For those of you who don't know what song Slash was working on that he didn't want to play, it is on his new record now and it is called Automatic Overdrive. He says in a brief interview on his channel that he went on a trip and didn't bring his guitar but was memorizing a song. And that is the same he said in this interview. Just something I wanted to point out since I thought it was interesting.

And even more impressive, some says he is clean from both Jack Daniels and drugs today.

He actually died for a few seconds in 1991 from overdose before being revived, and nearly died again in 2001 because his heart was seriously weakened from the booze and the doc gave him weeks to live. He got a pacemaker, went straight into physical therapy and was back on tour in a few months! It's a miracle he's alive.

I don't understand how you think someone who dedicates hours upon hours a day mastering their craft is something worthy of degradation. People are attracted to greatness. To make it to the top level you have to wake up and go to sleep practicing the same thing every day for years. The only reason you feel the need to tell a top level professional like Slash to "take it down a notch" is because you are jealous on some level. You see Slash and it makes you look at yourself and feel shitty that you don't have what he has. So you attach a mediocre label like "just a guitar player" and that makes the shitty feeling go away because you bring him closer to your mediocre level. If youre too lazy to reach greatness, fix it. Don't create an illusion of character flaws in other people to justify your lifestyle. "I'm just a dime-a-dozen office drone.. but Slash is just a guitar player! We're not so different!"
You also seem to have a lot to say about how other people should run their lives. If they want to kickstart VR again they will do it. Not everything is about what you want. "Can't be that hard"... like what the fuck. They are human beings with their own lives not some puppets that automatically share the same priorities as you do. How about you let Slash live his life the way he wants to live it and you worry about running your own life.
You also need to realize that the whole "youuuureee selling ouuut maaaaaan" is a bullshit notion. As an artist, you want to stay relevant because that is what allows you to do what you love without having to worry about things that will distract you from your passion. You also want to share your passion and your art with as many people as possible. Do you really think when he's paying for his kids tuition, putting food on the table, not having to worry about bills, and not being a slave to a cubicle he's thinking "Ohhhhh jeeeeezus... i shouldn't be earning all this money. I should be a struggling artist to keep my authenticity! I need me and my family to struggle so stupid people dont call me a sell out! Id rather have to work 8 hours a day at burger king than have all this free time and money!!" If you have a choice to share your art in front of 50 random bums or a crowd of thousands why the fuck would anybody pick the former. There's literally no logical reasoning behind Slash deciding not market his image.
Now i know... youre offended after reading this and will have all kinds of retarded rebuttals because nobody on the internet actually says, "Hey I took a step back from my ego and really considered what you said and here is why I agree/disagree with it". So save your diss on how this is a long post, how slash shouldnt be compared to einstein, your simplistic hipster "money is the root of all evil" bullshit, umadbr0, "entitled to my opinion" shield, and just thank me in a few years when you look back and remember the point in your life where you started questioning your ideologies and opinions.
