May May Pokémon isn't on toonami. One Piece was (the 4Kids version) when it was at 8-11pm. Now on Toonami (at 9:30-12:30am or 12:30 to 3:30am) and has One Piece Funimation. Cartoon network doesn't make anime or dubs it, or any cartoon for that matter, it is a TV program that airs shows that were made for them to air.

Mramericantaco Violence & Nudity don’t belong in kids shows anyway, 4Kids were the ones in the right protecting children from in appropriate stuff like that. The real people at fault are the companies that distribute the licenses To 4kids. The edits don’t hurt you anyway. Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Sonic X & TMNT were fine with edits. I barely even notice them. They’re on screen for like 1-5 seconds why bother complain about something so trivial?

at first they used all the censored shit from 4kids, then the entire thing changed completely, they renamed luffy to drake, they renamed zoro to black jaques, gol d roger was never a thing or existed at all, same goes for shanks the grand line etc., the franchise was renamed "captain drake and his friends" (in greek of course) and finally the whole journey was supposed to end on the red line which apparently was luffy's homeland and was terorized by arlong

There maybe one good thing about 4Kids.
Remember the Pokemon Shock incident of 1997? 4Kids planned to alter the flashing lights and strobe lights of that episode, Electric Soldier Porygon, to much safer levels.
Too bad that episode was never released in the US, as Nintendo fully banned the episode, and it was never released ever since.
That's just my opinion on this. That doesn't mean I am supporting 4Kids.
I know its late tho. Pokemon was one of 4kids' best choices. It was made for kids in the first place (unless you wanna count the controversial episodes) unlike One Piece. Dubbing an anime that has a lot of blood, guns, swords, and such content was probably the dumbest decision 4kids has to make. I mean imagine 4kids Attack on Titan. Whoever thinks that was a good idea probably deserves to be fired.

Tammy Newborn I can see what he wants to do with the anime, he can't just have the area where he was on one island and instantly at the last island where the One Piece is. Seriously, that would be a bad story since why? It wouldn't make sense. He knows how it will end, but it's the matter of getting them to that point and make it fluent with the rest of the story. Most people hate those "timeskips" people do in fan-fics because they are too lazy to come up with story materials that will link them together. the 2 year time skip in One Piece is good though, because you don't want to sit around and watch them train for blah amount of episodes like DBZ

Okay, I'll see if I can offer a balanced analysis, please bear in mind this is only my personal opinion.
Pros:
. Made a lot of different anime available to english speaking audiences for the first time.
. Had some truly awesome dubs, TMNT 2003 and Yu-Gi-Oh.
. Kickstarted a lot of people's interest in anime (me especially).
Cons:
. Changed a lot of story elements, in some cases completely changing the tone of some pivotal scenes (Sonic X with tails and Cosmo)
. A lot of voice actors didn't seem that interested in their performances, either being too dramatic with their performances or not enough (this is mostly prevalent in the One Piece dub) but since they were marketing to children, I suppose we can let this slide.
. A great deal of unnecessary censorship (Brock and his 'jelly filled donuts') removing blood stains (dbz kai) and sometimes outright banning certain episodes because they weren't confident enough to show them (Pokemon with James' boobs and Ash having a gun pointed at him in a safari park).
All in all though, I'm thankful 4kids was around when I was a kid, otherwise I might never have been introduced to anime in the first place.
Tammy Newborn You seem quite passionate about this Tammy. I did say it was my opinion. I'm looking at 4kids now from the perspective of a late adolescent, (not the market they're targeting, I know) but even as a kid I found quite a few voices in One Piece and Sonic X to be a bit cringey.
Regardless, you seem to have a lot more knowledge on this topic than I (thank you for the correction on TMNT) , your input is appreciated. But really, can you honestly say 4kids did a stellar job on all their dubs? I hold nothing against the voice actors, poor scripts and direction will inevitably lead to sub par performances regardless of how talented a voice actor is. I also agree that Pokémon was quite well done, the movies especially, strange why I didn't mention them. Dan green and that other guy as Mewtwo were godly.
Anyway, thank you the information. We may not share the exact same opinion on 4kids, but I'm glad we were able to have a civilized discussion about the topic.

One thing 4Kids did really well is the 2003 TMNT cartoon. Sure, the last two seasons (some may add the fifth season as well) ruined in some ways the show but other than that it was a great cartoon. That said, 5:42 - never expected to see Master Splinter singing the USA anthem like an opera singer.

I used to watch the CW 4Kids, and that was my entire childhood. Most anime 4Kids dubs is god awful (Ultimate Muscle, One Piece) but I enjoyed Sonic X, YuGiOhh, Pokemon, and Kirby: RBAY.
Without 4Kids, I sadly never would have experienced Saturday morning cartoons, as depressing as that is.

I never said anything about 4Kids not being able to release an uncut dub or anything like that. I'm saying that I have watched Funimation the majority of my life and prefer it over 4Kids. And what is it that makes you so smart to watch a dub made for CHILDREN? That is clearly where things went wrong and why things didn't work out. They tried to make the show for American children and tried to Americanize anime and condense it for children to the point in which it's like the way it is today. I saw a couple of the edits in Yugioh that weren't even necessary. They took some things too far. I didn't say that 4Kids was trash or anything. I never said anything bad about or state anything about it to begin with. I'm just saying that I love watching my anime through Funimation rather than 4Kids. And btw, WHEN did I EVER say that Funimation is the only dubbing company that could produce uncut dubs? Lemme look...NEVER. And last time I checked, the dubs used in these videos were cut, not uncut. So, if you're gonna try a stunt like this again, the least you could do is not throw a bunch of random facts for something that was never discussed or said and stop trying to consider yourself SMART and right after just insult somebody. Let's see here. I never thought anything about plot holes. I never said or thought that a dub looses its value just because it's edited. I'm saying that there are several things that are just uncalled for. And it's not just 4Kids that have made these mistakes. Nicktoons has made this error before. They thought that Popo in DBZ Kai was racist because he was black, so they made him blue. Unnecessary edit. And it's not like I'm sitting here hardcore hating on 4Kids or anything. I'm just saying that some things could have been simply left alone and they may have thought some things or took things the wrong way. I don't expect uncut things out of a censored dub. It's censored for a reason. Now the reason that Funimation is the only dubbing company that I watch is because I grew up with it. I watch Dragon Ball, and Funimation is one of the best English dubs there is for Dragon Ball and its franchise. I've tried other dubs but some things just don't work for me. Plus, I'm not really watching that many other anime that are owned by other companies. And all the cursing makes you sound like a kid or something that needs to take a nap or something.

My question is: Taking a step back and looking at it from a broader perspective, what do you believe dissing people and wishing they were dead would achieve? Is it just because you're angry? That's it? It's just fueled by your rage? Because the only effect i'm seeing here is negative. Even if we ignore the death threats and whatnot and pick out the comments where you attempt to defend 4kids, you're still attempting to also offend people. You say you're a writer, so don't you think that you should use more conventional methods? If you indeed support 4kids, wouldn't writing persuasive pieces with legitimate arguments and supporting evidence be significantly more effective in convincing people to support 4kids than your rather colorful insults like "your a wuss that drinks alligator piss"?

Also Tammy, I know that you are passionate about 4Kids, but just understand that people have different opinions. Not everyone is going to agree on that. And I do understand that 4Kids is For Kids, so I understand some parts where they have to edit things out.
Think about it from a kid's perspective, the stuff they do is still super stupid. Think about it.... take the most famous example of a 4kid's edit the jelly donut censor. Kids wouldn't say "Mama,mama look those jelly donuts look amazing!!" no they would say "Mama,mama look those donut's aren't even donuts, who thought of that,whoever did must be stupid."
