- Here did he come from?! There was a fall and a HUGE sprint to the finish in the final 100 meters of the UIL 2A boys 1,600m as Taylor Warrick came back to win in 4:28.63.

i was the guy who fell - i looked back because i got surprised; i know its not optimal and im a better racer than that. to those saying 4:28 is slow for the state meet, its a smaller classification and caden thurman (4:06 miler) decided not to do the 1600 this year

Don't sweat it. If you haven't tripped, fallen, etc. you haven't tried it!! In other words, it happens to all of us!! Who hasn't been in or seen a strange race.

The kick would be impressive if he didn’t finish with a 4:28. I feel like in most states you wouldn’t even qualify for a state meet with that time.

Texas has regional schools. All the athletic/rich people go to big schools everyone else goes to these small local ones
literally, 4:28 is too slow for even my section of the state, let alone the actual state meet
2A schools here in Texas only have 100-200 students enrolled, so yeah very small
bruh its 2a chill out go watch 6a if you wanna watch a fast race but 2a schools are small Texas towns with not a ton of funding

Stop looking back. It serves no purpose and only makes you slow down, look weak, and possible stumble. Your coach should've taught you that on the first day.
I don't know why he did that in the 1st place, especially sprinting. That's why he stumbled so badly. The only time I would even think to look back would be on the 300 meter mark of the 3rd lap, to know how close my competition is behind me, and I would do it around a bend, not on a straightaway.
