Getting caught slipping in the hood for the first time is definitely something you never forget, it teaches you real quick that it is a cut throat game and every man for himself.
Yeah bro. Getting caught slippin sucked big time 😂😂😂 Had to be hyper vigilant at all times . Crazy living like that. It was all good until you heard tires screeching then " where you from ese" turn around a see a car load of enemys. All bad.
So how close we're you guys with the clantonero I notice you never mention them cus that's a big and respected old varrio with 5 hoods in the west side plus the of one in South central and they were there before you guys im thinking?
I grew up north east between west Lake District and echo park. It was the most active times in the 90s many people got smoked or shot growing up as a kid was crazy see shit or walking to school and seeing dead foos that didn’t make it from late night bush wackings
Being a guero in a predominantly Chicano school wasn't easy in the late 80s. I never joined a hood, but little homies jumped me many times from like 4th up through like 7th grade just cuz I wasn't raza. I eventually earned their respect but shit was no joke. They'd threaten to have their older bros hit me up too. I imagine it was ten times worse for you as a young active member catching it from enemigas.
Another good one. I kinda think that was messed up that you went to your older Homeboys & they didn't have your back but like you said & that other Veterano from Elmwood Sonny Boy said it gets cut throat sometimes. In a way you were a good Role Model Varrio wise cuz you had your youngsters backs at least. The '90s were like that in Varrios & Gangs in general I believe & it started as far back as the maybe late '80s. Not to say anything bad pero I believe it's more Los the city & the County as well it's more a ruff rep & I think it's cuz Gente want it to be so they make it that way by doing things like that. Of course now it's the same anywhere. In the old dias the mid '80s & before though there was a lot more Carnalismo in each Varrio. I think here in O.C. it's a bit more mellow than Los County pero that doesn't mean it gets ruff. It's kinda starting to get that way again after calming down in the late '00s & early '10s. In the '90s it was pretty crazy in Santa Ana & Anaheim & in general amongst the Gangs. Even in the '70s '80s it would get rowdy mostly in Santa Ana cuz they had the most Gangs of all the Cities here & still do with more coming in the late '80s & in the '90s. Many of those were Cliques of a one particular Gang that's one of the oldest & one-time largest in Santa Ana & O.C. named Varrio F-Troop (maybe you heard of them) pero their Clicas were on different sides of town outside of their home base, some close to the home base & some a bit farther out cuz S.A. is a large City but they split from them in late '80s & early '90s, plus a few were new Varrios starting out & many were Party or Tagging Crews that started out in the '80's or early '90s & eventually changed into Varrios. It was crazy. I wasn't born til '90 pero I've read articles about this online & heard from people older than me about how it was here in O.C. many are Familia of mine who were around for those times & some In Law's of mine happen to be from Santana & from that one time huge Varrio with all the Cliques I said split from them.
