I have a cranks but no start on my 2016 GL1800 w/ABS. I have the 1-9 code as well. You video doesn't point out the connector under the gas tank for the sensor. Any clues would help.I ordered the sensor. Thanks
It’s the red plug. Have you removed time case cover? When you do, you’ll be able to jiggle the cable and see which part of the loom it plugs into. Mine was in a clear protective sleeve. It was a red plug.
You need to removed the gas tank to be able to move the air box, the red plug is under the air box. Fingers cross the tank isn’t full or you have a mate handy. Use a protectant spray to lube up the removal and re install of the tank.
Well thanks for the info I really appreciate it! Yes the cover is off and I'm waiting on parts. Before I take the fuel tank Out I've decided I'll tie in the new sensor to the old harness first. If that fixes it I'm done, if not there will be more of the wing hitting the floor. I had 3 wings and between all three I logged approx 250,000 miles with never an issue like this. Thanks again.
@@kenwiltrout6148 I couldn’t believe the amount of dirt down in there. I spent more time cleaning than working. I was pissed when mine died. I had just done the head stem bearings, fork seals, brake pads and tyres and a week later it threw the code and wouldn’t start. I thought, I can’t exactly wheel it to the dealer. I would be reluctant to cut the wire. The only positive that it died at home. I got no warning as others have.
@@aussierustoration8703 I had a 96 1500 that I did timing belts tires etc but thats all, then I bought a 2007 1800 that I did steering head bearings, progressive suspension and to much to list. Have always done my own tires etc. I went with a car tire on the rear a few years ago but only use it on long trips.
It works very well on long trips I’m not crazy about it when I’m running around on secondary roads it does make the motorcycle feel a little Squirrley in the back ,not that it’s unsafe though. We take a long motorcycle vacation every year usually about two weeks and 5000 miles that’s when I put the car tire on I can take several vacations before I have to replace it. Got the motorcycle up and running yesterday, speed sensor must’ve been bad.
Got it under control, Thanks!! Just waiting on parts.

Order a gasket too, I tried to save mine, but she was crispy.
It’s a big job, it’s a big dig into the belly of the beast with ABS. With no ABS it’s a much easier job. If you need a hand, let me know.

@@kenwiltrout6148 I never went to the dark side, I was worried why my insurance company would say if I needed to claim. How was it?
