I will always remember t-Bob as the guy that saved us from an embarrassing loss at home against Tennessee…he snapped the ball when the qb was frozen…..Tenn had too many on the field….& we had time to set up the winning play….

Slightly better defense, and slightly worse offense. 8-4
The data speaks against that. LSU will not have one of the worst defenses in the SEC muchless the nation. Overall the finished ranked 108th but we're as bad as I think the 120s with only 132 teams. And the offense was ranked 1st overall, a top 10 offense will be good enough for a top 4 SEC team finish which gets them in the playoffs. Besides their schedule is extremely favorable as their toughest opponents all have to come to Baton Rouge and are all after really tough games with the exception of Ole Miss. Ole Miss's first tough game is against LSU in Baton Rouge so they may not be battle tested enough to pull that off regardless of their improved roster.
8-4 is laughable. 9-3 is their floor and nation championship contention is their ceiling. Ole Miss, UGA, Bama, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, A&M and even Tennessee have schedules that can very well lead them to an 8-4 season, not likely for everyone but they all play multiple of each of these teams. Someone has to win and someone has to lose so some will be disappointed by the end of November.

I have my doubts about this year. Even though Garrett us a good passer, it is hard to win big games without a scrambling quarterback. Borrow and Daniels proved that over and over. Even though Lacy is a good receiver he is not a proven great receiver. When you lose Nabers and Thomas from last year that is major. Hence you know defensive secondaries are going to double cover Lacy. All I can say is GOOD LUCK.
The LSU game is a must win for Lincoln Riley, too. Both teams have new DCs. A loss will have SC supporters screaming for a scalp.
My question and the pundits keep avoiding it is "Will the new, first year in the spot Offensive coordinator be up to the task?"
Sloan has called college offensives before. He also has the best Oline arguably in CFB. Talented receivers, QB, and RBs.
Baker is far more experienced, but it's coaching a group that was terrible and lacks proven talent everywhere, BUT LB.
So it's not that hard to understand why pundits aren't asking. Whether it turns out well or not is a hindsight thing.

T-Bob Hebert was an LSU center for the 2007 national championship team and stayed until 2011 for another national championship appearance. He wasn't an All American type NFL draft pick but he was solid.

Dont get me started on Ryan day with the talent he’s had. BK came to BR and we had 34 scholarship players. That’s it lol. Just saying let him have a chance to build the roster out how he wants. He pretty much overachieved year 1 because we were not expecting to even go to the SEC championship at all. So he’s ahead of schedule in our minds.

No one knows what anyone's defense will look like this year. Although their toughest games will all be at home in Baton Rouge. Most other SEC teams can't say that, also quite a few teams with playoff aspirations have the potential for a 8-4 season based off their schedules. So, from an unbiased perspective you can't predict accurately what anyone will do this season. Scheduling is very competitive for all the top SEC teams, also including Texas and Oklahoma based off their records last season. They all can't win to have the same level of success as the previous year, some will as the top 4 and the rest will be disappointed but no one knows who that is in UGA, Bama, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Missouri, A&M or even Tennessee. Plus the sleepers like Auburn, Kentucky, Florida, or Arkansas can give anyone a random loss in any given night if they are overlooked. I think Vandy is the only team who poses the least threat to an upset victory.
@blackmambaram7034 LSU's defense was horrendous last year, they didn't get a single defensive player from the portal they wanted. The defense will be bad again.

They better or the 2025 recruiting class will suffer but they do have a hard schedule for Deboer's first season and not all their toughest games are at home and not all spread out either. Imo, the odds aren't in their favor for a 10-2 or better season like we all use to see from them.
