Writer, composer and director Vishal Bhardwaj is in Guest in the Newsroom. He talks about his upcoming series Charlie Chopra. One thing I remember...Big names in Bollywood supported Vishal Bharadwaj when his Maqbool was released. I saw a news where Aamir, Karan Johar, etc. went for his screening and were appreciating his movie. That compelled me to watch his films and now I am a fan.

oh god. .. vishal sir ne jab last mai woh gaana gaya o saathi re..mere raungte khade ho gaye... uff.. what a man and what a filmography. ! i wish i could listen to him for hours n hours. ( although i dont like his politics specially in Haider but i respect and admire him a lot )
Vishal Bhardwaj (born 4 August 1965) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer. He is known for his work in Hindi cinema, and is the recipient of eight National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award.
Bhardwaj made his debut as a music composer with the children's film Abhay (The Fearless) (1995), and received wider recognition with his compositions in Gulzar's Maachis (1996). He received the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for the latter. He went on to compose music for the films Satya (1998) and Godmother (1999). For the latter, he garnered the National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Bhardwaj made his directorial debut with the children's film Makdee (2002), for which he also composed the music. He garnered critical acclaim and several accolades for writing and directing the Indian adaptations of three tragedies by William Shakespeare: Maqbool (2003) from Macbeth, Omkara (2006) from Othello, and Haider (2014) from Hamlet. He has also directed the action film Kaminey, the black comedy 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), and the satire Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (2013).
In addition, Bhardwaj produces films under his banner VB Pictures. He has co-written and produced the films Ishqiya (2010), its sequel Dedh Ishqiya (2014), and the crime drama Talvar (2015), among others. He has composed the musical score for each of his directorial and production ventures, and frequently collaborates with the lyricist Gulzar. He is married to playback singer Rekha Bhardwaj.

I came across Vishal's work with Omkara for the first time. Since then, he has been an eternal discovery, a polymath in matters of movies. To me he is a direct connection to and right after Satyajit Ray. Kudos to this gentleman!

What an amazing conversation! Just love the way Vishal Bharadwaj conceives his movies. Such a beautiful list of films that showcases his craft and his work. Surprisingly, not a single filmmaker of this time could think of making movies on great books and stories. I’m just amazed to see how someone can be so passionate about his work. This was the best episode of Lalantop.
Try watching the one with Saurabh Shukla.....that was even better...though I literally worship Vishal ji as a person and his thought process

Saurabh Bhai why didn't you ask him any question about the plight and pain faced by Hindus in Valley during the period of militancy. He talks about one side, at least he should be straight forward in this matter.

I used to believe that Saurabh is unbiased and balanced. But you can see the contradiction of tough questions being asked between Vivek Agnihotri and Vishal Bharadhwaj. Not a single question for not showing Kashmiri Pandits in the Haidar film.

Also, before claiming Kashmir Files as a propaganda film, i will simply ask you to show me any articles or videos which can provide some proof that the film is propaganda. Just FYI that film has got only 800 screens across India and it has grown by its merits.

My point is that how can you completely ignore dark chapter of Kashmir Pandit genocide, while showing the film in that particular timeline and location. At least, some subplot has to be there. He just steals the famous classics and call them his own. A mid talent guy. Also, in Haider he showed Indian Army in such bad light. Bitten by the bug to call himself an intellectual by abusing army actions and sympathises with terrorists. Even calling them “militant” in this interview.
