Tail Dragger Short Approach with Forward Slip at Van Nuys! (1946 Aeronca Chief)

  • With my slow airspeed and incoming jet traffic, ATC asked me to make a short approach for landing at Van Nuys. This minimizes my time in the traffic pattern and also has me landing further down the runway, where I can quickly exit. It's also a lot of fun!

    Nice! I remember doing my short field landing and simulated engine out all in one maneuver on my checkride. Examiner pulled the power and I sat it down right on the thousands lol.
    Your landings are textbook btw!
