbow split cakes and stencils

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 6 lety

      That's funny because I find the high density sponges easier to use with the split cakes and the stencils. If you're having trouble, try the antibacterial ones but make sure you don't use too much water because they tend to get wetter faster. Everyone has their own preference. Most of the time it's a question of trial and error...

      Yo compré mis pinturas directamente en EU vía Internet y me salieron más económicas en dólares y gastos de envío que si las hubiera comprado directamente en Amazon, que salen al doble del precio.
      Mi ejemplo con la marca CC beauty de 36 colores con precio de casi 30 + 8 de envío, en dólares fueron $1000 pesos aprox. Contra 2300 aprox comprando directo con Amazon.

    I'm looking to use facepaint to print logos on faces with stencils, what paint would you recommend me? Thanks!

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 7 lety

      On faces I only recommend one kind of face paints: water based face paints just like the ones I use. Nothing else is appropriate for direct contact on the skin. I would recommend to use the brands Diamond FX or Wolfe FX because they have the best "stay on" qualities compared to other brands that lose their shine and brightness easily after a few hours. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for another good video that helps fill the void with information that's important and efficient to learn.
    So I should read the label of the paint to know if it has wax? Am I looking for the word 'wax' or could it be known as something else? Unless the websites who sell them have a phone number to call and ask, there's no way to know since we can't examine the label in advance of ordering. Otherwise, we're just taking people's word for which brands do or don't have wax in it.

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 7 lety

      You are already getting very very specific 😮That's right, you will find this info on the label. Yes, the word "wax" or "paraffin wax" will give the information that this type of paint is better for line work. Hard to say how to get this info directly. I guess that this is the kind of thing you learn with the experience but I can give you a few hints on the brands I know and use:
      Wax based: Wolfe FX, Diamond FX, Tag,
      Glycerin based: Mehron Paradise, FAB, Superstar,
      Hybrid: Kryolan, Cameleon
      You should also know that "wax based" paints also have Glycerin in their ingredient list too but it's not listed in the first line but further down the list. Glycerin based paints however have Glycerin within the first few ingredients in their list and no wax usually.
      You could ask the very kind people at SillyFarm.com about this. They sell tons of different brands of paints and could give you more info if you need it.

    • @JoeDoe2
      @JoeDoe2 Před 7 lety

      I keep hearing differing opinions, such as, "wax based is best for bases, and the 'creamy' ones are for line work." I'll just have to buy one color in each of the major brands and decide for myself. Thanks for the detailed explanation. No one else offers that. I think they abandoned their youtube channels after youtube cut their pay way down. Not worth it to them anymore.

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  Před 7 lety +1

      As I said, money is not my motivation here, so I don't worry too much about that. I cannot imagine that one would find it easier to get clean and crisp lines with the creamier face paints but I am willing to keep an open mind. I am not the "face painting police" anyway... 😂

      Spray face paint is called airbrushing. Be careful though because some airbrushing paints are more difficult to remove and should not be used on the face...

      DahnasBalloons95 it was in a metal can you didn't have to use.a machine for it. tried every were to find it and cant x x

      @RozaDimkaBelikova95 Před 6 lety +1

      Some airbrushing can be done from a can. If it was on your face then it probably wasn't what I use. I use global body art tattoo spray, but that should NOT be used on the face, as it can last a while...

    • @RozaDimkaBelikova95
      @RozaDimkaBelikova95 Před 6 lety

      jemma richardson also keep in mind that some face paint airbrush inks can be used in an already empty spray can...

      @SophiesTipps  Před 6 lety +1

      Sorry for the late reply but I agree 100%, spray paint should never be used on the face because it isn't water soluble. I am not aware of any brand of safe face paints that come in spray. Beware, this could do more harm than good....

      I bought the better one in Germany a long time ago. You can see it here: www.eulenspiegel-schminkfarben.de/produkte/uebungskoepfe-und-paint-board/uebungskopf-competition-pur?c=37 but if I would buy one now, I would go for the ProFace because I heard lots of good things about it.
