@women supremacy ( men can fck themselves ) Ok, so you think that no one else is busy in that class then? I was in school full time while also being the sole provider of my household. I had to take care of my disabled mother, my underage brother, and a dog. My commute was over 2 hours to Boston. But guess what? I still went every single day, and on time. I had a daily battle with anxiety/depression while I was a student and even considered taking my own life because I would wake up every single day without my situation improving. I had too many people depending on me at the same time. I had no room for errors. My mom's child support was expiring in 2019 (2 months before my anticipated graduation date) and my college job wouldn't have been enough to support 3 adults, a dog, and a mortgage. This is the life of many college students. We're all poor. And everyone is dealing woth their own problems when they come home. Life events don't stop while you're in student status. My grandmother died mid-semetser and I had to mourn her death within 2 days. I also got in a near-fatal car accident and totaled my car. I also had a painful lower back injury that took over 5 months to recover and I would cry everytime I had to bend over and put on my shoes. All these events occurred while being a full time student.
It's not fair for the professor to give some students special treatment. Then the students may notice and call the professor out on favoritism, neopitism, having unprofessional relations w/ students, etc.
if she's THAT busy, then she should apply to online school instead. Or not enroll in school at all if she can't make the time. When I was in school I didn't have the option in working full time due to a heavy workload. And no, social media influencing and acting in a tv show is not the same work as manual/physical labor. Also find it annoying that this actress took away someone else's spot who would have appreciated their enrollment in the course she flunked out on. There is a clear difference between students who actually want more than a degree, and actually want to learn from their professors. If you are the type of person who can teach yourself, just purchase the goddamn book on Amazon or something! Because your tuition is paying your teachers' salaries.

We did have people who rly needed to work alot aside of college hence often unable to attend it all on which professors/assitents would basically tell them "Well, you need to choose between your job and college"..which seems shitty considering some rly have no choice, but it is how it is.🤷‍♀️

You are totally the victim!” have ever actually been to college. I’m pretty sure most colleges have an attendance policy and then from there professors can either show more leniency or be even stricter. The policy where I went was you could miss double the amount of times your class met a week, per semester. So like, if the class met 3x a week, you could miss 6 classes for the semester. I had some teachers who did not give a shit. And others that were like, “You can’t miss any.” And every single class had a syllabus that stated the attendance policy. And again, depending on the teacher, they’re going to tell you, “I’m not your mommy or daddy. You need to take responsibility for yourself. It’s not my job to tell you where you need to be and when.” And as far as just letting her take the exam, why would the professor let her take the exam when she was already failing the class? Why is he going to spend time grading something that means nothing?

I don't know though because if the policy of the college is that if you are not in attendance for a certain amount of time, that would automatically constitute as failing. Taking a final won't change that. That's how my community college was, so if she went to an actual uni, I'd imagine they'd be ever more strict. If that's policy, and she broke policy, they can't do anything in her favor because she should've been in class. It's not fair that she got the option of catching up on her own pace, being able to make money and pursue an interest while the other kids were forced to be in class, missing shifts and opportunities. Think about it from their perspective and you'd be annoyed, too. Sure, she's paying to attend, but so are they and it's totally not fair for them to have to pay all of that, and someone else gets a pass because they're an aspiring actor. Think about the kids that work full time, while being a student full time. She gets to pass on class, to fulfill a dream, but they can't pass on class to make sure their rent is paid and their fridge is stocked? That is extremely one sided. It's dumb that college still has attendance requirements when they preach about adulthood, and how everything is digital nowadays, but again, policy is policy.

That is unfair. Sure, she is paying, but she also went against policy. That being that if you miss a certain amount of lecture hours, you automatically fail. If you didn't obtain your dp you couldn't write the exam. So your final marks for the course were an aggregate of everything, not just the exam. It ensured you worked for the entire course. It's also that there were too many failures from people not attending lectures etc which affects the university's rating.

I’m sure the professor or someone had it on paper (email, etc) that she was not allowed to take the exam or their position would have been jeopardised. Something is missing from the story. Also college kids are not high schoolers anymore. If a kid is being given exceptions, even though it sucks, no one is tattling to the professor all their grievances and expecting them to get their way. If the story is true, it might have been that they told her it’s unfair to the other students for her to receive full credit when the other students have been putting in much more work in class. It’s just one example, and it’s the right to the Professors and the law department of the university to make those rules, there are many different ways of combining those. If this was the case , and she was there to only take the exam but wanted full credit then she is just narcissist. There are Students who are working full time, and showing up for every class, so if she wanted special treatment then the professor should let those other students have the same treatment. Her story lacks a lot of information it sounds based. As someone else who was kickstarting her entertainment industry career whilst being in college for film, I can say that honestly college ends up being the #1 hindrance in trying to gain experience which is ironic because in any entertainment field you need experience to get more work, whether cast or crew. As a film major, I remember times when my professors refused to do so much as let me take a test on an earlier or later day, even tho I was working, and THEYRE FILM TEACHERS! 🤣.
In my opinion, college isn’t highschool and the plans/pathways should be a little more malleable based on individual students lives and careers!

Sydney Sweeney saying she might go to law school is like saying humans might just start living on the sun. I can’t with these delusional celebrities that have overly bloated egos. Also a lot of Universities don’t allow students to sit final exams if they have a really bad attendance and miss classes, again, something she may have known if she showed up. If she did go to her classes and her attendance was at the acceptable percentage for her to do the exam, then yeah the teacher is wrong.

All the people who are freaking out about the fact that she wasn’t allowed to take the exam should understand that every class is different and each professor and/or class have different requirements when it comes to grading. Unless he was letting other people in the same situation take the exam and not her, there is nothing wrong with what he/or she did.

@@saehisaya The professor is 100% within their rights here, have you even been to a US school? Because everything you just said was completely wrong. Attendance is required to pass college classes and that’s the standard for any decent university here. Professors specifically have policies saying that if you get more than 6-7 absences (equivalent of missing 2 weeks of class) then you start receiving large deductions on your final grade. This is usually enough to make you fail the class. Or, if you miss too many classes, you just get kicked out of the course with an “FA” on your transcript indicating failure by excessive absences. This is standard policy and each class outlines this in a syllabus, which is a contract between the professor and the university. It must be adhered to, and bending the rules for her is unfair to every other student who paid to be there and grounds for the professor to be fired. I have a hard time believing you have any experience with US schools to say something so incorrect.

@@kimberly6630 I didn’t go to a US school, I’m not a masochist. If schools are meant to be a meritocracy and if you are given permission to miss classes then I don’t see the problem.
The tutor explicitly mentioned the students being annoyed. But no mention of her absence actually being against the rules. So it may be a case where it was against the rules but she was given exceptional circumstances, only to then not be able to take the exam due to the tutor bending to pressure from students. I f what you are saying applies to this case it should be easy to fact check but I could find nothing about her university. Just articles explaining the same story verbatim.
