The sub is actually a rebrand from the Acoustimass 300 that was introduced with the Soundtouch 300 in 2016. You can still pair the Acoustimass 300 with the 700, 900, and the new soundbar.

Thanks for sharing! Nice Bose Soundbar! It's too funny, I have an awesome older Klipsch RW10 that I only used about a half a dozen times. That would be awesome if I could connect to it to this Bose. Vivo en Guatemala, y yo compré una bose soundbar ultra color blanco y mi opinion es la barra definitiva no hay mejor barra de sonido que está. Me falta comprar el bajo y las bocinas pequeñas pero no hay existencias en color blanco.
I have the Bar 900 paired with the Acoustimass 300 sub and it has the cleanest and tightest bass of any sub & soundbar combo I've heard. The bass module does not call attention to itself and the bass is well integrated with the bar. Older Bose base modules could be a little boomy and muddy but not anyore. It also has outstanding dialogue even at lower volumes. Bose still gets it right in many ways.
@@MyJeffrey1970 Bose soundbars are designed to work best with matching Bose subwoofers. The Bose acoustimass 300/Bose 700 sub also hit pretty deep to give cinema type deep bass.
The no soundbar sound upon TV startup also afflicts Samsung Q-series soundbar. I stumbled on a workaround by turning on the soundbar first, wait a few seconds, then turn the TV on. Not ideal, for sure, but less frustrating than the alternative.
Good suggestion. It was a 40% kind of issue with the Bose - Sammy was never that bad - can’t recall a time it’s happened with a Sammy in the last few years.
I have connected dozens of Bluetooth products and I can’t pair my Samsung TV to this Bose 900 bar. Always get the same message, device not found. Please make sure is on. It pairs with my iPhone but not the TV. I have to use HDMI to use. Any idea?
This was another on my list. I'm definitely pulling the trigger on the Sennheiser Ambeo Plus for my apartment. So stoked to experience it. Great video as always.
@@estebanguerra4314 i have both. ambeo wins with clarity, and more dynamics - i mean its pretty much the best bar out there (i guess aside from the nakamichi dragon). however, no surrounds means barely a 180degree field of sound so you lose the environmental sensation with no surrounds. my bose system, with two subs, kicks ass and the sound profile is very well done. dynamics are good, vocals are clear, and the surround element is on another level once calibration is done. i would get the bose surrround package tbh. imo, i would take a little lesser quality just for the surround theater element. you wont regret it.
As always, I love the B-roll of the product you are talking about! Unlike your "arch rival" which only shows himself speaking...the whole time. Keep up the suttle comedy! Great work!
So i was never happy with the 700 bass. I have 2 of them hooked to a 300 sound bar. Even with 2 of them, i was never happy and never felt the bass, no punch. I purchased an inexpensive 12inch sub and box, gutted the 700, and connected it to the 12 inches just to see if it would work. I can feel the bass now , and it shakes the house with just the one, and the bass level is at minimum. Very happy now.
Seems it isn't worth buying the surrounds at the moment. Is bose coming up with surrounds with dolby atmos any time sooner. I have bose 900 and sub 700
I have owned the Bose Soundbar 900, dual Bass Module 700, and the omnijewel 700s for the past two years and it has been an excellent experience. I will agree that Bose definitely have to go all in and step up their game because all other soundbar manufacturers are light years past them. I disagree that the Bass Module 700 is incapable of excellent low end reproduction. I have them set at 50 and the bass is nothing short of astounding. I really should set them at 40 but I like to live dangerously. They are totally excellent for listening to music because they are melodic and mesmerizing. The entire Bose system is mesmerizing for music and lacks nothing to be desired in that aspect. The only codec the 900 supports is Dolby and I certainly wish that it offered more options but I don't have any complaints. The 900 is the least expensive of top tier soundbars along with the Sonos Arc. The other top tier soundbars are at a minimum five hundred dollars more because of the features they incorporate. Bose really does need to get with the program and release upward firing rears like all the other manufacturers. The omnijewels are refined and don't produce prodigious amounts of sound but I don't have a problem with issue. There are caveats with every soundbar and I find it funny that individuals are already poking holes in the Nakamichi Dragon.
About the bass module, I didn’t think it was inadequate … I was rather complimentary … but there is no doubt other subs that go lower and are closer to what I know some of my viewers want - it’s not a monster. I like Bose for music … if I had the flagships lined up it wouldn’t be my first choice … I should make clear I judge its ability mostly based on music via HDMI like movies where the rears are treated more like discrete channels. Putting the Bose at a clear disadvantage (through their own making)
Thank you for the great review. I'm laterally about to push the buy button for this sound bar. Glad I waited and did not buy the 900. I'm very interested in the fact that you can add non-Bose sub. I just don't understand how you would do this. I currently own Martin Logan Dynamo 700 sub. Any help on weather I could add this sub before I buy? Thanks.
You can convert DTS soundtracks to LPCM (via a bluray /4K player) and it sounds virtually identical. The Bose soundbar outputs the raw DTS audio without any problems. And if you have the Bass unit and surround speakers it uses True Space Surround to split the audio across the channels to emulate DTS X sound.
A friend of mine told me that the the surround 700 ( or the entire bose system? Im not sure..) works great with Sony TV, but not Samsung and maybe other brand either. He explained this is due to the high quality internal amplifier in Sony TV, which Samsung does not match. So I am lucky to use Sony TV and might consider the surround 700, after a listening test in the showroom not too far from my house.
I say it’s safest to plug directly into the bar … are you saying it’s better to run through the Sony TV for most soundbars. Given running through the TV is a must with Bose
Anyone compared this set or 900 with Loewe Klang 5 soundbar + sub ? So many Bose reviews but none of Loewe and I am wondering why of they cost about the same ....
So what’s my best option to get Dolby Atmos if I have a 2012 52 LG plasma TV with no ARC or EARC? Or do I have to definitely get a new television in order to get Dolby Atmos?

Finally a decent and detailed review of this unit. Thank you! I have been going back and forth between the ultra bar with the 700 sub model and the Q990C and struggling with the choice. I have enjoyed Bose products for many years so it is hard not to want it, but after watching this, I think its sad to say my money will be going with Q990C and will be replacing my old basic 5.1 system. Cheers T
Solid choice! Q990C seems to be a banger and especially now for Black Friday. I couldn't choose between neither the Q990C, Ambeo Max, Devialet Dione soundbars so I opted for a stereo pair of KEF LS50 Wireless 2 instead
Hi, I have a question which soundbar has better sound, Sony ht a5000 or Bose 900? You are the best judge since you have already tested both. I am faced with a difficult decision. I would like to buy one of them. At the moment I am leaning towards the bose 900. Please reply, thank you very much
I owned the full 900 system and took it back for the Klipsch cinema 1200 that I bought on sale for $800 bucks and I'm way happier. The sound stage isn't as accurate it's more direct but I like it personally. My biggest gripe was the satellite speakers being super weak and the sub 700 had such bad port chuffing when demanding scenes came out. The bar itself is great though I'll give them that, but for that kinda money I expected a lot more. Oh, and yes I tried swapping out the subs at Best Buy three times to no avail. For my bedroom I got the JBL 5.1 which is kinda ironic because it doesn't utilize my LG C2 TVs eArc or have Atmos while my Bar 1200 does but is in my theater room hooked up to a TV that doesn't have eArc. I just got frustrated and bought what I could find on sale. Considering I paid $1,050 for both systems I have now vs the $2500 total for the bose and the Sonos beam 2 I sent back I couldn't be happier. Not knocking any of those products I just didn't feel I was getting what I paid for.
I have the Bose 600, 500 sub and the cubed surround speakers. It sounds good. I can use use DTS through XBox series X through PCM. It does 5.1.2 PCM. I have to constantly switch from bitstream to PCM through the XBOX Series X. I also have TV connection issues every month or two. I think my SVS Prime Wireless with my PB-1000 overall sounds better with impact and the frequency range is better. For that I just PCM it with optical and get lossless sound. Anyways I like your soundbar reviews.
You can also do this through some blu ray players. Just let the blu ray player decode it and transmit it as LPCM. It's not perfect but it's a solution to the DTS problem.
Credit to them for letting you use your own wired sub. More soundbars should do this. Could the Bose be sending a weak signal to the sub, causing it to go into power saving mode, then disconnect?
I'm thinking about buying a soundbar. It must be all in one, without a sub. - Philips Fidelio TAFB1 (Atmos, DTS:X, Imax) - BOSE Smart Ultra (Atmos only) - Sonos Arc (Atmos and DTS:X) - Sony HT-A7000 (Atmos and DTS:X) I had TAFB1 and I had a good opinion about it, but it broke down. Should I choose another model now? I would like the best Atmos/Surround effects (from VOD, I don't have Blue-Ray) and some good music. I also have an Xbox console, but I pluged diretcly to my Oled TV with full HDMI 2.1 According to Rtings, Sonos is probably the best (but it suits me the least - no BT, additional purchase of a strip for mounting on the wall), then Bose and then Sony, but they haven't tested Fidelio. But maybe your opinion is different than Rtings' - they are wrong.
Sonos doesn’t support DTSX just DTS digital 5.1 … I don’t have ready access to the fidelio so can’t advise …. If you are really atmos concerned I suppose the Sony … but Sony can be expanded on to be the best atmos system of the bunch
@@neverenoughtech Thank you. You are right - Sonos doesn't have DTS:X but this format could be important and other soundbars could upmix any format from VOD to DTS:X - I guess. Rtings says that Sony has small heights effects in Atmos but sounstage width is ok. I can say many good things about Fidelio. I had B95 and TAFB1. But I couldn't compare with BOSE or Sony. But what about BOSE is it worth to buy? Seller said me that BOSE is bad in music and Atmos/Surround effects. Generally they have weak soundbars but good separate speakers.
So you can pair a bose bass module with the Klipsch sub together? I am intrigued by that and thinking of getting a Klipsch sub. Can you please show us a tutorial video how you can do so?
Does both 700 BM and r100sw subs work for you simultaneously? I purchased the R100sw, connected to bass 3.5mm port in back of soundbar 700, and it cuts off the 700 BM and only the r100sw works.
I had 700, now upgraded to ultra and it is well worth it. AI dialogue is very usefull especilly at evening watching atmos content without loosing the effects.. I have also rears, and what is commonly not mentioned is that rears are really small so the can blend in the room.. yes the sonos era 300 are probaly better, but I would never have them since i cant put them anywhere at the rear wall.. So other option would be sonos 100s, ut then they dont have any advantege to to bose rears and they are bigger.. So there is value from bose rears and the whole setup looks so sexy that I am proud to wipe dust every day from the top glass. ;)
It is sexy - I’ve mentioned that in similar terms - but you’re giving up a whole bunch of sound with the rears for looks …. But I’m not one to argue with a happy customer
@@neverenoughtech It is not arguing.. I agree it is probably not the best value, but also sometimes it just fits to the individual needs. And I always enjoy when I listen to sonos at friend’s house, but I just don’t see how for example would it fit at my home.. Thanks for all the videos and reviews. Every information we get is valuable.
I have a smart ultra and base module 700 and I do say it could be better. i wish the atmos was more drastically better as I wish it would come from the wall on the left and right side of me. And the upwards firing system is kinda lacking. also I wish the grouping feature had less delay as its way to much delay to enjoy anything. I wanted to get the Samsung hw-q995c but my dad went for the ultra for the brand. but seeing how expensive it is it should be better.
Sorry I’m new to this so please don’t judge me if my question sounds stupid. I’ve a Philips TV 5700 series with HDMI ARC but no eARC. I also have an Apple TV 4K connected to it. I’m planning to buy this soundbar. Do you think I’ll be able to make a connection from Apple TV 4K to this soundbar and from the soundbar to the TV ? My TV has 2 HDMI ports and one of them is ARC but the other one is not. Kindly help.
Yes you can connect the Apple TV to the TV and the sound will make it to the bar via the ARC port. But the Apple audio format LPCM is far better served by eARC ports so you will have trouble getting atmos to work for instance. If you want to most out of the Apple TV (with your TV) you would want a soundbar with HDMI inputs and plug the Apple TV directly into the bar
Hello, can you sometimes in the future do a review of the old Bose accoustimass 10 if its still available. The two speakers that are above each other... i forgot which model. Thank you
Great review! I bought the Bose 900 with the 700 base module last year but had to return them because of random "popping" from the base module due too probably WiFi interference. I mean for that price they should have that kink worked out somehow. Tried everything and couldn't get it to go away but it wouldn't, so i just swapped to sonos. Do have to say, Bose is probably the dang looking soundbars on the market.
heeeyyyy! You already hit 22K subs!! Nice video. I bought the sound-bar, two subs (hooked up only one so far) and the rears and have been completely underwhelmed (although sounded great in the showroom). Your review confirmed that this -might- be a little overrated product. siiigh Now on to other soundbar reviews from you!
Hello, I am interested in upgrading my home theater soundbar. Can you recommend which is better between the Bise Seismic Sound Ultimate Home Theater System and the Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Max? Currently, I am using the Bose Soundbar 300 with the Base Module 300 and its Surround System. I hope you will definitely help me out with this matter. Thanks!!!
I don’t like either bc I think Bose and Sennheiser are coming out with new gear (surrounds in particular - and a new Max compatible with surrounds). As the max is more limited peripheral wise I would go Bose - but not enthusiastically
@@neverenoughtech Thank you for your advice. I am from India, and we have limited options when it comes to various good brands in the market. Unfortunately, the Bose Surround Speakers 700 and the Bose Smart Soundbar are not available in the Indian market yet. That's why I sought your advice. Great review , you are right , Bose should step up it's game. Those surround speakers (besides being way overpriced) can't handle the competition anymore these days. I think 2024 can be an interesting year in terms of a wave of new products from all brands. (Hopefully)
@@neverenoughtechOr hopefully Sennheiser will come out with something new. Not expecting much from Sonos , i don't see a new Arc coming that soon but i think it's necessary to complement the Era's as surrounds. What do you recommend me to do? Greetings from Italy!!
Those no play issues are annoying I don’t have them figured out yet - normally I would say go through the bar but there is no input. Another reason to shy away is the surrounds may be updated this year (ultra surrounds )- which would be a significant enhancement to the system - the surrounds and sub are both quite dated existing before the 700.
@@earlusmcdivett I’m not saying the bar are different. I’m asking if the dialogue mode is different since now it’s with AI. Original dialogue mode on 900 was only pumping mids, by suppressing the rest. AI SHOULD be more precise, enhancing dialogue scene per scene, but I cannot say for sure without someone that has tried both and can confirm / deny
Bose 700 surround hack. When doing the sound frequency set up, wrap a rag around the rear speakers and move them back further than normal. This forces them to get louder. When complete. Move em back. Rears are now louder.
why would you move them before calibration and then back to the original position after calibration? that defeats the purpose of calibration? unless im not understanding you
Why can't Bose allow to add two front speakers for height channels via a software update on Bose soundbar 700 as I see no difference between Bose 900 and Ultra.
Could be critical processor changes that may enable these kinds of things but my more humble wish is that the ultra was necessary to support better multichannel rears
You might find it is your TV. I had the Bose 900 with a Samsung TV, no sound. Tried it on my LG upstairs and it worked perfectly. Seems Samsung doesn't like Bose.
That no sound from tv issue is annoying and getting on my nerves. I must always start my tv first before my soundbar. If i am listening to music via BT, and decided to turn on the TV, i have to reboot the entire soundbar. This issue occurs in my soundbar 700, 900 and ultra now And worst thing, this soundbar doesn't detect that the sub is offline. Sometimes i just need the soundbar, and yet, i dont get any low frequencies from the soundbar somehow it determines that a bass module is paired to the soundbar before despite it does not show up in the bose app. I have to switch on the sub, and manually turn the toggle off after it appears in bose app. After i have done so, i switched off the bass module, and the soundbar resets it back to the beginning where low frequencies does not come out from soundbar again.... The software is a hit or miss. Funny thing is, it works when it is using a 3.5mm cable directly connected to the soundbar 😅 Planning to return it for a Sonos...
@@danielreckwell3043 now Sony A7000 7.1.2 is $400 buck off this week at Best Buy. $999 Leaning toward new BOSE because Sony Soundbar is to big if your not getting tv mounted . So after you have it plugged in. Can you still run the bose bass module (500 or 700) together with the powered sub at the same time?

I have the Bar 900 paired with the Acoustimass 300 sub and it has the cleanest and tightest bass of any sub & soundbar combo I've heard. The bass module does not call attention to itself and the bass is well integrated with the bar. Older Bose base modules could be a little boomy and muddy but not anyore. It also has outstanding dialogue even at lower volumes. Bose still gets it right in many ways.
So no probably pairing a Bose soundbar with after subwoofer?

Any idea?

@@Beardalorianbetter than bose 900+ subwoofer?
@@geetbehera3593 IMO, Sennheiser is way better than the 900.
I still haven't decided between the Bose Soundbar Smart Ultra or the Sennheiser Ambeo Plus, what do you think?
Hi, could you maybe use bose bluetooth speakers as surround’s instead?
What surround sound system should we consider instead of Bose? Bose does sound a little too bassy.
What soundbar would you recommend then?

Can you integrate this soundbar with the Bose Lifestyle 600 to get a better theater sound experience?
So i was never happy with the 700 bass. I have 2 of them hooked to a 300 sound bar. Even with 2 of them, i was never happy and never felt the bass, no punch.
I purchased an inexpensive 12inch sub and box, gutted the 700, and connected it to the 12 inches just to see if it would work. I can feel the bass now , and it shakes the house with just the one, and the bass level is at minimum. Very happy now.
Subbed for the sparkling personality.
Glad you could find the sparkle where others couldn’t . Thanks!
@neverenoughtech In all sincerity your review of the Bose Soundbar 900 was the most amateurish of any product I have witnessed.

I just don't understand how you would do this. I currently own Martin Logan Dynamo 700 sub. Any help on weather I could add this sub before I buy? Thanks.
use the 3.5mm to connect to the bar sub out and the RCA to the LFE port

You can convert DTS soundtracks to LPCM (via a bluray /4K player) and it sounds virtually identical. The Bose soundbar outputs the raw DTS audio without any problems. And if you have the Bass unit and surround speakers it uses True Space Surround to split the audio across the channels to emulate DTS X sound.
I’d say more true for non DTS:X tracks
A friend of mine told me that the the surround 700 ( or the entire bose system? Im not sure..) works great with Sony TV, but not Samsung and maybe other brand either. He explained this is due to the high quality internal amplifier in Sony TV, which Samsung does not match.
So I am lucky to use Sony TV and might consider the surround 700, after a listening test in the showroom not too far from my house.
I say it’s safest to plug directly into the bar … are you saying it’s better to run through the Sony TV for most soundbars. Given running through the TV is a must with Bose

Good stuff! Have you thought about looking at the Polk Magnifi Max Ax system?!

Sony is my preferred brand interns of sound systems. Sony ht a9 and Sony ht a7000 with surround are my favourites
Hi, I have a question which soundbar has better sound, Sony ht a5000 or Bose 900? You are the best judge since you have already tested both. I am faced with a difficult decision. I would like to buy one of them. At the moment I am leaning towards the bose 900. Please reply, thank you very much

Hi Daniel, what are the 5 best flagship soundbars to date? can you make a ranking?
That sounds like an ending to a labor intensive video that I would want people to watch
Enjoyed your review, the Klipsch R-100SW 10" Subwoofer you mentioned has RCA connectivity, so how would the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar connect?
Do I need a Bluetooth adapter?
3.5 mm to RCA
Once you wire connect the Klipsch... can you still run the bose bass module wireless at the same time and pair them together?
Can the new Yamaha True 50 a compete with this ?
I have the Bose 600, 500 sub and the cubed surround speakers. It sounds good. I can use use DTS through XBox series X through PCM. It does 5.1.2 PCM. I have to constantly switch from bitstream to PCM through the XBOX Series X. I also have TV connection issues every month or two. I think my SVS Prime Wireless with my PB-1000 overall sounds better with impact and the frequency range is better. For that I just PCM it with optical and get lossless sound.
Anyways I like your soundbar reviews.
Appreciate the share!
You can also do this through some blu ray players. Just let the blu ray player decode it and transmit it as LPCM. It's not perfect but it's a solution to the DTS problem.
@@TheJonnyBoy1984 I have an earlier Sony Blu-ray player that does that. It tends to freeze a lot so I don't really use it anymore

Credit to them for letting you use your own wired sub. More soundbars should do this.
Could the Bose be sending a weak signal to the sub, causing it to go into power saving mode, then disconnect?
I’m not sure … certainly wasn’t weak with the Klipsch
I'm thinking about buying a soundbar. It must be all in one, without a sub.
- Philips Fidelio TAFB1 (Atmos, DTS:X, Imax)
- BOSE Smart Ultra (Atmos only)
- Sonos Arc (Atmos and DTS:X)
- Sony HT-A7000 (Atmos and DTS:X)
I had TAFB1 and I had a good opinion about it, but it broke down. Should I choose another model now? I would like the best Atmos/Surround effects (from VOD, I don't have Blue-Ray) and some good music. I also have an Xbox console, but I pluged diretcly to my Oled TV with full HDMI 2.1
According to Rtings, Sonos is probably the best (but it suits me the least - no BT, additional purchase of a strip for mounting on the wall), then Bose and then Sony, but they haven't tested Fidelio.

@neverenoughtech thank you but can you run both subs (bass 700 and powered sub) paired together at the same time or only one?
Had the same pop issue with my 900 and bass module 700. The fix was direct 3.5mm connection. Now it’s pop free and sounds great!

That no sound from tv issue is annoying and getting on my nerves. I must always start my tv first before my soundbar. If i am listening to music via BT, and decided to turn on the TV, i have to reboot the entire soundbar. This issue occurs in my soundbar 700, 900 and ultra now
And worst thing, this soundbar doesn't detect that the sub is offline. Funny thing is, it works when it is using a 3.5mm cable directly connected to the soundbar 😅
