get one of those big shop fans with wheels and sharpen one those then throw stuff in it like a wood chipper
put some aerosol cans through it.
@TylerTube I was quite literally just talking about ceiling fans with my mom and she was saying that the idea of having a ceiling fan over the bed in her room sketched her out due to the potential wobbliness of the fan and it possibly falling. Lol.

I've never been more worried for Tyler than this video. He does a lot of crazy stuff but this video just reckless. It's cool and all, but Tyler, you really should have secured the fan in a way that it wasn't one accidental bump from slicing your head open.
It would probably fall at a weird angle and do something more gruesome then we thought possible.
Securing the cover would have solved this. I think he took the fan down to reattach the blades then was too afraid of the blades to reattach the cover.

Bro... Have you seen his videos playing with 9 volt batteries in series???? I'm a health and safety professional by occupation and I literally saw him come centimeters from killing himself through electrocution half a dozen times at least. I don't think he fully appreciates how close he was to dying on multiple occasions given the lack of controls he had in place
I just like how he essentially has large knives rotating at a high speed, shoves objects in them, and then looks surprised and bewildered when the objects get cut.
This is it. This is the most dangerous thing he's done since the batteries.

Keep in mind that during the initial ballistic hand test, Tyler would raise the hand from straight underneath close to the center of the fan. The highest velocity is actually at the tip of the fan blade which easily has enough force to amputate extremities.

Earlier this week I watched a High Speed Ballistics video where the last scene was a catastrophic RPG failure that sent one of the hosts to the hospital.
Needless to say, I was a little gun shy watching this video.
I wouldn't have enough force to decapitate, but I'm sure with a little bit of bad luck it could've been a serious injury, possibly even life threatening.
Quite impressed that Tyler somehow avoided the spinning fan of death becoming unattached, airborne and the end of Tyler. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the video, but damn, was that anxiety inducing. The only reason I could watch was because I knew he must've been OK or there'd be no video to watch

Very fortunate to have mounted the bracket the way that he did. If it was mounted in the other direction the kickback on the fan would have rocked it out. You can see it in some of the slo-mo how it pressed back into the back of the socket. If that was where the opening to install it was located, it would have come right out. If there is a revisit to the fan I'd suggest using zip ties or some sort of strap to temporarily lock the fan into the bracket.

Man there have been several videos where I have legitimately thought to myself, “one day we’re going to see a news report about him”. Today that thought has become a serious concern.
Bro...do a safety risk assessment asking "how could this go BAD" and then put controls in place to minimize the impact of those "bad" things. For instance...something like a few zip ties around that bracket could've reduced the "this thing could fall on my head" risk.
That's the same thing I immediately thought of. This was unnecessarily risky.

the kickback at 9:10 could have been very dangerous. not even considering the fact that all you had to do to keep the fan retained was to secure that neck you left danging. what if the fan swung over more and buried one of the blades in the back of your head?

@charlesl21 I'm an electrician, kwhp1507 is absolutely correct, the canopy retains the downrod in the bracket.
Depending on the fan, the canopy is either just a cover, or serves to hold up the entire fan, in this case, it’s merely just a cover. The canopy serves no purpose in holding up this fan.

@@spacecomma4355 it doesn’t. The ball is held in by a pin a the top of the downrod. That’s what keeps the downrod held inside the mounting bracket.
While this definitely ranks in the top 3 scariest things I've seen Tyler do, I still think the 300 9V batteries in series is undefeated for spot number 1.

This was pretty much the most danger I've seen you in. There were so many ways that could have gone very bad. The fan coming down on you, a blade breaking off and bouncing back at you, etc. When the Mythbuster crew did something like this, they considered the absolutely worst case scenarios and figured out how to protect themselves from those. I like your videos. Please take a little more time to do stuff like this in a safer fashion in the future.

There was a part where the fan tilted pretty far in one direction from one of the impacts I really thought it was going to send the whole thing falling and it almost hit you either way. Meant to pause and add it to the comments but forgot. Should of had some safety’s in place in the event that one of the blades fly off or the whole fan falls off the bracket considering the base wasn’t secured

It's concerning how many time you stood directly under this thing while stopping it's motion in a way it wasn't designed to handle. If any part of that assembly failed/fell, it would have been a slice to the back of the skull. Would you hang a lawnmower from the ceiling and then stand under it?

Growing up, we had ceiling fans on the second floor because the central air was insufficient. They were nearly identical to the one in your clip. Without sharpening could still do a fair amount of damage. While trying to fold a queen sized sheet my hand became intimate friends with the fan. No broken bones, plenty of cuts on my hand.
