- Welcome back to our incredible week-long cruise aboard the Discovery Princess to Mexico! Day 2 is all about embracing the serenity of the open sea, relaxation, and indulging in the luxurious offerings of this magnificent ship.
After a wonderfully refreshing day, we get dressed up for formal night and enjoy a truly remarkable dinner at The Catch by Rudi, a new restaurant on the Discovery Princess.

I'll be back on The Discovery on 3/9 for my 75th birthday. I have reservations at The Catch too! It wasn't on The Discovery when I did Alaska back in 2022 - but I did dine in the Crown. I love that place. You missed Rock Opera!!??!! It is really an amazing show - been around awhile on several ships so maybe you'll catch it next time. I love seeing your trips thru your eyes of excitement after all these Princess trips sometimes they seem blah or typical but I'm still going as strong as I can at my age traveling alone. I can't wait for this next trip since October was on Island & it's such an old small ship - but I had a great time with my wait staff, room steward & all that I signed up to do. Keep enjoying this. I hope you go to the same Tequila place I did in Mexico - had a AMAZING LUNCH on the beach with THE best tacos. Plus a show at the tequila place that I didn't understand a word they said but cried thru the entire thing it was so emotional & dramatic. Have fun guys - can't wait for Day 3!

Holland America gentleman in charge of food is fabulous and I’m glad he does princess now
My sister in law used to dance in a show on a cruise ship maybe about 10 years ago and she was in Washington/Alaska for like 6 months or so. I think it was Holland America but I can’t remember. She had to quit because she actually injured her back during a show and had to have surgery. She also was in the Caribbean for awhile too. It was a really good experience for her when she was in her 20s. 😊
My daughter and I did an Alaska cruise on the Discovery Princess last September. It was phenomenal! You should make it a point to see the entire Rock Opera show. It was wonderful as was the other “big” theater show. Great singers! The ship is gorgeous. Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

I agree💯 about not dressing up too much for formal nights. Too much planning and packing required for jackets, tuxedos and glittery evening gowns lol😄

Glad you enjoyed your dinner so much. On our last cruise I complimented the buffet manager and he sent chocolate strawberries to our cabin!!!!! These are the things you remember.

My favorite restaurant is The Catch By Rudi. Their food was outstanding. We went twice. They even made my granddaughters entrée special. She got a full plate of muscles. They were phenomenal. Enjoy your cruise. We love the Princess experience.
It was such a wonderful dining experience! We did think about going back for a second time, it was that good!
Carnival did the charm bracelets for $10, and then had a different charm for everyday of the cruise to add to the bracelet. PS I sent you an email, but the day is the 25th not the 26th.
I hate that you missed Rock Opera. It is sooooo good. We are going to The Catch when we go. Looks amazing!😍

I will be on the Discovery in February. I was on her in May 2022 when she had only been in service for 2 months. Love that ship! Well thought out design and the rooms were great. I had an inside cabin like yours and was blown away by the amount of space available. In Feb I will be in a balcony as we got a fabulous rate for it but I am usually okay with an inside. Thanks for your honest and thoughtful reviews. You are the kind of people I would like to cruise with!

Adam you can’t be an oyster snob if you eat them with that sauce on it. Just with black peper and some lemon, nothing more, they don’t need vinegar. Yes I tasted it like this once in the Netherlands and wasn’t a fan. I like them as pure as possible

LOVE THIS SO MUCH! We just booked our first Princess cruise thanks to you two, our first non-Disney cruise! We figured if you can branch out and still love it, so can we! Do you have any advice on which level beverage package to get? We are booked on the drinks $15 and under right now but aren’t sure what the selection is like…is that normally sufficient for most regular drinks like beer/mixed drinks? Thanks guys!
That’s the drink package we get and it’s almost always worked great for us! It’s very rare there is a drink over $15 we wanted. I’d say that unless you drink high end spirits, the Plus one should be great for you!

When my partner and I were on the Discovery Princess last summer, we got plus as well (15 and under) and it covered every drink we wanted. The one time I wanted a mixed drink that was 18 dollars, I was only charged the 3 dollar difference. Totally recommend it.
Love the cute little charm bracelet. I hope they offer those items for sale on our cruise in May. :) Your dinner looked so good. Did you book your reservation previous to your sail date through the app? That is one thing I do not like about the Princess app on how it wants you to reserve all your dinner times before your cruise. Looks like you are having a fabulous time!
I agree with you there in regards to reserving a spot before the cruise. The app also doesn't work 100% . My parents had a hard time making reservations, saying that there were no times available but on me and my husband's side, we had times available. So it was super weird. We called and the agent said to communicate our problems when we get to the restaurant we booked to see if they can accommodate. 😅 It's quite a mess
I have been trying to find a cruise in the South Pacific Islands for our 20th anniversary around start of Nov and nothing 😢 would have been our first cruise
Random question. We are sailing nezt week on Discovery ( first Princess cruise ) . Are jeans ok to wear in the main dining room? I have seen people post about wearing jeans and am worried about it. We are jeans kind of people..
Here is our opinion. It’s your vacation, wear what makes you comfortable! There are some people who say no, we say go for it! We for sure saw people wearing jeans in the main dining rooms, especially on normal non-formal nights.

Ooooh! Honestly the beds seem totally equal to us. Comfy beds, heavy fluffy, blankets, sooooo comfy!

Interesting, because the menu called it”mini croquembouche” so I went with what the menu said
@@LeggLife the difference being that in France croquembouche are ones not filled with ice cream but cream, not cut open and stuck together with caramel and profiteroles are the ones filled with ice cream and chocolate on top
