I'm Taiwanese. When Bart starts to sing Chinese songs, I felt so awkward for him...
I actually can't tell if they enjoy his songs or just like being pleased by a person with Caucasian facial features. If it is the first one, congrats to him for having a fan base that appreciates his music. The latter, on the other hand, is just sad.

Even pewdiepie was rather annoying early in his career and Felix has come to terms with how he used to fake reactions with over-the-top emotions. Bart is basically that. Remember when Pewdiepie used the be "that swedish guy". Pewdiepie actually got really big early on because he was one of the early foreign CZcamsrs and youtube was promoting foreign content so they could expand. Bart is basically that in China, mixed with being a Chinese propaganda mouthpiece coming from a westerner.

I think what's different between those CZcamsrs in YT early phases and Bart now is that Bart had to constantly put that Chinese propaganda narrative into his work for as long as he stays in China. I think it will be difficult for him to expand/create new content when the theme hardly changes.

What's different is that Chinese people really like to hear pro china/anti-American stuff coming from the mouth of an American person. To be fair any country liked when foreigners praise their country, but there's a difference between literally being paid to say it and forming that conclusion of your own volition.

He had a fan base who loved his content and he was forced into taking the opportunity to go to China once CZcams changed the systems.
