    Definitely want to see more of these old matches in this 'Mini' format. Would really be great to see for those like me who only know modern NRL and not the classic play of years gone by.

    This is the first rugby league game I remember watching. I don't recall it being so violent. Punches going unpunished and what looked like an eye gouge on Cliff Watson at around 2:30. That said, so many legends of the game here: Bob Fulton, Steve Rogers, Graham Eadie, Tommy Bishop et al.

    Imagine if this kind of football was still being played today. Would Turbo still be as effective if he was being punched in the head every time he got tackled? 🤔

      Athletes today are more skill full so I would imagine turbo would destroy these guys but players won't handle the physicality of These matches it was tough back then

    Two things that stand out... the old balls had all the aerodynamic qualities of half a Besser block and (probably related) the ball skills both in place kicks and general handling is light years from the skill levels you see today. The modern game is infinitely better.

      Ye i agree, a modern day new south wales cup team would beat any of these two teams
      Edit - but it also depends on what rules are being used.

  • @rudycramer225
    @rudycramer225 Před rokem +3

    Less arm grabbing in those days. Players can't tackle round the legs anymore. Anyone that says it's because they get the pass away, then so what? It takes only one man to stop a bloke around the legs, leaving the rest of the players to handle offloads. The tackling in today's game is rubbish.
