Some fruits likes blueberries have a silvery layer called “bloom” on them which protects the fruit and keeps it fresher until ready for rinsing and eating. The more you know!
A while ago I read it's best to leave food until eating because it goes bad faster when rinsed off. I wonder if 'bloom' is on other fresh produce.
I tought it was just a layer off bees wax (wich is safe for people to eat by the way) so yeah no need to really wash your fruit just rinsing is enough
@@livewithmanon6443 I work in a produce dept and although there are some items with that wax (apples, cucumbers, pears, etc), I’d still highly recommend washing.
Strawberries as well. Rinse them early and they mold quick.

Beautiful! Also a small tip: Best to put your hair in a bun or ponytail before cleaning because I can see your hair sorta touching the soap part in the fridge as you bend to clean. Can get the hair dirty. Or your hair may snap getting caught in the fridge space and falling into the fridge too. I always have my hair up or in a braid when I clean or cook. And especially when I eat so hair doesn't fall into the food. I also saw how you washed the salad leaves and didn't drain well. I would invest in a salad spinner if you plan to eat salad leaves or store them like this often. Wash and spin. Then place the well drained leaves in the container. They will last longer.
I don't know why I love watching this kind of videos so much. Our fridge doesn't look anything like that. I stopped stocking up my fridge like that, since I had to throw away way too many food. However there is something oddly satisfying watching someone declutter and organize their fridge like that. 🤩
Hey! Just a friendly FYI, those boxes you are using can actually be used as rinsing colanders as well. So you just take off the bottom gray part, stick in your lettuce, and rinse. It’s great 👍🏻

I bought them from my local Costco, but I am not sure what they are called. They were described as good for storing vegetables and helping them stay fresh longer. I don’t know if that would help you describe it to Google and perhaps find them online.

Prepworks by Progressive Produce ProKeeper Storage Container.
You should add a paper towel to your container before adding in the fruits. The paper towel will drain moisture from the fruits, this way the fruits will last longer:)
And also, do not cut the green bits from your strawberry when storing them, otherwise the strawberrys will last for a short period of time.
Those containers have a colander like bottom which helps to keep fruits and veggies fresher.
Perhaps their family can finish the strawberry within a week.

I've grown up in a very dysfunctional home and didn't realize I had a passion for the organization until I had watched your pantry videos. I would love to see how you organize cabinets or if you do anything special like custom Spice Jars. Great video as always! 💜
When I was little i always organized things in my house especially my mom's perfumes and now when my brothers visit me they say they miss me and visiting me because my house is almost always clean i occasionally let go and then regret it and get back on track and organized.

Wow I appreciate the demonstration of the process here. I just (painfully) discarded tens of old hotsauce bottles and some tomato paste I've been accumulating over the years, dismantled the interior of the fridge, gave it a thorough scrub-down, and re-organized everything.
The large volume of single-use containers/products in your fridge was also eye-opening. I'll take all of this to heart.

I came on CZcams to watch a fridge organization video after buying veggie & fruit containers, and was excited to see that I have the same containers that you use!!!
I’m so obsessed with keeping my fridge neat and orderly and making sure things don’t go bad! wasted food is a crime! I don’t do what you do…. But I wanna!😃😃😃♥️🔥
Pro tip: is your going to pre cut the lettuce, is recommend using a plastic knife so that the edges don’t brown:)
this, or rip it apart by hand!
Pro tip from a professional chef - it is best to use a very sharp knife, not plastic.

Same thoughts. And cutting some fruits and veggies rampant the spoilings also.
Also just putting a clean, dry paper towel in with romaine lettuce after you wash and chop makes it last twice as long in the fridge. I never get any brown edges!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE cleaning out my fridge. I organize my fridge and freezer before I go grocery shopping and my kids love it they can find everything

You should put paper towels in the bottom of the containers. Less moisture less mold.

Exactly what I was thinking! I wash all my produce as soon as I get home after shopping and wrap it in paper towels to absorb the moisture. And when I prep, some things get paper towels in the bottom of the container to keep it fresh even longer (like onions and lettuce and even cucumbers!) 😋
My mom taught me that trick.
Using a salad spinner yo drain the water would be great. Awesome video
They make reusable liners that help with this, and because they’re reusable, you don’t have the waste that paper towels would bring.
I Love this! My fridge is usually pretty clean and organized but after watching this, I want to do it again; I just got home from Costco.
PS- be careful washing strawberries with anything but water.
They absorb whatever you spray on them, even if it’s organic and natural, you probably don’t want to be ingesting your veggie spray.
Soaking with water and baking soda(3tablespoons) in a bowl for 2 minutes is best.
I love the kinds of people because you keep your vegetables and fruits, nice and clean and it’s really nice to see people caring about their family❤❤
So I just stumbled across this video and what I'm really wondering is: When you cut all those fruits and veggies, how long do they usually stay fresh?
I was wondering the same. I cut mine and they’re wilted by the next day and they don’t taste the same for me like the lemons don’t taste the same when cut. Personally.
Fruits and vegetables will not last long if you wash them or cut them. I wash and cut them only when I'll use them.
The containers she’s using will keep them fresh longer. I know most people get them from the container store. They also sell similar ones on Amazon.

Guys, she has a family of 4!! Most if not all (I haven't finished the video) of the food looks healthy and her family probably snacks on the fruits and veggies everyday. Trust me, it probably doesn't last very long at all and not because it goes bad but because it gets eaten.
Hello! The produce lasted us about a week. We go through the food pretty quickly because I cook a lot for my family and with kids they tend to snack a lot. I stay busy and need something that will help me make the best and nutritious meals for my family and this method works for me. You don’t have to prep and wash produce like I did, just simply add them in your fridge and wash/cut whatever you need or whenever you need it. I’m sharing what works for my family and I 😊
It should about a week to a week in a half. Especially if she is actively preparing meals most days of the week. It’s only 3 over here and we’d go through that

Swashing the vegetables before using is preferred as some fruits and vegetables ruins faster if washed and not properly dried

i think her fridge storage allows for the produce to drain and vent. that helps it last longer

I understand what it takes for a busy mom with kids running around, we need to work a lot and fulfil the demands so until u feel this is best no issues at all. But a suggestion, don’t store it wet right after wash, dry it and store as they tend to become too soggy. Good luck !

When you turned the labels to face you, I smiled! I have a very small fridge, and I’m taking care of my father. I made him a shelf and drawer where he can see everything, and is able to choose whatever he wants without having to move stuff around. I just wish I had the funds to get a better fridge.

I watched this two nights ago while I worked out, and last night my husband had to harvest our garden before it frosted. I stared at a pile of bell peppers and collard greens and debating just shoving it all into the fridge unprocessed, but I thought of this video and sucked it up. I tried cutting my bell peppers like you do, and it went so much faster! I have a ton of sliced peppers and a pot of collard greens on right now. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

We have an LG. Not the French door like what you have but a big refrigerator all the same. We had to buy a replacement for the top shelf as it split on the plastic right down the front in about the very middle. The new shelf came in today so we changed the two main shelves around. The shelf with the drawer is now at the top and we’ve left more room for the bottom shelf with the vegetable and fruit bins. I’ll order the containers from Amazon and put my jars and bottles in those on the top shelf and I’ve got the milk, coconut milk, tea and lemonade in the door shelves. I’ve got so much more room now for my husbands make-ahead lunches for work. Thanks for showing your reorg!

Honestly most of that washed chopped up food will go to waste if not eaten in maximum 2 days! Chopped up tomatoes are gross and soggy a day later and fruit gets slimy 2 days later too.

Great video. I love my food prep containers but we are switching over all our dishes to glass so I pray they come out with glass versions soon. The water tray and vents are great for produce. I noticed you only seemed to use water but I personally use a water & vinegar to clean my produce since it breaks down any residues (even organic has some!) and salt to clean meat and citrus. My berries seem to last longer now too. Food prepping all at once does save time (and dishes!). It’s nice to see a refrigerator video that isn’t completely full of fake food. You seem to have a broad mix. The labels on the drawers is a neat touch! I’ve started going as far as decanting my condiments. Thank you for sharing. God bless. 💜
