  • December 1958.
Footage of the first All African Peoples Conference held in Accra, Ghana. The conference was attended by over 300 delegates from 28 African countries and colonies. It lasted from December 8th to 13th.
Dr. Nkrumah said that all African countries must unite in the face of their enemies. He asserted that they would adopt or adapt methods used by other countries if they are suitable, otherwise they would be rejected. When warning that the dangers of colonialism and imperialism may approach in different guises, he advised Africans to be alert. He stated that it was the decade of African independence and that after that was completed, it would be time for a United States of Africa.

    Note:
Interesting article from a Kenyan media portal about the relationship between Kwame Nkrumah and Tom Mboya which was initially very strong before it broke down.

@Philip Adjapong despite his architecture role that paved the way for the total extripation of colonialism from the African continent which subsequently led to the liberation of Ghana from the era of hegemony to being the first Africa's independent nation, he was a disguised demagogue that was politically ambitious.

@Gibson Ampaw the reality is that whenever a government is under threat for its continued existence, civil liberties suffer. that's true of any country. the nkrumah government was under threat of overthrow. you cannot view the nkrumah government outside of that context. ultimately it was, by virtue of a cia-backed military coup. the cia wanted ghanaians to think that the overthrow was a good thing. while it was a good thing for the cia, it actually was not such a good thing for ghana and africa in general. in getting rid of kwame nkrumah and patrice lumumba, the cia got rid of the two greatest threats to the continuation the "colonialism in a different guise" that nkrumah warned about in this speech.

@@paperwait9611 I agree with you that Nkrumah was a great man but his only faults are he could've perhaps concentrated more on his country instead of a unified Africa and he was a communist. He wanted a socialist community with one party and him as a leader. His intents were could but his method weren't and unfortunately he got overthrown by a dickhead of a leader who had no idea what to do which subsequently continued till democracy. The problem of Africa atm is not learning from the mistakes of the pan-african leaders. Hopefully, the next generation isn't filled with incompetent politicians like today.

If the Western powers would stay out of the affairs of the African people, Africa would shine in new glory. Therefore, as an African, it is of great importance to me that we finally unite against the tyranny of the Western powers. That is why I would like to explain to you my position when all those in whom African blood flows return to the African continent. My brothers and sisters who are scattered all over the planet would have to unite in Africa!!! In order for this continent to gain the power that they originally tried to rob from it!!!
