There's just something about these 1980's bikes that is way way sexier than bikes of today. I don't know exactly what it is but it definitely is.......miss those days too of course. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
You're right. It seems like each manufacturer had their own unique frame design. You can strip the decals off any 1980s frame and still be able to tell who made it. Looptails, bends, double bends, twin top tubes, square tubes, extra support tubes, gussets, etc. Then you add the over the top paint hues, wild decals, standing platforms, pegs, mags, and layback seat posts. The 1980s had it all.
1985, I was 11 years old, with an all white GT Performer, white mags, white pegs, white break shoes... Doing Miami Grasshoppers, table tops, can can's off of launch ramps...!!! Love this sh.. I lived half a block away from a Redline sponsored freestyler at the time... I feeling an urge to watch RAD now... Lol!
I was a huge fan of elf , titan, free agent, silver streak , robinson, and trickstars from those days. raced an elf back in the early 90's and loved it. state champ back to back
Back In The 80s A Kid I Knew Had A Diamond Back It Was Super Light , I Think It Was The Nickel Frame , I Remember It So Well That Was One Of The Baddest Bike I Had Ever Ridden, It Was Cool Of Him To Let Me Run That Bike As Fast As I Could, I'm 55 Now But I've Never Forgotten That BikeTill This Day.
I had a diamond back when I was a kid. I didn't know what I had. It was my favorite bike of all though. Kept it for years and never knew it's worth. I think my mom found it at a garage sale
some of these bikes I never seen before,,, I thought I seen an all but not even close . I was born 74 and grew up riding quality and yet I ain't seen half these bikes growing up. Amazing competition
Also a couple of these bikes you will only ever see in Michigan in fact I jumped and rode a couple of these bikes in this posting. Who saw the magnesium god if I remember right
Hey just bought my DJ PK Ripper this month they are an awesome shop! Shout out to Albe's and the awesome customer service in this tough challenging time. Salute!
I had a gorgeous white Hutch Trick Star when I was 10 in 1985. It took months for it to get built, this was the version with the short pegs on the forks and had the frame standers. Skyway bars, Tuffs, Gyro, mushroom grips, Redline cranks, Tuf Neck, laid back seat, bear trap pedals...just beautiful. I had it only a couple of months before it was ripped off. Still hurts to this day.
I still have my Mongoose with the Moto Mags, all original, down to the stickers, blue tires , tubes, seats, only thing missing are they pads for the goose neck, cross bar and those super sticky blue grips.
My favourite BMX bike was the MONGOOSE PRO CLASS.I had a SUPERGOOSE, but so wanted a PRO CLASS in BLACK,but couldn’t afford one.I just hope they rerelease it like they did with the SUPERGOOSE & CALIFORNIA a year or so back. Those rereleased bikes sold out,so hopefully the PRO CLASS will get rereleased in the next year or so.
Awesome show piece. Gotta say the blue Hutch leaves me speechless at how much detail they put into that bike . The tiny blue rivets tying the spokes to the hub rim Wao
I surprised my nephew a few months ago told him I had his old mongoose bmx California from 85 in my garage they moved 20plus years ago was going to leave th in a barn I took them to keep for them they never knew it boy was he happy to get it back. Said had good memories of ridding it back then.
Raced the chrome moly Mongoose locally in 78/79, then someone broke into our garage, the Only thing they stole was the bike, this vid brings back Great memorys, Thanks.
Mind telling me where? I’m from metro Detroit. These bikes are awesome. I had a 1984 CW Z3000, decked out with redline 401 cranks. Z rims, uni seat, what a bike. It got stolen in August 86 and I never got over it. I bought a GT, but I never had the interest after I lost that bike. Now as a middle aged man, I find myself wanting to rebuild the bike I lost.
Two best bikes I had was the Hutch Hollywood Mike Miranda and an Elf. I use to fly on the Elf. The Elf was so hooked up it was ridiculous!!!! Bear Traps on Redline Fights, DK Mini Neck bolted to Powerlite Bent Grip Bars with Ame Grips, GT Hubs spoked to Ukai 1.25 Rims with IRC tires, Uni Turbo Seat (don,t remember the seat clamp brand)
not bad, Guy's if your in need of 80's BMX stuff, hit up this great shop on facebook called "80's BMXShop. They been shipping world wide since 2009 & have the cheapest price's in the world on this Old school BMX stuff. Used,NOS,they also $buy/$sell,Trade year round too,so hit them up!
It sure was. I was 14 and could only afford the FST. Same colour scheme It took me nine months to save the money. The Masters and Sports were basically double the price here in Australia. I got the group 1 in the 90s with the bent top tube. That was also a good ride.
Once owned a JMC , "Darrell young" in white ,,,it also had a "BROWNING" 2 spd shifter setup!! Don't see many of those around!! I used to watch darrell race in the 80's , at canby Oregon bmx ,,or the lumberjack nationals,,alongside Stu Thompson,,Gary Ellis,,Greg hill!!! Just to name a few!!! Great vid....👍
Back when I was a kid I had a foiler it was gold frame anodized blue each and every other color it was stolen of course so I ended up getting a race Incorporated and did the exact opposite color scheme with it I remember it being round a little over 15 pounds
Just my opinion but I had every color in the f series haro bikes . I owned every color in the mid 2000s models . I still have all of my f series too . I’ve got the chocolate , my mustard yellow . All black frame. I have the silver frame . I also have the red f series frame with the yellow splash in the logo . The f series mid 2000s haro models were by far the best vintage bmx bikes in my opinion . I’m not into the gt bmxs. They look to homie for me . I like the classic off road bmx bikes . Haro is the best of all bmxs!!!!!! Great video though !!! It’s nice to see so many bmx bikes in one huge room haha
It’s great to see the Diamond Back at 1:25. The 90 plus DB are often left out of the collections. The DB were very popular in Tennessee during the 90s.
I can't believe all of the retro 80's & 90's bmx & freestyle bikes that I loved & in some cases owned over my 40 yrs ALL had top of line 3 piece cranks. I was certain mine were all 1 piece that came already severely bent for my convenience.
Albes used to have old skateboard decks not reissues the real deal. I bought a Micke Alba, Duane Peters, Mike Smith and an old first model Lance Mountain. This was around 1991-92. My full timer back then was a Powell Mike Schmidt and a Lucero Designs Shark. All my boards were vert since I fucked it up in pools and half pipes. I'm 50 now! And recently went to a cool park in Austin that actually has a bowl deeper than 3ft!! Edit: does anyone remember Scott the skater who worked there?
@@thomasnikkola5600 I may have to get it back together. Prices on parts are quite crazy though. Oakley 3's are out of the question and Hutch beartraps too. It had Akai rims with Bullseye hubs with a 16 tooth ring. I think snake belly tires by Schwinn. I do have the pricier parts already though. Chrome IS mandatory.
These bikes were not cheap by no means. I remember putting a Hutch Trick Star on layaway in 1985 for 459.00. It seemed like forever to pay it off with a paper route.
$1185.00 in today's money adjusted for inflation. I had $1200.00 into a hoffman condor in 94 myself. Buying my same frame back last summer from the same kid I sold it to in 96.....I got $4k into it now. Lol.
Does anyone know anything about"quickline" bikes that were built in lake elsinore ca back in the 80's? Recently scored on one and havnt been able to find much on them other than who built them and where. Its got GT wheels, cooks cranks and possibly crupie peddles and odyssey bar clamp and breaks on it.
I'm looking for a 1988 Haro Invert frame and GT knee saver bars the small low cut ones and a set of GT drop forks from like 1990 erra. Know any places to look to buy
Anybody remember S&M Holmes. I always wanted one of them cause it has my first and middle initial and my full last name Holmes. Gonna end up doxing myself🤓
Man... Seen my old Hutch! Fuck..it got stolen in front of a 7 Eleven in Midland, Texas! Went on a rampage after that. In the 80's and you had a nice bike? You had to watch it like a hawk!!!
I built a bike from scratch and had a frame and fork set called a Curtis Trickster. Does anyone know anything about these? I cant find any info. This was back around 82 in England. It was a cool bike, Chrome with red Skyway Tuff2 Mags with Graphite hubs, Suntour clamp, Redline Flight crank, Ame mushroom's grips. Thats all I can remember. A LOT more sexier....the fascination for us came from the beauty of the bikes prmarily....and secondary from the tricks

It's chrome & annodizing and polished aluminium instead of painting everthing.
Probably the quality
They have a soul & style that the new bikes just can't match.

Damn I wish I still had my Savage Freestyle from around 86... all chrome with blue tires and blue accents also double bar handle bar, gooseneck seat.

Daniel Eidet I can relate. I spent 2 years building up a CW Z300 for it to get swiped. Hurt so bad I could never get into bikes again.
Great Memories Of My Childhood 🔥
Your avatar brings back great memories of my kidnapping and hostage situation down in Madamoros😳🤐
Redline all day. Awesome vid thx

Bike Shop rocks, I got Matt Hoffmans autograph here back in the day when he was doing his Haro thing
So many cool bikes. Thank you
1980s bmx for life and don't 🤕

Brings back so many memories. I'm glad I held on to some of the classics. Auburn 2 piece frame with Z-rims. A elf double cross. And a few others.

I had a 1985 pink Haro sport. Wish I still had it. In two days I’m going to pick up a mint 2016 DMC Haro master.
Old school the beast. Bikes
Some great bikes a few that I have ridden & quite a lot that had mythical status when growing up

no mid-80's Performers and World Tours??
Was going to say no Kuwahara? and there it was at the end, all is well!
I had a Kuwahara in the late 80s!!! All chrome with white pads
