In the movie, Taylor said she presented “exile” to Aaron with the hopes of him suggesting Justin (Bon Iver) join the track since Aaron and Justin are close friends. Aaron did end up saying Justin would probably like the track. Taylor was shocked that Justin ended up wanting to do the song with her. And you were correct, Taylor loves Bon Iver!
I actually loved Bon Iver because of Taylor. She's been a fan for years and I'm so very happy this song exists.
Sameeeeee
Btw I covered this
When you mentioned they're in their own spaces, I realized it's even more appropriate because of the narrative of the song.
Yeaah, I loved ittt

The fact that she created this song because she was bored in quarantine proves how great singer-songwriter she was
Listen close enough. Justin definitely recorded this with a mask on. Dude is a legend
Was surprised when I came across this. My husband is an acoustician and he is who designed both Justin’s (Bon Iver) studio in Wisconsin and Aaron Dessner’s The Long Pond studio in upstate New York. Both of Taylor’s albums “Forklore” and “Evermore” were recorded at The Long Pond…as well as this Disney+ documentary.
Jack is actually playing guitar on this track.
I believe Taylor and Justin hooked up through Aaron Dessner (His Big Red Machine project has featured them both)
Awesome reaction!!!
🙂🙏💜✌️
Wow, I do a bunch of interviews on my channel and would love to chat with your husband!! If he’s up for it, can he email me at JacobRestitutoMusic@gmail.com
I'm 58 years old. I absolutely adore music and this song moves me in a way that I can't even describe. I'm glad I stumbled on your channel because I like to hear people explain and appreciate music the way that I know it.
Aaron Dessner (the guy playing the piano who wrote/produced a lot of the album with Taylor) has a band called Big Red Machine with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. He’s hinted Taylor might be working with them on some of their stuff now too
Maybe

@Steven Zepeda yes he did
Actually nobody was filming either of them disney+ sent them cameras including a moving camera which was being used but nobody was actually filming them
woah
Taylor and her crew were in upstate New York and Justin was in Eau Clair Wisconsin.
Agree with below. She also talks how it was written. This was really nice, I enjoyed this so much.

I love all the tracks on Folklore but this one is my favourite. The lyrics are just amazing. And the vocals just blow me away! 💖
nice!!
Exile is beautiful, it depicts a story, it allows people to feel something and resonates with it, it’s poetry, it’s art, there are depths to it. And watching the long pond session, you see emotions in their performance, and it sparks emotions in audience too. It’s something I love the most about Taylor, there are always emotions in her performances!!!
Yassssss you're right

@@yashnatiwari5484 I'm getting the feeling you might have covered this at some time??
@@jasonwilson1578 yes! I did cover this! I think I know you...have we ever talked before?
Justin Vernon is a collab oriented guy and does unexpected crossovers. He’s done several track on a couple Bruce Hornsby albums. I also love the duet with James Blake (I Need a Forest Fire)
Truth! Great vocalist too
Kanye
I agree with all of your comments!!like you, i really love and like this song!!
Me too

In the future whenever anyone looks at this video, they will be transported back immediately back to 2020. Bon Iver ended up on this song because Aaron Dessner knows him and asked, I believe

its in the movie... Taylor explained how she convinced Justin Vernon to collab with her
Ya true
Btw I covered this
Justin Vernon had a camera person; Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff and Taylor tested negative and lived at the studio (Dessner has rooms for several people ); and all the cameras were set up in advance, so all Taylor had to do was oversee the editing/mixing. If Joe Alwyn was there, he didn't appear in the film. Evermore was written in part during the period of filming and right after----Jack had to work on other projects, but Taylor stayed at the Long Pond studio for a few weeks after filming.
Watch Folklore: the long pond studio film, she explains how the collaboration came about
good idea!
Please react to this is me trying live.. that song hits different from the studio version to the live version and how she explained the inspiration to it. thats now i think for me one of the top tracks on folklore

I think Taylor said her boyfriend (Joe) made the melody for Exile when he was on the piano.

Awww thats cute
Taylor swift has always been folklore, she’s a genuine artist and so is Justin Vernon. This is a masterpiece quit trying to analyze it.

The mask is an easter egg that Taylor Swift is re-recording 1989.
wow cool
What is the connection with the mask and 1989?

Not prerecorded....
I hope you pay more attention to their vocals instead of pausing in every important moment.

Not trying to hate on you or anything
Just that your reaction as a Musician could be a lot better
There are two camps. The reactors who know it's "Bon-EEver" and the ones who say it's "Bon EYE-ver." Thanks Jacob for being in the early camp!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
This was in the HEIGHT of Covid
Legit
fyi Taylor is a big fan of Bon Iver as well as her boyfriend Joe
nice!
I don't even feel like a Musician is reacting to the song
You're paying attention to what?
The place they're recording it
Their clothes
The goddamn microphone on the Piano
Listen bruh!
Listen good and you'll know this is far away from being ''a random collab''
He already reacted to the song 2 months ago.
@@colby_kafka I know i've watched it, but this is the live version
Its a much better source than the studio version of the song
and there could be a lot more talking about their voices and the live performance overall
Like i said : no hate on him, i just expected a more detailed and professional reaction as a musician from him that's all
It's not an odd collaboration at all, actually.
It wasn’t prerecorded. They all said that they sang everything live. That’s doing them such a disservice. I’m so disappointed to hear you say it can’t be that good. 🤨
Well.
It is. 🤷🏼♀️🫶🏼
it's not just a 'random' collab, it's Grammy 2021 nominated.
lol
It's a random collab, it's not like Taylor want to collab with Bon Iver from the get go. It just happen that her bf write the verse of this song and she thinks this is a duet song.
@@JacobRestituto so what thats when it was nominated
Ugh, reaction vids are getting tired. They pause it every 6 seconds instead of taking in the song first, then possibly going back over it. That's what I appreciate.
Dude. You stop the song every two seconds. You stop to make dumb comments. “ look at him reading the lyrics”
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the video
@@JacobRestituto I should have pointed out what I did like. You point out technique which I think is fabulous. I love when people analyze a song from a musical technique because it’s very educational. Like when you mentioned layering the vocals. These comments help people understand that music is a craft. It is called art because it is designed created and crafted by musical theory then interpreted by the artist. So I did appreciate your video. But I was started to feel the groove then you would cut it too early….sorry I banged out that comment like that. I didn’t explain my whole view. Please do more. In fact see what you think of Gregory Allan isokov. He’s an Indy guy. Tons of his songs are cool. Some may be basic rhythms and lead but he uses a lot of electric techniques.
''Such a random collab''
Calling Exile a random collab
Yea
Sure
Good luck with that🤲🏼
But it absolutely is a random collab. Who would ever thought?
?
@@marysilveus8704 How is that a random collab?
@@JacobRestituto You could've said that its just not the best for you
a random collab?
The song is much better thn that
