It's incredible how a modder found a rendering solution that not even Mojang itself could manage in all these years

Fr like the Essential mod, which really is essential considering it allows you to make worlds and lets your friends be able to join them with no issue, it’s insane that mojang couldn’t add basic multiplayer without having to pay absurd amounts of money
It wasn't a glitch because if they put such high rendering options people with weaker machines couldn't handle it
I've played with distant horizons mod quite a bit. And to be honest I think it looks beautiful but hurts gameplay.
Being able to see things 20 minutes before you can reach them by walking kind of ruins the sense of exploration.
I think Minecraft honestly had the best sense of exploration back when the render distances were lower so you never knew what you'd find beyond the fog. I'm talking about back in the beta days.
The distant horizons mod really adds depth to the game. It's a game-changer for sure.

@@Ozymandias54 homeboy dont even got as many mod variations as java has, they dont even have the amount of textures and amazing performance/shaders that java has. not to mention the fun playing on java being able to crit hit, build varieties of mob farms, not having glitches that kill you when youre standing still is incomparable. The amount of builds you can do without having to fall off because of a shaky screen, the easiness, fun, accessibility is nowhere near bedrock

They do now, I'm pretty sure in 1.19 or 1.20 Mojang added a gamerule command that, when disabled, causes all blocks in a creeper explosion are dropped.

Distant Horizons does NOT blow up your pc.
Your eyes can't see much detail from a distance, which is why DH renders far-away chunks as *low-detail* ones to save your gpu.
It's faster and easier to do something that takes less effort.

There was a idea in Mojang during 1.7 upcoming update to add the option to load 160 chunks by cutting up the world (basicly in the very further most points you could see, it will make them very low resolution and not load any grass and stuff). This was then cancelled because nobody had time to code it and then Microsoft bought the game

I use a laptop and Distant Horizons runs fine.
The chunks are low quality and not that detailed as normal ones
It renders far-away chunks as low-detail ones (the detail decreases with distance, increasing the fps), this does not kill low-end pcs.

I don't think that's the issue. The game is already practically infinite. It keeps generating more the further away you go. You'll never actually run out of blocks anyways though

The thing with minecraft is that with these mods it feels like there's nothing special with minecraft if you have everything available. What i find enjoyable about Minecraft is how you can mod it and it keeps things fresh.
