    G1 the first geist attack should have been for 3 (exalted trigger) took titan to 18 instead of 17.

    So in game 1 moving to combat the snake/kill both titans happens. Why not go for colossus then instead of second titan?

      What does getting colossus do?

      @@dang.9125 puts more lands on the board/ more cards in hand as Jeff was holding at least 2 lands we know of at that time. Would have set up for a reload and or possibly a dryad/valakut kill post wipe

      In that situation, Jesse is presenting Chord (X=2). With that information, Jeff knows he has to try for lethal that turn (Basically act as if it's a bluff). Even if Jesse doesn't have Chord, chances are he'll be able to get there next turn as he'll get a draw step (Plus 7 Yawgmoth draws based on current boardstate).
      If Jeff goes Titan into Colossus, he misses out on the second Titan search (Which shuts down his ability to haste his creatures). Without that attack, Jesse is sure to win. Even if Jeff had Dryad, Jesse could dump his board into killing the Dryad before the Valakut triggers resolve (And that's assuming he doesn't have a Chord in hand).

      @@jaggededge11 so the snake/sac loop is all instant speed? No chance for culivator etb to go off?

    • @jaggededge11
      @jaggededge11 Před rokem

      @@CliffWalrus Comboing with Hapatra and Yawgmoth happens at instant speed. Though this wouldn't affect the ETB of Cultivator from going off. The ETB will go on the stack (With Cultivator being a 2/2 prior to resolution). The ETB will be able to resolve but Jesse is able to kill the Colossus prior to him dumping a bunch of lands into play. From there, the ability will resolve allowing him to refuel a bunch and netting him a bunch of mana (He has at least Boseiju, Sunhome, Valakut and Mychosynth in hand).
      The main issue however is that Jeff needs to draw into a T-West, Pact, Primeval or Slayers Stronghold + White Source off of those draws (2 T-West, 3 Titan and 3 Pact left in the deck vs 2 Amulet, 4 Dryad, 3 Grazer, 3 Azuza and Explore) otherwise he'll completely fizzle out (While he'll have a massive boardstate and full hand, he'd give his opponent the turn he needs to combo off).
      The choice becomes: take the Titan (Which guarantees 2 Primeval attacks, forcing Jesse to have Chord or basically lose) or take Cultivator and run the risk of giving your opponent another turn (Even if they didn't have Chord in hand). In the end, you'd bank on the option with the guaranteed outcome (And that also forces your opponent to have an answer).
