    Writing prompt from RL Stine:
[Short version] One of your characters spends a night at a house with a locked room. They hear a voice from the locked room saying, "Can you hear me? Can you let me out?"
[Long version] Sarah and her husband are planning a vacation. Sarah says, “We’re going to be in Cope Cod. We have to see Uncle Willard. We’ll spend one evening with Willard.” Willard is an old guy, a hermit, who likes to fish. He tells them they have to stay the night because he’s so happy to have company. He tells them, "Look around the house and make yourself at home. I’ll go out, get lobsters, and have a nice lobster dinner." They look around and see interesting stuff. At the end of a hall, there’s a closed, locked door even though all the other doors are open. Inside that room, they hear a scratchy, hoarse voice saying: “Can you let me out? Can you hear me?” ...What happens next?

Stine seems like a nice person. I may have read every of the Goosebumps novels when I was younger. Congratulations on the success.

For anyone wanting the prompt later on, here's what I typed up from it.
Sarah and her husband are planning a trip to cape cod, going to have a week in a cabin by the ocean in Wellfleet, and sara says to her husband that since they are going to be in cape cod they need to stop and see her uncle Willard. And he argues that Willard is so strange, do we really? WE don't HAVE to. She said I don't get to see him very often, he's very lonely, he's all by himself in Hyannis. We can spend like one evening with Willard. So her husband relents. So they go and Willard is this old guy, is pretty much a hermit with his little house and he likes to fish and hunt. It's just a little house in Hyannis and he says "oh you have to stay the night, I'm so happy to see you. I'm so happy to have company. And he says "You stay here. Make yourself at home. And you can look around the house. I've got a lot of interesting artifacts and things here, make yourself at home. I'm going to go out and get some lobsters and we'll have a big lobster dinner tonight." He leaves and they're sitting there and they hadn't been to his house before and they look around and it's very interesting; he's got a lot of interesting stuff. He's an interesting old guy. And down at the end of the hall there's a door to a room that's closed and they think it's odd. All the other rooms are open and the doors are open, but this one room is closed. They try the door and it's locked. It's totally locked. And they think that it's strange that you would have a locked room. And then from inside that room they hear a voice. A sort of scratchy horse voice. It says, "Please, can you let me out? Please? Please, can anyone hear me? Can you hear me? Can you let me out? Please. "
