So Sting is now a photographer
Ya, Sting was stung by the photography bug.
is the first thing that i notice!
shafhamid83 He needs to pay for his grand kids school fees
He’s the spawn of Sting and Christopher Walken.
Singing "Don't stand so close to me" because he has a 85mm and it's totally ruining his shot.
That’s awesome. I always see the 50 1.8 and 70-200 2.8 talked about, but not too many have brought up the points you have. Thanks.
Super video. I totally agree with you! I just started using a Canon EF 85mm /1.8 lens and I love it. Lightweight, relatively inexpensive, fast focusing with great imagery...
Wonderful teaching, its so clear and easy both technical and practical, thanks so much
You know what Sting, I love your music so I'm gonna trust your photography tips. TNX!
Great video! On my wishlist. Thanks for the great tip
2:22 It's interesting that the train blurred at 1/30 of a second but the letters on the LCD display appear blocky. This is because the screen in refreshing rather than being a continuous source of light.
ok smartypants
just kidding, good catch!
I love his energy and passion
Beautiful both the photography and Anna
Great demonstration. Thanks
Awesome! I never knew the 85mm 1.8 coulld have this nice look!
💕💕💕 Now that the newer 85 is out I can afford to get the older version soon to use with my Sony. Thanks 🙏🏾 for the helpful tips!
Great tips, thanks for sharing, keep it going
Great video, learned a lot! Thank you!
Thanks for reminding me that my 85mm has been sitting on the shelf for much too long now.
monmioamio same !
My 85mm 1.4g never leaves my z7 😅
I've Been on the fence with respect to purchasing this lens, however you just pushed me over! I'm buying it today....... Funny thing, I'm mostly a travel photographer! Landscapes, architecture and street portraits.
I just bought Sigma 85mm f/1.4 with Nikon D810. Now i will follow your instructions. You have made nice presentation, thanks for sharing with us. Good luck
These are the exact reason why I have been exclusively shooting 85mm in the last year for all my portrait session. I mostly shoot on the open street, so the working distance is crucial. And although the background blur is very nice, it is still not eliminating the context completely with the compression, as a 70-200 does.
Not to mention the compact size and light weight of the 85mm lenses, which is a huge deal on long shoots.
The Sigma 85mm f1.4 ART lens would like a word with you
I just purchased this lens today,I can’t wait to get it!
Thank u for sharing , very helpful . 😇👍
Awesome, love your video 🙂👍🏼
thoughtful and enjoyable. thanks for the effort and the sharing. in those exterior shots on 6th ave, where did the catch light in her eyes come from? thumbs up.
I have used the 85 f/1.8 G for more editorials I can count and wide open as well.
Many helpful information in one single video, and the model is beautiful too, subscribed! Great content!
Also, in the images, it still maintains that feeling of being "personal" w the subject.
I'll love to be an apprentice of yours and I have always enjoy watching these videos and they're very helpful too this seems so masterful.
Thank you! I'm glad they're helpful.
Really amazing
Thanks for the hint. Btw, the model is crazy beautiful. Godspeed you all.
That lens is a amazing value!
I love my 85 mm it is such an awesome lens. I recommend everyone have one in their kit bag and make it their go too
Amazing 💓
When this video started I thought I was looking at Sting LOL! Very informative video. Subbed.
Amahri Howland he's an Englishman in New York
Great advice too
Fall in love with this model😍
Amazing
Great video
I love how you explain every shot. Are you shooting in aperture priority or Manuel?
Great video. You convinced me. This will probably be one of the first lenses I get when I get my first mirrorless.
So, did you get a 85?
@@koalamusik For a while I owned the Sony 90mm. A very nice lens. But I sold it again. At the moment I am shooting with vintage primes. My most used lens at the moment is a 50mm f1.4. but if money was no issue, I'd probably get that new Sony 70-200 f2.8.
very good i like it
Thanks!
Thanks I have a 85 1.8 and was seriously questioning whether I should save for the 1.4.
Thank You
Thank you
wow! I’m a new fan... you convinced me!
Now I am doubting whether the 50mm f1.8 version is as good..?
Any opinions as to which to get?
Both are not an option!
They way this dude walks made me subcribe right away
thank you sir
thank you ^^
I just love my 85mm 1.8 which I use quite often.
Isn't the D500 a crop sensor which then makes the 85 mm equivalent to about 127mm full frame
I LOVE my 85mm 1.8G! But what about that overhand grip?
Like the 1/30th tip 👍
Does this all apply to a 50mm if you are using a cropped censor? Great video btw!
..... That was a great tutorial!
Thank you!!! She was a great model, so it was easy.
Hi Sir, can you also use 85mm 1.8 on a group shot?
I just bought the Canon 85 mm f1.4 IS and it's wonderful !
I can even take sharp pics at 1/13 handheld !
@@wanneske1969 i can take sharp pics at 0.5 second, it all depends how you click the shutter, and your stability and muscles
Without stabilisation, 1/60th of a second is my limit, even with a 35 mm
a nice report
I am having nikon d5300. Which is the best lens for child portraits? 50mm or 85mm?
Bad ace man!
What do you think about tokina 100 mm f2.8 for portrait?
For DX body also is it equally beneficial?
hi there, is this lens would work on Nikon D5600? Thanks in advance
I cant get over how good the 85mm is for potraits. I must have!
Would it be good for concerts?
Is the 85mm good for portraits in corp sensor camera?
i shoot with sony, canon and nikon bodies and they are all great cameras that give excellent results, however my sony SLT A mount camera bodies have two major features that lead the pack, first the Electronic viewfinder that allows you to see the finished product before you actually shoot the image which opens the door for many many other features and second is the body stabilization...........i shoot for pleasure....
I'm trying to find EF 85mm lens for canon and noticed that there are 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.8. Not sure which one to choose on the budget?
Thanks for your video. I am Sony boy and Do you think f1.4 is not necessity and it is only different is Bokeh>>
I agree. 85mm is the best portrait lens. Greetings from germany!
i disagree! 105mm F1.4 is the Best for Portrait. LG from Hamburg!
How about a 90mm? I'm thinking of getting the 90mm Sony Macro lens. It is sharp and can do portraits and Macro
Is that different from a 85mm macro lens?
Is it the yongnuo 85mm or the canon 85mm?
what camera and lense was this video shot at? cause it looks amazing!
KINA Makeup Nikon D5 & 85mm 1.8g
What type of lens
what's the sweet spot for this lens?
NYCBC - NYC Before Corona!
what's the sweet spot for this Nikon 85 1.8g?
Just purchased a Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens on the used market. I was tossed up between several lenses: I did not want to pay the price for the EF 85mm f/1.2L lens. The two Sigma selections (f/1.4 ART and non-ART) have focus problems on many copies. I might have gone with a Tamron 85mm f/1.8 lens but, I couldn't justify the price. I got my Canon f/1.8 at about 1/3 the cost of the Tamron...
What 200mm was used here?
I’m looking at the canon 85mm 1.2, anyoneusing that lens?
What do you think of the Canon 100 mm f2.8 macro or Canon 135 mm f2 for portraits ? Thanks
I have the Canon 85 mm f1.4 IS and it's amazing
wow she is like a hollywood star
great explanation, in APS-C, a 50mm will just work fine too?
Lucky Never yes it will be either 75mm for Nikon or 80 mm for canon BUT on crop sensor the depth of field and bokeh will not be blurry as on Full frame. Less blur on crop sensor . And 85mm 1.8 will be like 75mm or 80mm F2.7 !!! You will never get same aperture on crop
Would've liked to get the canon rf f1.2 actually until i saw the price
In FX body it is F/1.8 but in DX does the aperture value change to F/3.1 because the lens is actually made for FX bodies
Nope
It's still hard for me to compare the 85mm to the 50 mm I love them both
What about a 135mm 2.8? I love that lens, and lately I was thinking about the 55mm, what do you say?
SIGMA 135mm f 1.8......😄
Does this work with cannon ?
stupid/weird question I have google pixel 3 xl which has f 1.8 aperture and if i buy a 3rd party 65-85 mm telephoto lens will i get such shots ?
I love that lens! By the way, you look like Sting so much! 😅
Hahahaha!!!! Sometime people ask me for an autograph thinking I'm Sting.
What do you think about 75mm for portraits?
85mm - the story teller.
85mm on a full frame right?
Sting... cool!
Wow
what if youre inside?
What do you think about either a 105 mm or 135 mm prime ?
Sigma 135mm ART
Inspiration to go out at night soon.
85mm is awesome...
What is your camera's model?? please reply
That was a D5, not that it really matters...
85/1.8g?
Is he using a full frame or APS-C camera?
I guess he uses Nikon D5, so it is full frame one.
