Join me as I walk through Warren Gardens with @reese7v, who shares his experiences growing up in the neighborhood and his favorite memories. We dive into the Boston rap scene, discussing the misconception that drill is the only way to make music and addressing the belief among Boston people that they haven’t taken any influence from New York.
Follow @reese7v and me for more content, and don't forget to like and subscribe to the channel! Let us know in the comments where we should go next. #kodakkulture - Zábava

Born in Dorchester and left at 15 to Brooklyn NY. I still remember the streets and how fierce it used to be. People who don’t know Boston would think it’s a soft place with nothing going on. lol
Compared to what the Bronx or what Brooklyn use to be ?
Ok Boston !! stand the fuc up !! WE MAKE CHAMPIONSHIPS 🏆💯 #prayformycity💪🏾 iykyk 😎
Not like the Yankees 😂
I fw Boston shout out Boston 🔥💯
Definitely not the single worse hood in Boston. Roxbury in general is one of the worse sections of Boston & is the heart of the city . Dorchester has the most murders but is also bigger .
It never fails to amaze me how we have the most well done put together hoods and projects out of the entire country. You look at places like Detroit Chicago Philly it all looks like hell walking on earth.
Even the worst projects in boston look like middle class neighborhoods. The city puts alot of effort into making Boston look nice
That’s facts !
But that's years of development! Boston was a whole different city 15 years ago.

& Boston artists never get love from the city because every one got beef with everyone.
They ass let’s be real
That's in every hood
Yep idiots fighting over colors or cause of what street or block or housing project they're from when they don't own it. They keep repeating the cycle and feeding into the stereotypes and can't get along with each other cause of there mentality and it's like they're cursed what the Bible says cause blacks, latinos, and natives are God's chosen ppl but we don't act like it.

Their “hoods” are so clean and pretty. I love seeing the kids at the park while these grown men pretend “it gets crazy out here”. Boston is so cap.
That's funny. As someone from 10 minutes north of where this is, Roxbury, Dorchester and all those areas are filthy pits. What you're saying is true about California and Florida, not Boston which is in the northeast where EVERYTHING is old and shitty looking lmao
You buggin you just don’t know this area is crazy

I grew up in WG in the mid 70’s when we had block parties every weekend and the neighborhood wasn’t what it is now or was 10-15 yrs ago. WG was one big family and the store belonged to Jesse Waters. We use to say… I’m going to sunrise (the red store). Family Day in WG was when every house cooked out and everyone participated. I lived in WG until I was 25ish on Fenno!! WG4life!!!
Thanks for sharing
I lived in Philly visit nyc but Boston is definitely cool to chill if you trying to leave the rough life, as far as crime is pretty low so yeah its definitely the ghetto but you don't have to live in a fast pace life here unlike other cities
Murders is low not crime lol but I met few ppl from Philly they more comfortable here 🤷🏿♂️ and they be street nggas but clique wit Boston easily . Philly nggas here be cool. Y'all needs get out Philly lol
If you live in boston and never rep a side street or projects you'll be fine.
Yea but but rent is 3* higher than the country's average
We always in some city trying to make our neighborhoods seem rough and ghetto. We're such an embarrassment here in America.
Nigga it rlly get dangerous jus cuz uu knocked down houses and replaced em ain’t gon replace the life’s that was lost
When did they make it rough bro they spoke the real about our city they never said they out here killings niggas and we out here destroying the town na we just sayin stop thinkin it’s sweet in Boston cause the TV’s show that it’s not we get down over here too but like they said we trynna stop beef and get money listen next time
Nobody trys to make their neighborhood ghetto, dumbest shit I ever herd. You ether live in a sketchy area or you don't.
I think it's embarrassing too, but unfortunately, everything they're saying is true. This part of boston was especially rough from the 80s through 2000s. The movie "in too deep" with ll cool j, is a true story from boston. But they hanged the location to Cincinnati in the movie for some reason.
I'm glad yall did this nbs.. For those of yall saying boston music Caca Theres a few mfs that made it so yea. For the ones saying the hood looks nice They currently gentrifying it. I'm 30 it was not like that 3 4 years ago they building mad new shxt. And these is youngins in the Gardens it looked worse than that. Also the red store was blue and broke down lmao. For the other hoods they spitting str8 facts mattapan etc is on the same type of timing but they got a predominantly set group of people. U know dudley st. Thru Dorchester is CVs Mattapan lil Haiti the we got the bury which is predominantly black but the somalian be taking over with they big ass families in the gardens 1 and 2. But yes we gritty out here for sure. Its calmer now cause there is mad white folks moving in Roxbury and Dorchester..not liking it at all but..
Damn I also forgot St.Joseph or St.Joe the somalians be over there mostly too idk about now tho lol
It good to hear this from other residents of Boston ! Thank you for sharing that !

Boston was the original
This hood looks clean and peaceful but that don't mean is not dangerous.. Philly looks crazy and dangerous
I feel the city of Philly could care less about the nasty looking hoods.. plus the drugs and the junkies been took over in like the 80s.. Boston does have Methadone Mile AKA Mass ave, it's a whole strip in the middle of Boston that are filled with tents and junkies. Like how LA has Skid Row.

I'm from Worcester, and I've never heard "Yin". I've heard "Yinz" from Pittsburgh, though.
I’m from Roxbury, and I agree that it’s one of the most dangerous neighborhoods. I mind my own business, but still, Roxbury is still dangerous
from sincity to the bean all love MURDAHMASS!!
Joe’s and the Ugi’s hamburger baskets!! Yessir! This was some wholesome content to watch. Thank you for this! @kodakblowup6102 It’s great to see brothas from the city speak very well about the dynamics here. Respects! 617
I truly recomend you go to lawrence when you come to mass next. I can name you multiple places where it looks more hood (strictly cause people are complaining about that. Lawrence, holyoke/ springfield, brockton, and new bedford for mass. Lawrence is really the bronx of massachusetts. Youll understand when you go, and people from the bronx are aware of lawrence cause they often have family there.
Ill also mention places in rhode island and connecticut, since theyre new england as well.
For rhode island, id recomend central falls first, then pawtucket, and various place in the south and west side of providence. The culture in rhode island is very interesting. It has similarities to mass, but also a lot of its own stuff. For connecticut, id recomend waterbury, hartford, and brudgeport.
Those neighborhoods in boston are 100% the hood. But as boston started getting gentrified after 2008, the hood shrunk, a lot of people moved to the places i named, and the city put a lot of work into making projects, schools, parks, sidewalks, and streets and stuff nicer as far as looks go. The modern day hood in boston reminds me a lot of the modern day hood in dc. Theyre comparable if youve visited both places. The violence is up and down.there have been A LOT of big ricos in the past 4 years in boston. This part of boston was very dangerous in the 80s through 2000s. Regardlessly, theres still gun violence, drugs, crime and poverty all through there. You can easily get inti trouble, and a lot of people are on section 8. However, if things keep trending the way they have, there will hardly be a hood in boston, aside for a few projects. The hood will entirely move to the other cities i listed.
@@mattymatt6970 thank you for that feed back ! I will try and connect with people from other parts of the New England next time I come by . So many places I need to check out !
@@kodakblowup6102 those cities are further broken down by ethnicity typically. Lawrence is almost exclusively dominican and puerto rican. It's over 80% Latino. Brockton is majority black, mostly cape verdeans and then haitians. Springfield and holyoke are puerto rican. You'll see. The area is kinda self segregated. The hood in boston is cool. They have their own slang and a lot of history, including malcolm x living in roxbury for a long time, which is shown in the beginning portion of rhe malcolm x movie when he was a criminal. But there's a lot to check out elsewhere too. It's too bad there's so much hatred in the area. I think it's cause the region never got its shine, and the rest of the country doesn't take it seriously because of it. I'm not from the hood. I'm just from the area and have traveled the area and the rest of the country a lot. I'm very knowledgeable on cultural specifics to regions. I could name way more places for you. But I really wanted to give you the main cliff notes. I appreciate you visiting and filming.
@@mattymatt6970 yessir thank you for that information again it’s good to know that . I’m going make some moves outta Boston next trip and see what you were telling me . Lawerence doesn’t sound like a bad idea or Rhoad Island
@@kodakblowup6102 word. Good shit
@@kodakblowup6102 last message on this. Hartford is probably the most hood spot in new england to be real. I'm from mass myself. Hartford consistently makes it very high on the most dangerous as well as poorest cities lists in america every year. I'm always much more interested in unique cultures to areas tho. Lawrence and brockton are really good spots for unique hood cultures. I think lawrence is the right choice for the next place to visit. You won't be disappointed.

All the gates are up blocking the street exits because there were so many shootings that was their way for the police to catch ppl and they couldn’t run through. I was living there when they put the gates up. Police had a hard time catching ppl cuz you can run from walnut ave all the way through to Copeland. Unless someone in WG opened their door 😂. Through it all WG was my best memories and I still keep up with my WG family!!!
