Hasbro is rather silly for not just revealing figures as resin prototypes. But what really grinds my gears is when these people steal the figures before the line is even announced. Like I remember before the kingdom line was announced we were seeing reviews on Rattrap and Cheetor. And it has been confirmed that they are seeing the stolen figures. That’s part that also annoys me. But I agree with all your points. Hasbro should really be revealing there transformers stuff earlier.
Bandai and all of the Gundam kit related news has largely been right on the money with transparency and timing. Hastak would do well to take notes.
Very true. If we’re getting a new wing Gundam it’s revealed and put on on preorder the very same day or week. Meanwhile with hasbro you have figures you didn’t even know existed already in store in places.
What Bandai's done right is that they only show the CGI samples and even resin prototypes of their upcoming kits and figures when they announce them.
They're not yet put on stuff like runners or have been produced in advance so smuggling early samples is nearly impossible.
@@starforcenetwork usually we get resin about 9 months in advance of a kit, painted prototype 6 months in advance, cgi maybe 4 months in advance, box art 1 month in advance, and unpainted samples with reviewers like dengeki hobby and bandai's channel in that final month. pretty consistent with every kit, and it keeps things in the back of your mind long term, its genuinely an exciting formula
Plus with Bandai you have a good idea of what’s being made next either from the box art like all the OO mgs or generic runners like the mg Barbatos runners just called Gundam frame.
I think it’s genius how you shown the lil images for the 3 reviewers, not saying who they are but the image has something to do with it, sly, subtle, but genius
PrimeVsPrime, TonTon, Kremzeek Reviews, and Chefatron are the main ones, dunno why there wasn't a fourth image
Red Alert was on Pulse in the US right after the last fan first Friday, people have already received their orders. Not a single word about him, just showed up on the site.
A laid-back Transformer fan and infrequent consumer: "Hmm, I wonder what became of that new Red Alert? *Google search* Oh, it's on Hasbro Pulse? Sold Out?? Why didn't Hasbro say anything?"
it also went right out of stock almost immediately after... that hurt
yeah usually all it takes is one person that checks them religiously, liek has the tab on refresh, liek with red alert here, it popped up, someone in our FB community said hey they have them, and in less than 20 min, at least 50 of us had up messages of order confirmed, who know how many didnt say a word and got theirs
I feel like my true issue with stolen reviews themselves are the potential dishonesty, since I've heard sometimes the stolen copy doesn't have all the accessories or QC issues that may be passed as "Oh all copies are doomed." On top of also mistransforming figures and/or missing features because they don't have a proper instruction sheet. (Not saying those sheets and such are always perfect at telling you everything but it's better than absolutely nothing.)
That being said I think this video perfectly explained the real reason we need to look at, I only know so much about upcoming Transformers BECAUSE of leaks and early reveals from other places. Having an official outlet that reveals things properly on top of giving proper ETAs would help out immensely.
Moment I saw the title, I knew I had to click the notification. This is an issue I’ve wanted someone to get into for a bit now.
They literally just need to announce them as soon as manufacturing starts so that we aren't surprised when a reviewer comes out with the review.
I personally like early reviews so I can determine if I want to preorder.
Good points. Overall it's just baffling to see that out of all my years of toy collecting, Hasbro is practically the only company where I keep seeing these smuggled factory copies get sold around easily yet don't give two shakes about it.
Hell why are they even already mass producing these things in a factory BEFORE they announce them? Usually you announce them first with some CGI samples to avoid this crap.
yeah, that is what they did with CW isn't it? we had cgi renders for months before we got official images
admittedly cw had the advantage of being 70 retools so everybody shared a model with somebody but even so,
Great video! This was fascinating (if not a little depressing)
I think a huge part of Hasbro's current approach (or lack thereof) is absolutely consistency and communication. If you're not eating, sleeping and breathing Transfomers every single day you could definitely miss something. There's rarely ever an official ETA and it makes it hard to walk into a store with an idea of what to expect. I have no idea when I can expect to see Kingdom Waspinator popping up, and it absolutely kills hype and anticipation. It doesn't become a day to look forward to, it's shoved off into the calendar as an eventuality to be likely forgotten about in favor of some more immediately available product or activity.
Makes me feel bad for the younger, less involved fans who just wanna know when they can get their own copies of toys they've been seeing for months online, and how that correlates with sales.
good point on Kingdom Waspinator (and by proxy Kingdom wave 4),
like, when are they coming out, why haven't they been officially revealed and put up for preorders yet? Wave 3 is hitting the shelves and there's three months left in this year, is hasbro planning to release them in December? or January? does that me wave 4 will get squashed up against Legacy and then become difficult to find?
I have been stealing all of the unreleased toys and auctioning them off. It was me all along.
In my opinion Hasbro is making too many figures and it's making them fall behind in terms of revealing everything on time. And i know it's a toy company but they should probably get better security
I disagree. They're obviously selling well, and I dig that they're doing such obscure characters.
This was really well put together
@@TheLazyEyebrow lol I didn't notice I thought you guys were friends granted you probably are but I thought you two had spoken more than twice LOL sorry
Ngl it’d be like twisting the knife in the wound if Hasbro doesn’t reveal kingdom wave 4 in like, what? 1, 2 days?
They have to reveal it tomorrow, if they don't, the figures will be out before they're even revealed.
I can't help but notice that every time they had stolen figures, they were during times where the factories were located in an area with a large plague of bootlegs. Hasbro really needs to reevaluate their locations, and not put them in high-crime locations.
it feels like hasbro doesnt really care about transformers compared to their other brands. i mean look at marvel legends, star wars black series or gi joe classified. those figures are not only announced wayyyy in advance but you rarely see early reviews on them. those brands are given so much love when hasbro is choosing to piggyback off of studio series 86 and shattered glass in the few times transformers get an event.
I'm not sure if Hasbro has any agency over this but you also have next to nothing new happening with Transformers as well. Animated was as unique as it got, afterwards we got the same thing: Optimus and Megatron fight, Unicron comes in, war ends. Sometimes Primal is involved if they want Beast Wars. It's a lot of repetition.
@@hyperion3145 maybe bring back a Unicron trilogy like series because anime is way more popular and imagine anime about giant robots
“With the exception of Slammer.” Well, Slammer was just leaked yesterday. That’s it for Kingdom.
I thought the video was gonna be about the Matrix of leadership ngl its very convoluted nowadays
I just reuse old photos for announcements. They rarely have any bearing on the actual content
Thanks for covering this, tho I do disagree with some of your points, Slag Podcast did a good video a while back on it too. Its good that people are starting to get annoyed with these scumbags, I've been done with it for years. Honestly, its disappointing that its gone to the length that it has with these reviewers, I get the reason why, but what they do not only harms Hasbro to a degree, but it also takes views away from reviewers that are much better, but get their figures legitimately, like you yourself. Hopefully Hasbro will get a system going where they reveal digital renders, put pre-orders up, then do Kingdom style product shots at a later date before anything ships out.
This is not a hypothesis, it's a diagnosis. (Can you imagine "Hypothesis Insanity"?)
(And I forgot what else I was going to say...
I'll likely go back and comment the thing I was going to say next when I remember it.)
*I just remembered:
Also, good job on releasing this diagnosis on the LATEST of Wednesday.
Thursday for me. Wanted to get this out a little earlier, since there was already a delay due to me getting a head cold
I agree with the fact hasbro needs to reveal their stuff way earlier but at the same time you have some channels that get figures before their subline even exists. I remember seeing ratrap when we only knew the name kingdom.
Not to mention them announcing the figure after it’s already out. I didn’t even know we were getting a cyberverse Ramjet but it’s already out in singapore
Now that many of the toys are exclusives that are either difficult to find in stores or have to preorder months in advance, fans are forced to buy immediately and ask questions later. I used to be able to wait for Emgo's or Optobotmos' reviews to decide if I want to buy a certain toy. But now I have to rush to Target or Wal-Mart to buy stuff before the scalpers scoop everything up, or even worse I have to preorder from Amazon months in advance long before I have any official way to inquire about the quality of my purchases.
I got Grindor in Target two weeks before he was unveiled. Bought next to Slug.
Hi love youer stoff but I do have a question I also live in Australia and bin a wanting the new transformers stoff we’re do you recommend I should shop?

Reminder that Earthrise Bluestreak was technically never announced, and yet he’s been out for more than a year
That grindor situation reminds me of what happened to t wrecks. He showed up in the toy store I work at wayyyy before Hasbro revealed him. This is in aus btw

@@DrLockdown plus remember that leaked megs head with his teeth showing? Yeah that would've been perfect for twrecks, personally wasn't a fan of the silver lipstick he got lol.
Definitely agree with a lot of points here if hasbro reveals stuff much earlier it definitely would help and honestly to me stopping the stolen sample being taken from the factories definitely would help it as well considering this isn’t the first time this has happened cause I love watching the Fan First Friday’s as I want to see what is coming out and get excited and yet I can barely do that now cause these “reviews” basically just ruin it for me
It's funny because the reviewer Chefatron not only reviews new transformers that aren't yet available on the market, he also sells them immediately right after. I saw him sell SS Jolt and SS ROTF Sideswipe as a set.
Very good video. Love the editing.
Really interesting approach to this issue.
Ridiculous approach. And I know I'm probably just speaking to you Lockdown. ;) Lol yall are indeed thin-skinned nowadays.
I remember someone giving out his opinion that Hasbro should just release toys straight out the door without bothering with announcements... which really ruffled folks the wrong way cus the way it was presented and who it was coming from sounded like a declaration rather than a discussion.
The thing is it looks the early-birders have been on CZcams for nearly a decade, but fell to the temptation when the opportunity arose.
Ironically the person who made that argument...is now doing stolen toy reviews
It’s chefatron I remember the days were he wasn’t (not 100% confirmed but heavily believed) buying stolen toys
@@DrLockdown One of these days, I should meet up with him, since he lives a few streets away from me, and while I won't bring it up at all (because why would i?), if I can glean that he's also been economically affected by the way our government is so slapdash about handling the pandemic (I actually wonder who's worse, us or Brazil), it might make the picture of his shift clearer.
The Kingdom Wave 4 Pre orders will likely show up just in time for all the Pulse orders from months ago to go to taking payment - thus making me flinch since wave 4 is already made and any delay is mostly just bad management. 4th Quarter 2021 is going to be so darn expensive.
This is my personal opinion about it , it's not such" stolen " problem the company always have some market division when they planned how they gonna move their product and the reviewers are the perfect score for promotional purposes ,they have green light to take some merchandise to throw away for the sake of the hype. This 3 dudes it is more than clear that are well connected with someone on the inside the premises and always have the exclusive to review it first. I got to say that Ton Ton to is very good at this too. One of the main problems of not found any of these figures in stores are the retail stores employees who took them first and bought them for themselves and never the product see the shelves in stores. Love your videos keep up the great content and cheers from PR 💪.🧡
Ok, now I'm weirded out. I seen Kingdom Red Alert in a store lately, even tho my country is either getting TF stuff with an extreme delay ( even years ) or we don't get them at all.
I mean, hell, we don't even have Studio Series Brawl yet, as well as almost half of Siege and Kingdom.
What also upsets me is even when they reveal the toys (or dont), sometimes the figure you care about is banished to the exclusive zone (like Target/Amaxon/Walmart exclusive)
I'm still hoping for a rerelease of prowl/ironhide from earthrise
What we need is a wide rerelease of ER, Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Dirge, Ramjet and Thundercracker and Skywarp..
I live in Russia and ordering exclusives from internet is too expensive :(
I just saw Earthrise Ironhide and Prowl on Amazon or Ebay yesterday for $400. It's insane. I should have got them when they were only $50-$70
Jesus coming here like two and a half years later and not only is this video still relevant it's arguably more so with how the designers admit on stream that it doesn't matter because everything is already out there
Or they may have to stricten the release in countries worldwide so they release within a week or so of each other and upload reveals earlier too. They also need to improve on distribution like maybe make it so hasbro ships to more countries
Heres the problem
Rise of the beasts come out
Stydio series Optimus isn’t coming until august
Mirage and primal THE MAIN GODAMN CHARACTERS arent out until December WHEN THE PUBLIC DOESN’T GIVE A SHIT ANYMORE
I got red alert in my local small geek shop. Last month. In a country that doesnt get mainline toys
This is worth the watch
Is that g1 sound wave mold a new character? I never seen that before.
It's balvintron: a recent collaborative project. It's a redeco of the g1 version
Holy shit. This. This is where this argument needs to go. Other reviewers/fans pointing fingers and getting angry, thus causing an echo chamber of hate is absolutely not where we need to be going in terms of a frankly insignificant 1st world problem, and I'm glad you put light on that. You hit almost every main point I've kept track of for a while now. Biggest thing I'd like more attention on from what I've seen, is WHY these early samples are being distributed in the first place. What is causing workers to want to sell these? Why is this problem not as significant, if not nonexistent, with Legends, Black Series, or Gi Joe? Hasbro's factories, specifically Transformer production, has been flagged multiple times in the past for borderline inhumane working conditions, and hardly livable wages for its factory laborers. Is this problem persisting again? Especially with moving factories to Vietnam? There may be more incentives to leak toys at a higher margin to "reviewers". I know I'm just spitballing here, but I think we need to adjust where our gaze is aimed at, to figure out why this issue exists.
I don't know if this is related to hasbro's thing of not announcing product before its turning up, but here in the us people (such as myself) were finding Transmutates at Gamestops in mid-late July when her preorder date was supposed to be Aug 1
And on top of that, the ship date on pulse preorders got pushed back to september.
Yeah I got mine in June, here in Australia. The release schedule is stupid

@@windowbewbs9064 I saw that on a video he did He is like just like my buddy PrimeVsprime. I refuse to watch either of them. Like I said above I was disappointed with Primevsprime. in his earthrise Hoist review. He said he did not know if G1 Hoist had those arm panels. I told him He did & How hard is it for him to look up a picture of the g1 hoist I told him it's not that hard jesus.
I just want to know why a huge company like Hasbro who specializes in toy manufacturing allows the camera quality in the fan friday panels. It’s terrible.
The past FFF was great and it is exactly what Hasbro should be doing as far as reveals going forward. Seeing the prototypes and renders is enough to gain initial fan interest, regardless if they're months ahead of the figure out at retail.
They can go in stages of developments as the week go by, one week its renders, then the prototypes, then the colored samples and then the final product. I would even suggest they have someone on staff from the factory (not a floor employee, like a manager) show us the final product and do a quick presentation in both bot and alt modes.
But what is curious, or maybe im not looking in the right places, but this seems to be a Transformers only issue for Hasbro, I dont see this happening with their Marvel Legends, GI Joe Classified Series or Power Rangers lines where reviewers are getting them from the factory.
One thing people don't realize is, getting views and growing the channel are not it. Some have affiliates link with stores which fans can preorder if they are interested (which they will make sure fans get interested, if you know what I mean!). It's the cashier that's ringing too.
I don't think that Hasbro would have to take everything down to DMCA the three channels as there is a clear difference between reviewers like PerspectiveEnd and Kit Katastrophie and the three channels mentioned in the video, that being that the previous three are reviewing figures obtained illegally whereas the former 2 are not, and I'm pretty sure that the courts would see a difference there between reviews of a figure that was recently released in that country at the time of upload and reviews of figures that aren't even out yet and are just stolen factory samples, with the same applying to Johnny Flash's animations and transformers the basics
Context can Makena big difference after all
Doclock: makes a deep dive on a serious issue
Me: soundwave go :)
Yup, it's Hasbro everyone should be mad at. Not just for the lack of reveals, but that workers feel the need to sell these toys because their wages are so dogshit. I can't really even fake caring the topic of "stolen products" because Hasbro is a multi million dollar corporation and stealing from them will always be based
Even if they were paid well, there will always be people who take something and sell it to make a little extra on the side
We still don't have grindor in the UK but here I am, seeing every single person on every single social platform with him
The comic ur friend made is goated
Like some cases I seen in the comments of finding something before a review is up or even before its pointed out to come out in other countrys I found all of the zords from beast morphers on a local toy shop here in mexico wich was kinda odd cause we get thing way 1 or 2 months after everyone else hasbro is wierd with distribution and releases
Who’s the 3rd reviewer based on the USA?
I got my Red Alert from Hasbro Pulse i didn't get a alert from them saying that he was available i was just looking one day at their website and he was there so i bought it by the next day they already sold out. The thing that use to get me mad it was that a figure would be announced for a specific day and i would pre-order them but them someone on youtube would do a review of say figure weeks or months before the figure was suppose to come out and every time that happen Amazon would change the day that the figure was suppose to come out thanks to that i lost the chance to get the coneheads and Ratchet and Prowl because i wouldn't have the money to buy them
More companies should look towards fan works like Sega does, where the only time they said not to play a fangame was one which had malware
Nintendo needs to chill. Do some crossovers and get money, let fan games bring people to your property, let people use characters for fan projects.
The problem we have now is that the big three are now competing with each other to insane levels, PvPs review of Tigatron is quite possibly the most blatant example since theres literally no other place he could have got that than straight out the factory pile. Hell im not even sure he knows what hes talking about half the time hes in such a rush to get his review out.
By the time normal reviewers can get hold of these figures the hype is gone and no one wants to watch, it kills revenue for everyone else reviewing the figures honestly.
Ill be honest, ive watched PvP on occasion not realising this was what was happening behind the scenes I just assumed he had a deal with hasbro or something, but if he and the other two are buying stolen goods then I can no longer support that especially at the expense of other creators.
He sucks Just like with earthrise hoise. He did not know if G1 toy had those arm panels. I told him look up a picture not that difficult DO research. I think He doesn't do research & doesn't know about this stuff when he reviews it I heard he is like in his 20's Primevs prime. But he is a big turn off for me. Optibotimus a good friend of my I meet & dones few things with him. He told me he knew all this time PrimeVs prime gets stolen toys.. I never watched another video of his after earth rise hoist. I said screw him.
1:37 Yeah I already knew who it is
Another problem with Hasbro is their international market, here in Mexico is almost impossible to get most of the transformers, not even on amazon or online stores, your options are buying form USA and import them yourself or buy them overpriced from someone that imported them themselves. Stores are full with siege starscream, astrotrain and springer, studio series ratchet, RotF megatron and mixmaster and nothing else.
There ain't hope to get the commander or titan classes in a toy store or any of the exclusives without paying triple of the market price.
The only time I get them early is pre order
You know we do live in a society.....you finish the sentence
Hahaha. I love the icons that make it obvious which 3 you're talking about. I refuse to watch their reviews, knowing they're reviewing stolen product and only care about being "first".
As someone who got back into the hobby in 2020 it’s jarring seeing how certain figures have video reviews MONTHS before they are even announced. It reminds me of the OCG and TCG for yugioh but instead there is a rampant black market for early figures
Honestly j dont mind it as it kinda helps me know if i want a figure or not…yeah they are stolen copies but i wouldnt be sold on togatron otherwise
"What is the effects this is having on the fandom?"
I hate how afraid other reviewers are to even mention these people by name. Sure it’s taking the high ground but I still think keeping them anonymous does somewhat of a disservice to the audience.
I'm not afraid to say who they are at all: I'm merely concerned people will be morons on the internet. The first reviewer already got death threats for reviewing an early toy negatively. It's ridiculous
@@DrLockdown yeah definitely understood. You actually basically did without saying exactly who but a lot of creators won’t.
@@dustyyshellz1320 From what I've read, part of that is that the Trio of Tripe (or at least a couple of them) will actually buy multiple stolen figures and sell them further down the chain to smaller reviewers. I saw a couple people here in the comments mentioning it, but no guarantee it's true (wouldn't be surprised) or who of the big four it is.
Hasbro needs a major intervention on the topic of transformers in general. Everything from promo images and reveals, to product distribution, and their online market system. They have been causing great grief for their fans and customers without a single care or show of remorse. Half of us still haven't seen a good portion of wave 2 from kingdom on shelves, let alone any actual figure outside the Cyberverse line. I don't know if it's the same level of confidence that Nintendo has in the belief that people will still buy regardless, or if they just stopped caring as a whole. It almost feels neglectful and insulting. Where are the figures? Why can't you handle your own product? Why Hasbro
I’ve never tuned into a transformers livestream ( I collect legends) but the issue is clear you need to tell people about the product . I’ve never noticed this with legends or Star Wars so This should be able to fix
To be fair even though these figures are being stolen it still gets fans hyped for what they’re expecting, most of the time. I’m not saying that it’s okay though that specific people are revealing them and of all honesty it’s more right for Hasbro to get to show off what they have in store, mainly because they’re the people who designed and manufactured them.
This may be true but I’m struggling to see how to fix it. The daisy chain of communication is probably insane given the size of the company. The advantage people who don’t want to or need to ask for permission is huge. Nothing can ever be done that isn’t under strict control and with that control takes time. I’m willing to bet dollars to donuts 5 to 6 people need to give an ok to make an announcement and you need to get through 5 or 6 people each to get to those people.
@@DrLockdown did they though? I’m unsure if that’s true and its possible things just got worse as they got bigger.
When rewatching this I saw the post I made about finding the spoiler pack at my Walmart at 1:22 lol
Its odd since prime vs prime has been sponsored and been showed the movie I think before others?
So I can't remember where it was, but you can actually contact hasbro as a reviewer to get products. However what I think is actually happening are people are making reviews and their video releases before the official announcement causing chaos
That's not what's happening here. There's a group of leakers who send out stolen factory samples to people 'in the know'.
Yeah I definitely agree. Although I will say that the stolen figure reviews do definitely impact other reviewers. The first review of a figure is def gonna have a huge bump in views compared to ones released later, so it's a little unfair if it's always the same few reviewers that get the first reviews out because they have the ability to buy stolen product months before anyone else. I mean that's neither here nor there in regards to drumming up hype for the franchise but it's still relevant.
Thats true of any early reviews, stolen or not. I've been on the receiving end of this for years. Honestly, I'm never going to get anything early as an Aussie, so I've realised the only way to get around this is to make higher quality videos
@@DrLockdown haha fair enough, but for people who have a chance to find it in retail first sometimes, does kinda suck that there's always gonna be a video out prior to the toys even hitting shelves
Ironically, this is also happening to the lego community (damn you imperial shuttle leaks).
Videos like this make me wish CZcams would give people an option to not see recommendations for the channel
Why would someone dislike about early reviews? First time i hear of people not liking it.
Not only stolen toy reviews but the distribution and scalpers play a part in this too. It seems bad all the way around for most collectors of any line
I was going to say just shut them down but you made a convincing argument against that.
I remember that meet up at hasbro aust hq i drove from Albury it’s a go to that thing that’s good time
I forget who said it but even the og transformers reviewer like peaugh and optibotimus do this kind of thing on their early days of reviewing transformers and this problem is as old as the youtube toys reviews
Maybe if they were transparent about where they get these figures instead of making a video saying how Hasbro should just not announce figures period to justify stealing figures for more clout (you know who I'm talking about), people would be less hostile. A hustle is a hustle, but theft is still theft, and I can't defend that.
