@@JaMorantfan420sometimes a beach doesn’t gradually get deeper, it has a sudden drop called a ‘shelf’. When the wave passes over the shelf the ground it passes over suddenly gets much shallower, leading to a sudden rise in the wave

For anyone wondering, I believe the reason the wave got bigger was because at that spot there was a drop off, and when the wave hit it the water moved upward.

Man surfing is Soo cool. These people have mad skill. I didn't even know people could "Do it like that". They have total control of their body and board, and they totally "feel" it all the way u can tell. Their not just doing it, their fucking it. U know? With all their body and mind.

The wave jump was because of the layout of the bottom, semi-deep water meets the shallows very quickly. like a ledge the wave rode over.
For the first one its unusual to be that close to the shore, but the seafloor's elevation rose pushing the water up

I remember first time at the beach in Hawaii not knowing how strong waves actually are I went for a spin cycle underwater literally didn’t know which way the ground was and had to rush my way out the water, I learned a little later how to dive under the waves but damn even the water leaving the sand going back to the ocean would drag my ass back into another wave, I was playing football at the time at 250lbs being dragged like a feather 😂

the first wave isn't actually that surpising for some locations. it happens if the beach has a steep sudden drop off. the wave gains height when it crashes against that with enough force.

A while back my brother, his friend, my buddy and I were all out skim boarding. Well my brother and his friend both stupidly misjudged their distances and essentially went towards eachother. When they realized they made a mistake, they both slipped off their boards and both boards went torpedoing at eachother in the surf. My bro got hit in the ankle and started jumping. While his friend also got hit somewhere which made him yell, pull up his foot, which he then stumbled back and used that same foot to catch himself....stuffing his hurt foot right back into the salty surf water and gritty sand.
Something was definitely wrong as when he limped to shore and held out his foot, it was apparent what happened. My bros wooden board rammed right in between his big toe and second toe, splitting it a good 4 inches down into his foot. Bloody ripped/torn flesh, muscle, and bone, all crammed full of course sand, is what we saw. It was brutal... Just thinking back to it makes my toes and feet curl in imagined pain.
My brother then scooped him up and carried him to the car and took him to the nearest hospital. Thankfully we took separate cars, so my buddy and I stayed back. And yeah, after that we just took slow single turns... 😅😬
