On Dec. 6, 2012, Walt Disney World held a grand opening ceremony for New Fantasyland featuring actress Ginnifer Goodwin and singer Jordin Sparks, who performed a medley of classic songs from Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Dumbo - including a rare character appearance by Dumbo himself! Also on hand were Disney princesses, the Storybook Circus Giggle Gang, Belle, Beast, and more characters as well as celebrities in the audience and Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Tom Staggs on stage.
She looks awesome...so pretty and a worthy Snow White.

I cried watching this. I followed the story of the New Fantasyland since it came out in D23 and have been so excited about it ever since. If anyone had any questions about it, they always came to me. I was so close to being able to go, but I wasn't able to because my mom's rep didn't give her tickets:( I soo wanted to be there. It was kinda a dream of mine to see it on the opening day. I wish I could have been there.
Disney. Once Upon a Time, it wasn't all about money. But with them bringing new princesses in and bringing back hand-animation (even if only for one time,) I think it's bringing back it's magic.
Belle looked STUNNING!!!!! Speaking as one who could not attend, thank you so much for sharing this so quickly, so we could celebrate from our compter, at home! I can't wait to visit WDW in 2013!

I'm 14 and I cried at this! I'm going to Disney in 2 weeks and can't wait to see the new Fantasyland, Iveliterally dreamed about something like that for my whole childhood and I can't wait to actually be there!!!!

The songs Jordin sang are attractions in New Fantasyland. Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Dumbo's Flying Elephant moved to a new location, Ariel's Under the Sea Adventure, Enchanted Tales with Belle.
It was so awsome to be there!!! It was an amazing experience. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be.
It's kind of funny seeing a grand opening of an expansion our family got to see two weeks ago :P. Wish I could've been there in person. The wardrobe yell was priceless!

The Princess and the Frog has their own float in the Disneyland parade while all the other princesses are jammed into one float.
yeah they tore down the dumbo ride and rebuilt two in fantasyland!! its allot more colourful now and looks great! :D

I just wish you seen more of them. I love Mulan and I never see anything with her. And Pocahontas is special to me because I am native american and my mother always has native american things on the walls and figures about.

true they may not be princesses by title, but they are included in the disney princess website. whenever Disneyland, HKDL, and DLP have events they are included with the other 8. Only Magic Kingdom at WDW tends to exclude them

All the princesses on stage were from European fairy tales. Aladdin was originated from an Arabic fairy tale, and therefor isn't in Fantasyland. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty (Little Briar Rose), Cinderella, Princess and the Frog (The Frog Prince), and Rapunzel, were all Brothers Grimm tales collected during the early 1800s in Germany. The Little Mermaid is a fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1837 in Denmark.

Maybe because 1. Mulan and Pocahontas don`t regularly meet and greet at The Magic Kingdom Park. The rest of the princesses do.
2. Mulan and Pocahontas are not the ones getting an attraction or any other kind of activity in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park .
Do you kind of see how what Disney is doing here with this will ultamitly make some sort of sense based on the focus of New Fantasyland in due time?

@djthereplay ehrm...aside from the fact it's puzzling how worked up you are getting about this, I'd like to kindly point out mulan is slated to appear in the fairytale hall as well; her portrait is in the concept art. But the new hall will be located in the old portion of Fantasyland where Snow White used to be. And yes Snow White is getting a new attraction: the dwarfs mine train...though the video doesn't physically show her in the ride
Pocahontas is the Chief's daughter, so she is the equivalent of a princess in her culture. Technically, she should be included and it is right to have her in the Disney Princess lineup. I do agree with Mulan though, she should be included in the Disney Heroines line and that's it.

Did you miss the part about the Upcoming Princess Fairy Tale Hall and that Rapunzel will be meeting and greeting there as a part of that as well ?
Exclude them?, I understand as far as Magic Kingdom, or EPCOT, or Animal Kingdom, but What about Disney's Hollywood Studios ?
But this maybe because WDW has 4 Parks and the Disneyland named properties only has 2 parks. It kind of makes things easier to bundle the Princesses together in 2 parks, more than 4 parks.

Rapunzel and Tiana are STILL getting a function together with the other Princesses at The Princess Fairytale Hall Meet and Greet in Fantasyland. And One of The Princesses meeting and greeting there possibly (Snow White) will have a New Attraction in the New Fantasyland Expansion.
Other than that, Maybe, It's easier For Disney to do all of the Princesses Together UN-excluded in Disney properties that have only 2 PARKS in them vs.WDW with 4 PARKS.

do you know anything about the native american tribes? if you are relatives with the chief you are royalty in their eyes. Pocahontas is a princess because she is the daughter of the chief. the chief is like the king of the tribe, therefore she is the princess. so they should have included her, it makes no sense that they don't.. also, on the website she is included as a princess.. so if you're saying she isn't one why would they include her there?

thanks for your reply dwight, but to be honest...i'm not sure what you're trying to infer. Rapunzel and Tiana aren't getting attractions either, unless you count the Rapunzel Bathroom. Tiana is due to appear at the Princess meet-n-greet, but so is Mulan for concept art. I'm merely pointing out that in any other Disney Park those two are represented with the princesses, but for some reason WDW always excludes them.
Besides, I wish the Jumpin' Jellyfish parachute tower and King Triton's Carousel are moved to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom's new Fantasyland nearby The Little Mermaid Undersea Adventures attraction.

Actually Mulan and Pocahontas are marketed as Disney princesses, therefore they are in fact princesses.

Also, Jasmin does not wear a dress. Most people who envision the word "princess" see a woman in a ballgown, which makes her not a "typical" princess, removing her from the "fantasy" princess grouping.

Mulan and Pochahontas really aren't princesses. And Merida is a pixar film, but Disney owns pixar, hence (Disney-Pixar). And regardless she is part of the franchise.

i don't understand why jasmine isn't there! mulan and pocohontas fair enough cause they are not technically princesses but jasmine is!! not too happy bout that! it seems the walt racism is still in the air with disney!! which is weird in this time and age and specially seeing as its in orlando with SO MANY mexicans! i hope this will change and all princesses technical or not will b included!

My guess is that Mulan, Jasmine, and Pocahontas weren't included because they aren't European. Their stories fit better with the theme of Adventureland, than with Fantasyland. Then again, that doesn't explain Tiana's presence.

It's great they're 95% done with Fantasyland. Now they can use all of their resources to fix Splash Mountain. It's literally falling apart.
