Just what I needed to see. I'd imagined tying into one of the larger bolts but I'm sure this will provide a much better electrical connection and not be susceptible to the elements. Thanks!
This was awesome. Thanks. Explained all the little bits along the way.
I put on shrink tube on all the connections to waterproof them, adds a little more protection.
Ive looked everywhere. Where can i buy these?
Do you need more than one grounding wire? The wiring harness I have one like what you just did but also has one per light.
I live a rust belt, seems every spring i need to fix trailer wiring. I tried a self tapping screw last year, it broke off. I noticed you put your screw on the top, wouldn't water sit there...eventuality rusting? That seems to be what happened to mine this time, though i screwed horizontally into the side.
No matter what I do I've got a trailer that will not ground right. It has a rounding wire at each tail light. It has a grounding wire at the tongue. I've put all of them on. I've removed paint and rust from each site. The lights work great, until I put it on the ball hitch of my car. Then they all stop working.
I think you said it right there "until you connect the ball" sounds like an issue with the vehicle to trailer. If you can try to connect it to another vehicle and see if the ground issue continues.
Why not run a ground wire from the socket all the way back to each light’s grounding wire? Take the trailer out of the equation.
short and sweet thanks bruh
Was this recorded on vhs?
I have a galvanized trailer and it laughs at self taping screws. What to do now?
predrill the hole first
Does this one not require a ground for each light?
Technically no because the entire chasis becomes a ground. Many lights ding have a ground cable but ground by using one of the screw holes that it is attached to
