I was looking for and at different tapestry crochet tutorials and came across this video. I use the same technique of carrying yarn from the beginning and for the same reason, consistency. Not always a secondary color if I don’t think I have enough of it until I absolutely have to. I love to crochet so sewing in ends is not something I have a problem with. I love that you get a hint of the carried yarn occasionally. It turns out lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Remember to keep checking the back of your work. After a few stitches, give it a quick glance and give a small tug to the colour that's peeking through. Not too tight otherwise it could cause puckering. Give it some trial and error until you have some more experience. I know other people also draw up a loop a little higher than a normal single crochet to account for the fact that you have to conceal yarn. That might help as well.
I'm looking to do a custom blanket using the tapestry crochet method. I was just wondering how the pattern for this was created (I'm assuming it was a computer program or website?) thanks!

Once I finish paying off a couple things I'm planning on getting the materials and giving it a shot :) I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes. How's yours going (assuming you're procrastinating less than I am, of course)
Add your colours in during Row 1 in the same place shown in the video. Tapestry crochet is worked the same way - conceal the colours you're not using behind the working yarn and change out for the appropriate strand when you need a colour change. But remember to keep checking the back of your work and give a small tug to the colours that are peeking through so the back is as clean as the front.

To avoid carrying yarn, I make bobbins. This is a much "cleaner". Technique!
That technique is called intarsia crochet while this is tapestry
