My Backdrop Setup by Relly Moorer

I appreciate how thorough this video is, thereâs a bunch of stuff that isnât included in these kits. Great content!
Thanks! Yeah it was a lot of âfiguring it out myself type of moments
Thank you for saving us all time.
Thank you. Just about to install one and didn't even know I needed metal tubes.
Hey! Just installed exactly the same backdrop system as yours! It was a bit crazy intalling it, yes! All is well now! Straight to the point video. Kudos.
Thanks! Hopefully yours didn't take as long as mine did!
I feel the frustration in this video! Great video Relly!
Thanks! It was frustrating for sure!
Great stuff, and your photography looks great. Many thanks for the info!
Thanks I appreciate it!
Thanks for this video! I may try out those poles. I'm building a Mini studio and am using manfrotto set up on one end and Neewer on the other end. Those poles are even cheaper than the impact ones I almost ordered. The home stores do carry conduit that is 2" diameter but it's not aluminum and much heavier. thanks again for this video
Glad it was helpful! I hope the set up goes smoothly!
Love it
Thanks dude đđ»
No problem!
Thank you going to look into this
Youâre welcome! Good luck!
Super helpful vid! I'm looking to do exactly what you did. Cute dog pics! Thank you for sharing your experience and the links to the products. :)
You are so welcome!
man the consistency đ€
I try lol!
It must be nice to have friends. :) Well, we can learn from your trials with this. Thank you.
No problem! I took the L so others didnât have to lol
DOPE AFâŒ
Thanks!!!
Gâday Relly, please to meet you mate, I like your level of enthusiasm and happy to Subscribe No932 đđ». Iâm currently doing a major DIY home studio upgrade in my ManCave/Shed and looking around at what other creators are doing. Well done on your perseverance with the extra challenges installing the Neewer system you have in this video. Cheers from Western Australia đŠđș đđ»
Thanks! Working on the home studio can be tough because you never know what you want and that may change later on. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much, I did the same with the pvc pipe and was hurt when it didn't work. Life saver.
Yeah....I was hurting on the inside lol.
@@RellyMoorer why doesn't the PVC tube work?
Great video, thx. I just paid a contractor to come out and mount mine only to find out we were missing the aluminum tubeđą. They should really sell everything you need in one package, but should definitely mention that you need extra tools.
I agree! It should all be in one package! It doesn't make sense that it's not. Getting a contractor might of been the move though!
incredible how those tubes don't just come with the kit. great video, now i will anticipate these disasters before they occur.
Yeah, you would think they wouldâve made something by now and include it
Seems worth all the headache, great job!
Thanks. It was definitely worth it
Thanks for the upload!
Do you recommend any particular colors as good backgrounds for darker skin? Trying to choose which color to shine on a white, or gray, backdrop with an RGB light for talking head/podcast videos.
More people need to learn how to use a handsaw. With the right blade and long strokes, you can cut through aluminum tubes or even thin solid bars pretty quick. You can get one for only $6.47 at Home Depot currently. You can also get pipe way cheaper at your local Home Depot or Loweâs than ordering online.
Haha true I need to learn. No shame. At the time Lowes/Home Depot/Tractor Supply didnât have any and said that they couldnât cut them in store. I have no idea why but thatâs what I had to deal with. Iâm sure theyâre good now but in my area they were slacking lol
So good picture! I wonder what LUT youâre using here!?
I actually didn't use any specific LUT except for the Sony log to rec 709 then I tweaked it from there
the hard work was worth it, looks great!
Ayyyy thanks!
Excellent⊠everything I was trying to research in one video. Would like to use cloth instead of paperâŠ
Glad it was helpful! Cloth might be heavier but it should still be fine!
Nothing is ever easy. Nice workarounds though!
Very true! Sometimes you have to rig something up to make it workđ€·đœââïž
Installing mine next month. Great video fam đ«±đœâđ«ČđŸ
Thanks. I hope the installation was easy!
Great video! I have a question, I have a smaller personal studio, should I go with the 86in paper or the 107? Do you run into any issues?
I have t yet unless I need a big wide shot but thatâs rare. It also depends on what type of things youâll be shooting
Dude! Thanks so much for the valuable info. I purchased 3x 9ft wide savage rolls and was wondering if it needed additional support. I plan on installing my backdrop system in the next two weeks so it gives me plenty of time to order those aluminum tubes.
No problem! As you saw it was a lot of trial and error and I personally couldnât find the answers to my questions so thatâs why I made this video
Great video ! by the way why did you shorten the aluminum tubes ? I was going to shorten my aluminum tubes to line up the brackets with the studs behind the drywall but luckily there was wood behind the brackets just by chance.
I shortened them because they were the size for the 108" backdrops. The backdrops that I bought were 86" if I remember correctly. My wall wasn't long enough to just leave the tubes as is
hey awesome video I have just subscribed. What if i have a mixture of backdrop paper sizes some 86 inches long and some smaller back drop papers. Will it still work or do i need to drill holes and adjust the size. Hope you understand what I am asking hah
I think I understand what you're saying...As long as your backdrop paper isn't longer than the poles that you have to hold them then you should be good. If you have a smaller size then you might just have to adjust where it's attached to the pole. For example, in this video, I have gaff tape holding it in place. If I had a smaller BG then I would have to adjust the position of the Gaff tape too. Does that make sense?
@@RellyMoorer perfect thanks a lot
Newer is the worst ever. đ« I'll never buy another one of their products again, ever I feel your frustration.
Hey Relly...thanks for the Video~
**QUESTION:** Can i use a Green paper to create a 'Green-Screen' affect ?
Yes you can! You can use any color. With green screen the lighting is very important though
@@RellyMoorer I'm having a hard time finding 'Green-Screen-Paper'....and ideas?
@@jjsiegal1 Savage Universal has some backgrounds that are green and paper
do you absolutely need an aluminum tube to go through the backdrop?
Not necessarily but aluminum is the lightest and sturdiest thing. With nothing in the middle the backdrop can begin to sag in the middle over time
I was searching and thinking about getting one of these 2 weeks ago. I couldn't decide which brand to go with for the backdrop so I didn't buy one. Idk your video kinda scared me away from going with Neewer lool
Haha I meeeeaaannn if I wasn't as far in then I would've switched to a different option
how far apart did you place the mounts?
Mine were about 96in (244cm). It depends on where the handles slide in too. My backdrops have about 4in (10cm) of space on both sides so they don't touch the mounts.
If you're talking about the 2x4s on the wall then that just depends where the holes are on your mount when you get it.
Hi, can you add the link for the aluminum piping ? Iâve had my kit for a few years, Iâm ready to hang it asap.
Hey! It's the second link in the description of the video!
@@RellyMoorer thanks so much not sure how I missed that but I ended up taking a screenshot of the video, zooming in and looking it up by name. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Talk about doing things the hard way đ€Šđœââïžđđđđđđđ
did you ever paint the chains?
Yes I spray painted them orange! It does make the chains slightly tougher to pull but nothing has messed up
I installed one on our studio, but I have an issue, when we roll the paper down with the chains, there's no way to stop the paper from keep rolling down... how do you stop it? I mean, how can you avoid the papel roll keep rolling once you roll it to the place you need.
Hmmm I'm not sure. I would make sure that every thing is secured tightly. Something could be off weight wise too but I'm not sure how that would be
Turn the little key on the side of the roll holder that doesnât have the chain. This adjusts the tension of rolling up and down!
which pipe do u use
Itâs linked in the description đ
Did you have the issue of the backdrop keeps rolling down even once it has touched the ground? Mine just keeps rollin' rollin' rollin' haha
I donât have that issue. Thatâs interesting! Maybe something with the weight.
The aluminum poles never sag?
I haven't had any issues with them so far and as of right now it's been about 2 months since I put them up
@@RellyMoorer Thanks. Can't decide whether to get the aluminum 3-pc. or screw around with Home Depot and 10- ft. pvc trying to get the best diameter.
Why no one is showing how to use the screws for the hook??
Are you talking about the hook where backdrop is attached or the screws to screw the bracket into the wall?
Why pvc wonât work?
The PVC was either way too small or too big for the backdrop and/or the handles that went inside them
@@RellyMoorer did you try 2 inch one? Because thatâs what I am planing to do. Hopefully it fits
@@AlfaMedtech Yes. The 2 in pvc doesn't fit inside of the backdrop but the handle fits inside of the pvc. The 1 œ in fits inside of the backdrop but the handle doesn't fit inside of the pvc. I couldn't find a size in between like 1 Ÿ in
@@RellyMoorer thank you for your reply!
Which kind of paper did you use? I purchased the savage seamless paper and it says it has a diameter of 2.125â so that wouldnât fit the 2â PVC pipe ?
@@AlfaMedtech I used the savage seamless paper. The issue that I ran into was the 2" PVC was 2" in the opening/hole but the thickness of the actual PVC was preventing me from inserting it into the Savage backdrop
