Excellent playing! Loving the rolls and trills. Thanks!!
thankyou, that was kind to reply so quickly.
I came across this video by accident and was completely blown away. Dude you are AWESOME and the ornamentations you display are totally nectar!!! Hope so much I can play like that someday i never thought there would be an instrument i love playing more than my fiddle but when i got my 1st low D whistle and learned my 1st tune i was completely hooked and actually play it more than my fiddle. Well Done and wish you all the best!!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!
OMG dude you are definitely one of the most talented whistle players I've ever heard...
It sounds amazing, i love low :) Great job!
Kisses!
F*ck yeh man! Smashed it brother!!
thankyou xxxx
Thank you for your heart warming comments.
Whoa 🌟
thankyou, cheers
thankyou
One of these is to be my next musical purchase. Then a fiddle. Thank you for the inspiration!
Wow, thats epic man :)
great
Laddie you made my day! That was QUITE nice!
@Coffinman8
Thanks for the comment. I think that traditional music sounds the best when performed on traditional instruments. If you play in the context of world fusion then an Irish tune on EWI or tenor sax could be a nice gimmick, but generally, for Irish music I prefer traditional woodwinds.
I recorded this video a few months after I got the whistle, but I have been playing different kinds of transverse flutes for years. Whistle as any fipple flute is very easy to play. You can by it at kerrywhistles com
absolutely love this. well done!
@SaReGaMaTheArtist No problem, you just keep working hard, you can easily be the best! :)
Excellent finger technique and a beautiful sound. I didn't notice the reversal of the hand positions till it was pointed out.
I'm planning on getting a low whistle soon, and that is how I will be playing. I'm right-handed, but I've been a left-handed piper for the past 8 years, and I don't plan on changing my hand positions for the whistle.
Also he goes for quite a while without breathing
amazing, that's amazing ! and it sounds so difficult !
Amazing!
@SaReGaMaTheArtist Cheers, can't believe I didn't think of that. And I see myself as being tech-savvy too :D
@Inheritencefan1134
Thanks!
I'm a novice in all that concerns Irish music, so your comment is really encouraging.
I´m very impressed Mr. Viking, subed ;D
It's Condor Bass Flute in D crafted by Odell Borg from highspirits com.
fantastic!! fab!, thankyou.
confused about what whistle to buy, love the tone that the chieftan whistle makes, is it expensive?
I notice you have a Native American flute displayed in the background. What type is it? And, who made it?
Very clever. I wondered how you did it. Nicely played, BTW. I have a lesser Kerry Low D (Black plastic fipple/alum body...probably no longer made) - it is NOT easy to play a Low D that quickly, with so few mistakes! I'll have to check out your other videos. Slainte!! :)
Really nice playing, inspiring stuff! I'm betting you recorded that bodhran backing track too. Thanks
Supi😘
Wow, that was really impressive. I used to play the whistle back when I was travelling and I would sorely like to get back to playing. Unfortunately now I'm not on the road I don't have people around willing to jam all that often so i was wondering where you got the drum track you were playing along with? Something like that would be awesome to help me get back into it.
Cracking vid. :)
i know that this is a really daft question, but how do you get an octave on it, coz you know on the descant recorder theres a wee whole at the back ye pinch tae get the higher notes, how do you do that on a low d whistle. i am teaching myself and cant figure it out. i can play the flute, violin, guitar and i feel so daft, asking this, but hey we all hae tae start somewhere i just dont know how to do it. thankyou sorry!!
@welshboi1649
I made this drum track myself. In fact, it's just a 6 seconds loop being played repetitively. There's lots of bodhran videos on CZcams, just extract a segment and play it in loop, that should do it.
Cheers.
@MexicanPiper
Not that I know.
Hey bro, what program do you use to reproduce bodhran samples for you to play on them?
Is this a particularly difficult instrument to master? How long have you been playing? I have played with a High D whistle in the past but it was very cheap and horrid sounding and am about to buy this exact model. Just looking for any advice you can give me.
Thanks
What key is the whistle in?
@welshboi1649
Yeah :)
Anyway, you can PM me your email and I'll send you the loop I'm using here.
What microphone do you use?
are you a viking?
Thanks!
Mine is an old version of Chieftain that is not manufactured any longer. It cost £165.
Check the store at kerrywhistles com
Very strange to renverse the hands !
